I do like how they show runners compared the Bracken & Blackwood rivalry to Hatfields & McCoys Feud. For those unfamiliar, it is a feud between two American families after the American Civil War. in the backcountry of West Virginia and Kentucky. It was incredible and those outside the region were shocked at the violence between two families that had known each other for decades over the smallest incident. Initially over a pig

Whoever did that scene transition after in the show after he said “You wouldn’t dare” did a really good job. In fact the whole episode had some top tier cinematography and pacing

Bracken seems to love siding with the “bad guys”. In this one, they sided with the greens. In ASOIAF, they sided with the Lannisters.

Do people not remember that there wasn't a big battle in GoT until Blackwater at the end of season 2?

Curious how when we first meet them last season it was the Bracken boy who was loud and aggressive towards the Blackwood boy. Now the roles were reversed. The Blackwood boy is now the one spoiling for a fight.

It's so badass to me that the Blackwoods are called "the Lost Starks of the Riverrun." I've also heard the Blackwoods is a house we'd get to fond of. We shall see this season if we get to see more of them. I already like the name of their house and their house insignia is sick!

I just lived Daemon's, one liner to the Castellon at Harrenhaal. Lord: "Throne?" Daemon: "It's a chair. With lots of swords in it." Or something v similar. I live for those moments of humour interspersed with all the action, atmosphere etc.

All this time I thought he was a Bracken girl being teased by the Blackwoods.

The two lads in the beginning of the episode are Aeron Bracken and Davos Blackwood. The battle of the Burning Mill most likely began after Aeron killed Davos, even if we don't see his corpse, unlike Aeron's. We also learn later, that Lord Samwell Blackwood perished in battle, while Lord Amos Bracken is alive (they have casted an actor to that role who has yet to appear on screen).

Would have been nice to actually SEE the Burning Mill battle. There was a whole sword fight between the Bracken and Blackwood kids that was cut.

An interesting detail is that back last season, a Blackwood had a broadsword and a Bracken had a smaller sword when their conflict drew blades. It was reversed here.

Introducing their feud in HOTD may be userfull if we will ever see an adaptation of the other great Targaryan Civil war: The Blakfyre Rebellion. Both of these rival houses had a critical part on it.

Of course I understand that time, focus and budget wouldn't allow for the Battle of the Burning Mill to happen on screen... but I genuinely loved the energy that Kieran Burton brought to playing Bloody Ben. I just wish they at least shown us him mourning his father after that battle was finished. I cannot wait to see more of Bloody Ben though, fingers crossed. Edit: Okay, if his body was seen in the background. I don't care. Just retcon this, happens more often. 😂

Last season a brackens brought a knife to fight a blackwood kid with a sword (Rhaenyra suitor scene S01e04). Now they did the reverse and the brackens still ended up die by the sword.

How did the Braken boy get killed with HIS own sword??

Probably the best scene in the episode, maybe even a season. Problem with the show it doesn't feel like it 14th-15th century medieval ages. It feels exactly what it is, actors who dress up medieval. The reason I liked the scene, it shows so well what happened between the Vassals, esprcially during feudalism, but also in Normandy during "100 years war". One mistake by a knight caused such dread. It was delivered beautifuly, battlefield noise preciding the outcome scene.

So was that kid from season 1 who pulled the sword on the bracken and stabbed him. Did he die in that battle?

This scene doesn't make any sense. The viewer cannot figure out when this scene of a feud between the younger members of the Blackwood and Bracken families took place. It could have happened 2 days before the battle or 2 months before the Battle of Burning Mill. The reason why it happened was by no means their long-standing conflict, but rather it was part of a larger plan surrounding the struggle for supremacy over the Riverlands by the Blacks and Greens. I understand that the battle itself and its outcome was unimportant for the outcome of the war as a whole, and that probably that's why they didn't want to spend the budget, but the whole buildup to it was done quite poorly.
