The Verdon Gorge in south-eastern France
Gorges du Verdon is apparently the biggest canyon in Europe. During a 2 night stay at Les Salle Sur Verdon we opt to take an early start to beat the crowds and ride out on the D952 taking in the clockwise loop around Gorges du Verdon including the extra loop of the incredible ‘Route des Crêtes’. This loop is one of the most amazing ridge rides in France. Enjoying spectacular views of the gorge.
After a short ablution break in Trigance. The return leg along the D71 has segments of balcony road and a spectacular climb in the gorge with the Verdon river on our right. After a very welcome coffee and cake
we then cross the gorge at the impressive Pont de l’Artuby and continue on a fantastic ride back to Aiguines and the lakeside hotel for a cooling dip in the amazing blue water…
Without doubt a bucket-list ride and one of the best in France.
