Wanted one since they first came out. Have 2 now. The daily driver that I mentioned at beginning of vid that needed to be worked on and caused me to start driving this one again is also a Sport Trac. Got it cheap with a bad timing chain issue as well
@DaleGribbleMD
@DaleGribbleMD Год назад
@@misfittoys8883 timing chain must be a common problem with these. My dad got me one back in highschool and that's what happened to mine. Mine was bone stock but I drove it like it was built like yours. It handled the snow pretty well for what it was. Pulled so many people out of the snow with it.

great use of putting together 2 vehicles that probably would of been scrapped. I like how you use more used parts than new, thats what the car crafting, hot rodding thing used to be, home built stuff with what you could find or use what you had. That is what got me watching your channel to begin with, keep up the great work! I heard you mention a 56 truck...can not wait to see work begin on that!

I know a couple of guys that used to wheel the piss out of stock beat up S10 blazers. They were not great wheelers due to very little ground clearance, but they didnt care. They had a blast in them because they just didnt care about damage. Plentiful and cheap parts for them

Always wanted a sport trac when they first came out. Found an ‘01 in my favorite color, island blue metallic in ‘06 with only 43k miles on it, pristine condition at a local Ford dealership. Had the deal all worked out, financing, payment, approval etc. The shop cleaning guy took it around back to detail while I did the paperwork. About 5 mins later the shop manager comes into the office with a worried look on his face and grabs my sales guy. They come back with some bad news. One of the timing chains failed catastrophically, no inkling, no warning whatsoever as he pulled it into the wash bay. Pistons hit valves, major carnage, engine is toast. Fortunately, for me, I hadn’t finished signing paperwork. As soon as the shop manager popped in I set the pen down and refused to sign anymore until I knew what was going on. The finance manager kept trying to get me to keep signing but I wasn’t having it. They came back and tried to “sell” me a new engine as the truck was out of warranty for a “discounted” price and they would just add it to my financing, you know, no big deal. I told them bullshit, new engine, you pay for it and install and keep the deal as originally agreed upon. They wouldn’t do it so I grabbed all the documents off the desk and ripped them to shreds. Walked out of the dealership and never looked back. They were out of business not even a year later. Bunch of pricks. Anyway, awesome job on the sport trac upgrades! Ford needed to offer a V8 in the first gen sport trac. They did in the second gen but by then the explorer in general had morphed into a giant pile of poo and it was gone by 2010.

Before I got this one, we had been shopping for one. Found one at a large dealership about an hour away. Wentvto test drive it and really liked it. Agreed to buy it but there was not enough time to finish all the paperwork and whatnot before they closed for the day so we were supposed to go back the next day to finish it. They ended up selling it out from underneath us then tried to push us into a Dodge Durango. Didnt happen

@zgzg2183
@zgzg2183 Год назад
They use the same power steering pump as a 6.0 powestroke. They mount differently, though. So just swap the insides of the pumps, and you have a high flow pump. Works great on my 98 explorer with a f150 steering box and psc assist ram.

I have a good question for ya, I have a 1979 Ford truck and it's got a 300 i6 3 speed what would be a good way for making it 4x4 and a bigger trans such as a 4 speed or something
@misfittoys8883
@misfittoys8883 Год назад
Would not be an easy swap. Basically would be like what I did with this Sport Trac- remove everything to do with the front suspension, incuding the BIG crossmember, and fabricate the 4x4 components onto your existing frame. Would be much easier to aquire the proper 4x4 chassis and swap your body to it.(assuming your body is worth it anyway) swapping to a 4 speed would be a pretty much bolt on affair if you found a parts truck source with the same wheelbase.
