Great job, took guns away from people that abide the law, leaving only the criminals with them. Chicago does the best job possible to make it safe for the average criminal.
Funny. I live in a state (New Hampshire) with the most relaxed gun laws in the country…yet we have the lowest crime and murder rate…it’s a people problem, not a gun problem.

The problem isn't the guns the problem is the criminals,punish the violent criminals to the full extent of the law every time and you'll start seeing progress but seems that makes to much sense so politicians won't ever do that

There are no convictions because when they run finger prints on most of these guns, the defendants finger prints are not on the gun. If-fact now that body cams are required in Cook County you will most likely have far fewer gun arrest. CPD is cooking the books on gun recovery. Not only that, guns are manufactured and arrive in the city on a daily basis, so taking gins off the street is no different than mowing your lawn. There will be more guns, just the grass will grow back. Only 5 percent of shooter ever go to prison in Chicago. Its time to accept the fact that CPD is simply not up to the job. We need brain power in our police department, I cannot support what we have right now.
@@inspiredbeats yes . I do agree we need new leadership, but it’s not just the Police Officers job, when you have the States Attorney’s and the Judges doing things their way. I know of plenty Men/Women who take this Job of Protecting this City , one of the main thing they live for, so they can’t do this on their own , they really need the help of the for mentioned individuals. Like I said, without any Convictions, Crime will continue to Escalate, and it’s doing that now, Nationwide.
@@carleneclark1702 I have watched people sit in jail for 5 or 6 years waiting for their case to be tried do to a lack of evidence. The states attorney office are no magicians. CPD are bring them cases that can't up in court. As someone who is inside cook county jail daily. I have seen guys sit in jail for 4, 5, 6 years only to win their case. Cook County also leads the nation in phony convictions. The States attorney officer cannot prosecute cases with bad evidence. The current method of policing has caused so much bad blood in the community, most cases go unsolved. Then they want to double down on the same methods that have caused most of the problems. This is a competence issue and CPD is not competent.
People need to wake up. Get educated! Elephant in the room - Chicago's black market on guns. Nothing stops until this is market is severely weakened and it's obvious that no one from the Chicago leadership has the power to do anything about it. When Illinois (2019) raised the legal age of buying a firearm to 21 and increased the wait time after purchase to 3 days, nothing changed - if anything that benefited the black market resulting in massive increase in gun crime. Where is the Chicago leadership, the media and the Chicago Police on this? Nowhere, and none of them have the balls to even mention the black market. Instead, we hear about new gun laws (looks good for politicians) that do nothing while innocent people continue to die. Guns are not going away so it's either - black market good for criminals or more gun laws that do nothing or conceal carry license carriers that frighten the criminals.
Or they can loosen infringements of the second amendment and make criminals scared again. This, especially since criminals don't obey laws in the first place. Murder is illegal, but happens every day. It's almost like laws don't matter to people who don't care about laws.

I wonder how many of the guns recovered are from law abiding citzen who made illegal mistakes. Example: People have FOID and are driving with loaded guns. This is not surprising. CPD does love partnerships but if they aren’t “first” or priority, they back away. They have always felt gun related crime control is their domain only.
Most guns on that table look either to be broken probably don’t function anymore , been used in murders/crime and this is a way to get it off the street and never be traced back to a crime, also 150 to 200 is probably the most any of those guns would ever fetch, the first revolver was a starter pistol for blanks, the 1911 at the top left corner what is a BB gun airsoft gun and the one next to it was a $80.22 rifle, the gangs are just bringing the guns over that they know that if they throw it away they’re not gonna make anything from it so lets get 200 bucks for a gun we know that doesn’t work. I think most cities have these programs. Even if the numbers are padded with the help of a gun buy back the numbers are the numbers. A thank you is always pinnacle though to keeping these partnerships. But if I'm not mistaken they can not do gun buy backs without police presence and funds used are usually from some type of grant money. Unless the father is an licensed armor the police dept is still involved. And over 8k guns is still scary

The problem isn't guns, it never has been. It's about money. There's a reason the suburban folks aren't in the middle of gang wars. It's because there is money. So instead of spending your money taking away guns and painting murals, and all of the pointless bullshit, try enforcing crime and bringing money into these areas. This does no good you take 1 off the street its 10 more to replace it but also it doesn't help that its some officers thats putting these guns back on the streets themselves last summer it was a shooting by house in the 3rd district but the gun that was recovered at the scene was taken off the streets by another officer in my stonping grounds in the 15th district on the other side of the city months eairler so a officer had to put that gun back on the streets
