I seen a lot of Leaf games in my 55 years this come back ranks up there with the one of the greatest one I seen the only other one I can remember is the comeback win in 93 in overtime in Detroit in game 5. I won't lie I was ready to turn it off thinking ok we come home with a spilt.
Man I was so happy. But like when the score was for one I got so pissed off I went out for a cigarette I'm like Toronto is done I come back in the game is tied and then they take it in overtime. It just sucks that Florida destroyed us
I kept it on but in the background. Thought we go home with the split and regroup, but then they scored one and another and I get really into it then seeing what happened to the Kings
Clearly you dont remember the 2002 leafs vs Ottawa. I was 7 or 8 years old and i watched them win game 6 ( to go to round 3) in tripple overtime with a wrist shot from a centre off the face off.

nylander -> marner -> matthews is insane. the crowd was louder when the leafs scored. good to see rielly finally doing well. nylander had another multi-point game, goaltending was great again and knies had a game saving goal on the goal line. he needs to stay in the lineup.
Man Nylander is one of the best offensive wingers ive watched in play the game, his decision making (when it comes to offense) is unreal as an example he got a break away pass in the last 25 seconds of the 3rd. Instead of trying to carry it into the O zone and make a play he chipped it to Vas and forced a face off in the Tampa zone. That was such an underrated play by him. However if the guy would block shots and just put some effort into the defense he would legit be a 9 million+ dollar a year player.
@@bilbilly625 And it's the exact reason that he's not - the guy is a world beater in the O zone but the second the puck crosses center he's without a doubt the worst player on the ice.
I say Samsonov only let in one bad goal (Being the one where he was screened. Even though he was screened, it wasn't great positioning). The first goal from the lightning, yes Samsonov overplayed, but it was near unstoppable. The second goal, debatable but I think that was just a great shot. The one where it deflected off of Stamkos's foot, that one might actually be unstoppable
@@aksis2133 and that's absolutely false. he may fail the grit/60 and eye test for you, but the numbers say he's not a liability. he has shown his forechecking skills and improved defensively over the last few years. the numbers show he doesn't negatively contribute to the team's defence. just because he doesn't block shots, doesn't mean he's a bad defensive player. if you're blocking shots, that means you're hemmed in the d-zone and don't have the puck to carry it out, meaning you're negatively contributing to your team's defence lol. he's not usually hemmed in the leafs end because he's carrying the puck out and creating offensive chances. the leafs don't spend too much time defending with him on the ice. guys who always block shots can't make a play. nylander is constantly zooming in the neutral and offensive zone so the puck isn't really in the leafs end because he's one of their best puck carriers.
@@bigspas3 Yet that team lost to a team that lost to a zamboni driver and have imploded in third periods in playoffs before. Also, have blown 3-1 series leads too many times. and have never made the 2nd rd in over 19 years.
As a Boston fan I have to say that was a good comeback win for the TMLs. Good game. They need to close this out on Thursday. Fire and desire ride or die mentality. If they win they'll finally get a taste of the winning bug and they'll want more. We're watching you. See you soon boys in round 2. They better come prepared.
It almost feels like if Edmonton can get past LA, they could go all the way. LA is a tough match-up for them, look at how they've kept McDavid relatively under control.
Oilers is the one of the three that can actually make the Stanley Cup. Leafs have to deal with the Bruins next and then possibility the Canes, Devils, or Rangers in the ECF. Golden Knights will go ahead and handle Winnipeg.
Crazy how even with LA hyperfocused on shutting down McDavid he still has 6 pts in 4 games and that opens up Draisaitl Some other very good teams in the West though, whoever wins MIN DAL could go very far
My housemate was watching downstairs on cable tv, I had about a 15-20 second delay. I heard cheers after the the 2-1 Leafs goal, silence after that. 3-1 and subsequently 4-1, Tampa. I kept the game running with no sound on my computer while I cruised RU-vid on my phone and began watching the VGK/Peg game. I started paying attention at the perfect moment. Mathews scored. 4-2 Alright. we aren't done just yet Scores again. 4-3. Now the sound is fully on. I'm following every play intensely. Rielly scores. There is still no way. It's Toronto, after all. OT, guaranteed we blow it. OT starts. Sweat is starting to smell bad, the stress is real. Kerfoot grabs a sweet tip!! i can start breathing again. Fun fact, I used to landscape Greg Kerfoots property in Whistler, the one on Alpha lake with the personal hockey rink. Looks like the private ice paid off.

This game, vegas game 3 and the oilers game 4 have been arguably the best games of the playoffs thus far. I want the leafs in this series and hopefully they win at home. Go Leafs and Let's Go Rangers
As a Leafs fan I should feel more confident with them having a 3-1 lead but years of springtime disappointment still has me fearing the worst, I can't help it. Get through this round and I'll be fine with anything that comes after.
What I see this time out is a Leaf team that has discovered its fraternal sense of brotherhood. These guys realize that the team is all...It's been a long time since I've been so excited about this team, they are going to win this series, God bless our lads
3:56 look how Marner wraps up 2 guys by defending against Kucherov and then thwarts Perbix's poke check by flippin the puck out to MR for the open wrister. Not a lot of people see those additional details of Marner's game.
I notice a lot of the haters have gone silent, or are already trying to jump on the bandwagon... spineless non-fans. Kudos to all the true blue Leaf fans that have always supported and believed in this team even when it was blind devotion that wasn't deserved. The only way to exorcise all the Leaf demons was to : 1) Beat Tampa both games at their home in overtime 2) Have Rielly be a part of both 3) Have Matthews be a part of both 4) Have the Bolts blow the 4-1 lead in the 3rd 5) Make sure Perry was on the team that Tavares got the hat trick against 6) Somehow involve a guy with a yellow sweater to foreshadow that Boston is next.
Tampa AND Boston both in one year???? i cant believe the page is finally turning. Once we get over this hurdle its going to be lights out stress free hockey for the next decade. Leafs enter the glory era right NOW!!
Best playoff moment for the leafs along with the tying goal in game 3 and the ot winner with less than a minute for the leafs and now this game let’s go leafs go

It's been too long that the NHL to have Tampa deep in the playoffs for a tepid fanbase. It's time for Tampa to bow out and slink away. A successful Toronto team is badly needed and a deep Maple Leaf run is the best thing for the league right now.
Leafs win the series in 6 games!! This game 4 comeback proved to be pivotal. Series was 3-1 instead of 2-2 after that. Huge difference. And they got it done this time, through to round 2. Enjoy it leafs fans. Yes its only 1 round but 19 years of pain is finally over.
It's our own reverse Boston moment. In any event I have every confidence that Toronto will find a way to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Please prove me wrong for once.
Ha Ha Tampa. I'm an Islander fan and I remember the playoff season after Tampa had 2 consecutive Stanley Cups and an article comparing them to the Islanders of 4 straight. Give me a break. You have to win 3 before any of that comparison starts. And they never got there. Thanks Maple Leafs.
Leaf fans in Amalie Arena were absolutely deafening. Hope they're even louder when Game 5 rolls around at ScotiaBank Arena. Leaf fans really want to cheer for a winner.
