A civil uprising begins in fictional alternative Port Talbot... #TheWay #iPlayer
Strikes in Port Talbot spark a revolution - and a family of fugitives go on the run. Facing impossible choices, what would you do? Bold drama from #MichaelSheen and Adam Curtis.
Meet the Driscolls, a broken family from Port Talbot. Steelworker Geoff, separated from his wife Dee, is confronted by someone from his past. Their daughter, Thea, is pushed to the limit as her brother Owen battles the world around him. A shocking event spreads panic, and a heated meeting prompts a strike.
Fearing the unrest will spread into England, a lockdown is enforced, causing further anger, ending in a protest march, and ultimately, a violent battle on Station Road.

@@Aryanwood poor governance creates poor citizenry - I think that's the point. Problem is of course in this situation it's gone so far that the only way to restore order is thorugh totalitarian authority and that only makes the situation worse which is why total breakdown happens and only continues when the energy of it all dissipates and/or a generation or two of the participants dies and even then maybe not. Civilisations crumble and never rebuild in the same way. The UK is already set on this path just look at the politics of it. No solution and a broken broke population other than a tiny fraction of obscenely wealthy people.

Found this program thought provoking and interesting, but it was quite odd. A minor riot led to bringing in the army and the closure of Wales! Even when we had the major riots of 2012 the army weren’t deployed. Let alone ‘private security force’. The entire premise was odd. Like we all missed an episode between eps. one and two. Or like the budget didn’t exist to convey what the writer originally intended.

I knew miners who said the same - one of his sons was in the army and he was toe to toe with him on a picket line. It was well known as none of the new "police" had collar numbers - dead giveaway.

The entire world between now and 2030 will see a global problem because of the depopulation agenda. Best place to survive anywhere are the deep mountains. Alexander the Great, Russia and even our US military have had extreme difficulties with Afghanistan due to the terrain. Avoid wide open spaces. Literally head for the hills/mountains! Russia in the beginning of the Ukraine invasion had trouble with the mud and had to go along established roads! 🤣 They won't waste personnel and military equipment on the mountains. Cities and towns are easy targets.

I'm blessed enough to live in a rural part of Texas. I'm good. When I drive through Houston to get to Galveston, it is not normal. @@GingerGrutzius Well, I think it's been far more direct during the cold war proper. With the Soviet Union, hippies in the streets, race riots, vietnam. it was all more extreme than it is now. The current US seems to be full of people pretending it's the end of the world. Every time the opposing party gets someone voted in as president people threaten to leave the country, start a revolution, etc. But in the end nothing really changes. Even if Russia wins in Ukraine, China takes over Taiwan, and Iran... idk... I guess removes the US from the middle east. Even then the US would still rule supreme. But yes, the US is plagued with problems, but not the ones politicians really talk about. The US has a quarter of the global prison population in its borders, the US infrastructure is falling apart, the US social funding in vanishing in the pockets of billionaires, etc. All real problems but still nothing unfixable. As long as they profit off of the current system it'll stay.

I'd say the reality is true in that organised, motivated groups could take advantage of a situation temporarily and own some space for a bit. But reality will set in, it end. So unless groups unite it wont go anywhere. What if it did? It would need to run the state in the long term! Becoming what they despise.

I would suggest people download a copy of the Emergency Act or The Emergency War Act. I believe that after reading the documents, you will have a clearer understanding of what can happen and the results it could and would cause.

In America, I figure 2/3 of rural Police will side with the people. In big cities maybe 1/4 of Police will side with the people. Also in big cities about 20 to 25% of Police will refuse to respond to a general call up until their families are safe. That may not happen.

Hope so.. But the majority of people are weak and wouldn't follow it through.. The public could over throw the government by just sheer numbers and the police alone would crumble under the pressure. But if the army got involved and they started using leathel action then you would only hope the forces would stand down and refuse to hurt its own people.

Never heard of this show/movie. As an American, I can't understand a lot of the dialogue LOL. How old is this? Here in the States, we have a new movie coming out called, "Civil War". I believe this and yours are both being used as conditioning. Our governments WANT us to go crazy so they have the excuse of further clamp downs, marching toward a full authoritarian reign. I prefer the outcome of the movie, "V".
