Its cool that in the game solar flares cause things to malfunction, its a simplified reflection of what happens IRL and is happening more often. With a big enough one, the threshold of which has been falling in the last few decades according to US military studies of the topic, the global power grid would literally burn out, those gigantic transformers that turn HV into LV for city distribution would boil themselves to destruction (with HV electricity powering the induction furnaces that make their most critical pieces they each take months to build to order) and HV transmission lines would melt from hundreds of millions of volts being induced over their long span since they act like an antenna. So no power plants, no HV transmission and no HV-MV-LV voltage step-down transformers, that means no power grid, which means no non-gas stoves, no EVs, no non-candle or oil lamp lighting, no phones, no landline, no water, no gas pumps, it all goes down. Big oof moment, if only we put money into fixing the problem we saw coming 30 years ago instead of solar panels and fighting the release of plant food into the air.

Looks pretty cool. I can imagine building some pretty wild colony layouts. Having the objective of working toward building a spaceship in order to unlock additional planets is a nice touch. I wonder if your unlocked buildings/tech carries over, or if you need to start each planet from scratch. 🤔 Reminds me of Planetbase or Sol 0: Mars Colonization - which were both good similar games.
