Ed, Rabbit, and Casey are the best story tellers of our time. I hope VinWiki is around in 10 years so I can share these stories with fellow enthusiasts
That was one of the main goals of creating the channel, making the stories available for a long time. It is easy to forget your best stories as you make new ones so I am glad to have them here.
Doug has some really great ones too. The majority of the stories I hear on this channel are really fun and entertaining. This channel is just going to continue to gain subscribers.
My son is 15 and we’ve been talking about his career aspirations (he has none, not one single one until last weekend when he said; “I want to work at a car dealership, dad). This will be his first video that I send him in order to jack up his confidence. Thanks, Ed and Casey.
Casey Putsch, no... thank you. That story sounded like a similar story where Hunter decided he wanted a newer GTO. He had found one at a local dealer and he assured me it was a 6spd. So, we went to look. It was slightly modded (500-550hp) and I explained during the test drive that it was for him, not me. Salesman didn’t have to ask twice if he wanted to drive. It was about 4th gear when I looked back and said; “it’s his first time driving a stick”. I’m sure they have some sort of rule about kids driving their cars with learner’s permits but we never said a word.
I don’t drink, but I’d have a beer with Casey. He’s had a lot of Forrest Gump-esque experiences, and they seem to have added up an incredibly well-lived life. Keep the stories coming!
A very shitty gig to do as a college student, where you're supposed to gain white collar experience at $20 an hour, not get your hands dirty like a fucking high school drop-out peasant (aka a mechanic).
I worked for Ferrari from 2011-2015, and while there we hired a 16 year old high school kid as a technician apprentice. Before he finished high school he had gone through the Ferrari certification and was a true certified tech at one of the biggest Ferrari dealers in the country. Good kid, and he's now with Maserati.
I really appreciate @caseyputsch 's ability to tell a great story. He should definitely write a book on his personal experiences (like short stories), it would be fantastic and funny all at the same time.
@@isidoroalfaro440 they're getting rarer and they're worth money. i still want a 355 because they're just so amazing even if they keep going up in price
See I am definitely in the right clubs at my university (prototyping, robotics, and car enthusiast clubs) but I have yet to run into these crazy right people like Casey or the people who helped him out. I look forward to the day I have some crazy stories about how I got my toes wet in some real-world situations because some crazy guy decides to give me a shot.
I have a friend who has a 308, been sitting untouched, not started or anything for 30yrs! But sadly I doubt he will part with it or fix it this century. So sad.
There are alot of crazy stories to be found here, yep looking right at you Rabbit, but Casey is by far the most insane car guy here, without a doubt his last words are going to be: "Screw it..what's the worse that can happen"?
I’m 21 and I build Porsche 356s. You just have to ask, Most shop owners are super stoked to have someone young with an interest in the automotive field come in.
Manta Mirage.. Oh, that takes me back in the day to my subscription to Kit Kar Illustrated!! And back in the 70's my Dad had that exact, same generic pot-metal aluminum drill! 😁 'Pedal-Stool'... OMG, that is such an awesome 'it cr...' reference!! 😆 But I hate you for the Stratos....
wow i grew up in a work shop myself i wish i coud of seen this car's u talked about but again mate top story i think the amount of people from vin wiki I want to shout beer's i think im going to be drunk for 2 months but will be so worth it
The title is accurate but it doesn't do the story justice. Maybe something like... "Becoming a Ferrari Apprentice and Almost burning down an art gallery" or something like that haha.
err.. Ed... you're a very interesting fellah..and i love your channel but when doing your commercials, you need to learn a thing or 2 about recording.. you need a cardiod microphone and maybe a noise gate in order not to pick up the room's natural reverb? (talking about the commercial/plug Ed does at the end of this video)
LOL, I ordered Pirelli's from Italy for that "laptop" Diablo. IIRC, that car was formerly Warner Bros property and used as Jack Blacks car in the movie where he sells spray that makes poop disappear (sorry cant remember the name of the movie haha). Car sat at my shop for about a month waiting on the rubber.
I knew a kid that used to hold up rich folks in parking lots and take their cars to a chop shop. He’s in prison now. He was 16 though when he started, so for sure you can get into the car biz young. Just goes to show yah.
Thank you for telling their 944 was naturally aspirated I literally jumped forward as you said it going Turbo are you kidding me and then rewind and heard you say it thank you bud
Rusted out 05' subaru impreza hoon car it wasn’t actually, I hated my college experience. Not mentors or guidance and with metaphorical ceilings everywhere.
