For added context on the Horse Armour, it was an even _bigger_ deal back in the day. Just a few years earlier the previous game in the series, Morrowind, had featured a collection of what at the time were called official mods. These eight "official mods" ranged from a simple interaction at one of the game's taverns, to new items, an improved soundscape for one of the regions, and even entire quests. All eight of the "official mods", many larger in scope than Oblivion's Horse Armour DLC, had been offered for download completely free of charge from Bethesda. So it wasn't _just_ that they were charging a ridiculous amount for something so minor, it was that they were charging a ridiculous amount for something that they previously would have given away for free.

The game that made you buy save slots was Metal Gear Survive, Konami's first Metal Gear game without Kojima. It was probably one of the worst games to come out that year.

Fun fact the cane is the Wabbajack from Skyrim yes I definitely spelled that wrong but I don’t care it’s Sheogorath’s daedric artifact and he’s the daedric prince of madness

I think an RPG without levels, with weapon degradation could still work. Not in Bethesda's hands, certainly, more of an indie game that would've been on Kongregate 8 years ago, easy, two mediums and a hard badge kinda game, but I'm thinking things like an achievement-based feat system, kill 10 goblins to unlock a little tick box to choose to do 5% more damage to goblins, five tiers of that, destroy your first weapon to unlock 10% more durability for weapons, speak with The Duck Prince to unlock the All Bullets Are Ducks option-that kind of stuff, very genre-typical you understand- or find every Blue Elephant to unlock the Blue Elephant skin, throw in a nice Achievement Unlocked reference, forgot what the guy behind those is called.

Great reaction, I don't know if we should put it to your knowledge of the franchise and songwriting instincts or bethesda having so obvious targets to aim for but it was hillarious to see everytime you lifted another of their failures just for them to reach it in the next few bars. I admire Chalkeaters ability to get people involved with the franchises they mock to participate though. They must have some really good sales pitches to get crush 40 in this case, but even more so Gabe himself and Ellen McLain for the "Count to three" song. Had this been today when they have more clout I wouldn't have been that suprised if they could have gotten a few words from Todd as well.

The difference is, I think, that here they openly roast Bethesda for only caring about money, and in Count to three they didn’t really roast Valve, it was more of a goofy comedic song about a still beloved game studio - that’s why they got Gaben and Ellen McLain to join in :)))

I like that even tho " IT JUST WORKS a" is full of memes and roasts its also full of callbacks and small lore details, not only that, you wouldn't know about some of these things unless you were somehow deep into the fandom wich just shows how great these games. When half of these things are just devs being greedy so a usual thing.

You should check out the full version of the sonic song, it's more optimistic! A bit. (And they do have lyrics on screen) Also, a lot of it is playing off the song names and level names. "live and learn" = "No time to live, no time to learn", "seven rings in hand" = "A hero with no rings in his hand". Green Hills, Scrap Brain. "Gotta go fast" turns into "Gotta take it slow".

That Crush 30s song was SO well made, absolutely *loved* hearing the singer from Crush 40 back in action...but man does it make me feel old. Speaking of Sonic songs, it'd be really cool to see a react to Video Game Rap Battles: Mario VS Sonic. It's basically ERB but for video games. Very well written with some surprisingly good CG.

I wasn't expecting you to cover Crushing Thirties, interesting to see how much Sonic you know. I'm not familiar with Bethesda The Musical, I haven't looked into Chalkeaters much, I'm not sure if it predates or is more recent than Crushing, I'll give the original a watch after.

it was for Oblivion, not for Skyrim, the horse armor DLC, for 2.50$, for a SINGLE horse, if you wanted to equip more horses, you had to pay ingame currency, purely visual, added no stat, for a game purely single player ridiculous tho, today, in multiplayer games, this might come to be more accepted, cause you can swag in front of others, but in singleplayer? there are modders out there that will change skins of anything ingame for free!

I haven't searched it, since I don't want the ISP thinking I'm sneaky, and also mostly because I'm not interested in doing it and I have terrible fine motor skills, but there's gotta be real lockpick sets at about $10, I'd imagine. Not particularly great ones, I reckon, though. Serviceable ones should be $20-30.

Weapon Degradation I feel was great in New Vegas but you could pretty much always find what you needed to repair what you had... and it even made looting more fun because while a damaged weapon was not worth much, you find a bunch of them and repair them with each other it's a good profit, made me feel rewarded even if I was finding weapons beneath my character

Love your videos Ian! You're commentary is very interesting as a fan of comedy music! Have you ever listened to Danny Gonzalez's songs? I think you'd enjoy them, he's very funny! I recommend "My dad is rich", "bad boy", and "I'm gonna kill Santa clause". He's really good and balancing random humor with clever lyrics and the songs sound really good on their own too!

i think that a battle spaceship with dragon animations can be a referance to zelda ocarina of time and secret dev enemy. star fox spaceship with working laser that had movement of volvagia (dragon boss)

13:00 judging by the map this part was about TES 2 Daggerfall (or how it was called by the community BUGerfall, since it had tons of bugs) and yeah its map was giant but most of it was kinda empty with a lot of space between locations. They solved that in Morrowind though where i liked to walk from city to city, finding some small dungeons (because there was something useful even in them) and small farms/houses here and there. Also you should watch the recording session crushing in the thirties. The singer clearly enjoying singing the song

Funny that in Fallout Frontier moders were able to create working transport. Yes, Frontier still came out a terrible mod (unlike Entropy Zero 2), but that's an indicator.

You should check out Da Vinci's Notebook and Alan Sherman. As for specific songs, Another Irish Drinking Song from Da Vinci's Notebook and Good Advice from Alan Sherman are my recommendations, but all of them are good.

I'm very familiar with both Alan Sherman and Da Vinci's Notebook from hearing both on the Dr Demento show, including the songs you mentioned (tho I'm not as familiar with DVN, I do know the group that spun off from them, Paul and Storm, VERY well, having not only performed with them a few times, but also had them in a skit on one of my albums).

Speaking to the UberEats/Doordash quest BS - it's worse that you have to make 5 deliveries in an hour just to get an extra $5... And it's always from 5 to 6, rush hour, and half the city does delivery... And reminder to customers - TIP IN CASH. Every driver would rather you tip them $3 in cash than round up to the nearest fifth dollar on your card. That gets counted into our wages and we get taxed for it, cash doesn't.

Actually, I prefer tips on the card, because most times when I get a $7 order that takes me 40 minutes and 20 miles of travel, I get NOTHING from the customer. Having a tip on there already let's me know I'm at least getting SOMETHING.

@@shelbyherring92 not usually. I *do* get random $36 dollar orders that when I go to pick them up the restaurant tells me they were picked up hours ago but the system keeps putting them back as if they haven't, and that's why the delivery payout is so high. 😅 had that happen at least twice.
