I just used my s60 today for the first time and struggled with it. Your video was so clear and simple and helped me greatly. It shortened the learning curve. Thank you for taking the time to share with us.
Great review! I was going back and forth on the getting the S60 or the S62. With your detailed review, I was able to determine that the S60 has all I need plus a couple extras, and saved me $150. Thanks!
Shane, thanks! Glad it was useful. One tip I wish I had put in the video that I learned on the course after I made this is that you can see all the shots the watch has captured during your round. When you are on the course, from the main screen that sHows the hole your on and yardage, hit the action button (top button) and on then click the little green golf ball icon that is at 10 o’clock. That will bring up a screen that shows your last shot, but more interestingly, if you then click the three dots at the bottom of that screen, it will take you to a screen that will show you every shot so far in the round. Useful if you want to find out how you are hitting various clubs that day.
Really helpful and clear review, thank you. I now have the watch linked up to 14 CT-10 sensors on my clubs and having watched this tutorial I hope I won't spend too much time getting 'lost' in the watch when I should be trying to ht the golf ball properly. Looking forward to getting the required rounds on to use the caddy!
Brilliant tutorial, used the watch once before finding your tutorial, spent more time trying to figure out what to do than golfing 🙂 - cant wait to get out on the course with this new found knowledge thank you so much for taking the time out to do this, much appreciated.
Thank-you. this was the best functional review of the S60 I have seen. Need to hit the course and see if I can remember all those features. Will likely be watching this tutorial a couple of more times. Garmin should sponsor you.
By the way, since most of us a stranded not able to play golf, now is a good time to update the SW on your watch. If you have not done it, download Garmin Express to your PC or Mac and connect your watch to your computer and follow the update instructions. Bug fixes galore! At least you're doing something golf related! Stay safe fellow golfers! www.garmin.com/en-US/software/express/windows/
Thank you sir, finally I do understand the watch. I learned from you how to disable the cursor with the split distance. Before I was often unable to use this feature.
Terrific video, thank you so much for doing this. I just received one of these yesterday. They are on clearance at Garmin. This was extremely helpful. I would love to see a video on the course for a few holes if you have time to do one? But again, thank you for spending the time and effort on this - I got a lot out of it
The one issue I keep having is when I get near the green it automatically assumes I am putting and won't let me go back to record a chip. How do I go backwards to choose which club I just hit if it already thinks I am on the green or if I simply forgot to enter the club?
Geoff, that is a typical problem. The issue is it many times does not detect the smaller chip shots. There is no way to add a detected shot via the watch. You simply have to just make your score accurate. If after the game you want to go add that shot, you can do it via a pc or Mac based browser connecting to connect.garmin.com and clicking on the golf icon on the far left of the screen and navigating to that scorecard. It’s a little finicky but it can be done. A better way to do it is to order a 3 pack of the Garmin Aproach CT-10 club sensors and stick one of them on each of you clubs you use to chip (or better yet, the two you use the most to chip and your putter). This will then detect almost all chip shots. I have them. I actually have 6 of them because I was “lucky” enough to receive the first pack of three which wouldn’t pair, I called garmin and they sent 3 more for free which worked. Then I figured out the first three just all needed new batteries (the battery type is one of those coin shaped batteries), so I needed up with 6 working sensors.
Very good and clear explanation of the watch - thanks. Does anyone know how you can turn the backlight back on without changing whatever is on the screen at the time?
Thank you sir. You have done a great service to the global golf community out there. Watching your video and dreaming about the next round of golf is one the best thing I’ve done during the lockdown. Stay safe and best regards from Italy!
Great video! I've had my S60 for a couple of years now, and I always wondered why the top button (action button) is a dial? Would be great if you could use it for scrolling between holes, zooming or choosing in menus. But, nothing happens regardless of where I try... Anyone out there that knows...?
Great video - informative and articulately narrated. I have a couple of questions. Have you tried the Swing Tempo app and should a lefty wear the watch on the right wrist (or does the screen detect touches while wearing a glove?
Tony. No, I've not used the Swing Tempo app. I have looked at my 'Swing Tempo', which they say ideally should be a score of 3.0. That is the ratio of the time it takes for your backswing divided by the time it takes for your downswing. You can see that information outside of the Swing Tempo App when you are playing golf. While you are playing golf, and you have your watch in the Golf App, you can look at your 'last shot'. Do that by hitting the action key (top key). Hit the green ball icon with an arrow (at 11 o'clock). That shows your last shot which includes your swing tempo for that shot. You can basically get the same thing when not playing golf on the course by using the Swing Tempo app while on the range or at home with a club. Regarding your second question, I'm right handed, I wear my glove on my left hand, and my watch on the left hand, so my ungloved hand is my right and I use that to control the watch. I assume as a left hander you would do everything the opposite. Watch and glove on the right hand, left hand controls the watch. That said, you asked about can you control the touch screen with a glove on. I have never tried it before, so I just did. It does work, albeit about 80% as accurate, meaning its a little more finicky with the glove on, but it can be controlled.
@@tonydi1115 glad to help! Finally able to golf again here in San Diego country since about May 1. Walking only for now (mostly). Can't find any new walking carts to buy (mine stinks). Its a first world problem though, glad to get outside again. Stay safe my friend, and update your watch firmware!
Hey dpwright32.......My S60 has screens that are a milky white and barely readable....some screens are ok...the Settings, for example, looks as if there is no contrast between the dark and white. I have monkeyed with the background and nothing changes. Anyone else had that problem? Solutions?
I've had the S60 watch for a few years, and have played ~100 rounds of golf with it. The little manual that comes with the watch is almost useless. Your video is so great, that the Garmin folks should have a link to it in the manual. With the information in your video, I can finally take advantage of scoring, club selection, and so much more. I which I had seen this video when I got the watch. Thanks man.
Nice video !! How do we use or configure the autoshot ? I know that every shots can be record into the garmin connect and then you can watch hole by hole on a mini map.
Nice job on the video. BTW, at about 8 minutes in, you show a golf hole view and there are two dots under the Par. I don't see those on mine. Do you know what those represent? Thanks.
Great video. Do you maybe have a troubleshooting guide? My rounds are not saving / syncing - but they show in my golf widget. The scorecard is also not in the scorecard folder when looking at my watch through the PC using it as a Mass Storage Device
You are quite welcome. A local course near where I live has finally opened! Walking only, restrictions, etc, but it’s open! Back to it Friday! Hope you can get back to it as well!
Glad it was helpful. Now keep that left arm straight and tuck the right elbow and keep your weight forward and hit the ball first and THEN take a divot and and and and. lol, this game! At least we know the distance to the pin now!
Thanks for the excellent video! When paired with your phone, does your cellular data usage increase significantly? Also, can the golf function be used without being paired to your phone?
Regarding cellular usage, no, I don't believe it really uses much at all when connected to the phone. It connects via Bluetooth between the phone and watch. The only time the phone would need to talk to cellular would be after your finish the round, your watch will upload the round to your phone, and then your phone uploads the data to the cloud where you can see information via the web (connect.garmin.com). Regarding the golf function question. You do not need your watch to be connected to the phone to use the golf function on the watch. It is completely standalone. The only dependency on the watch to phone connection is just to be able to upload your completed rounds from your watch, as well as keeping the course information up to date on your watch by downloading updates from the phone. But day to day to use it as a watch, or use its embedded applications including golf, no need to have the phone in the loop.
Hi, Your video is very informative. I will probably buy this watch because your video explain those features clearly. May I ask you a question…In the settings, Language : is « french » available ? I would like to know if I can choose « FRENCH » as language for this watch. Thanks!
Hi I have reconnected my watch since last month , and have played different golf courses. But I’ve seen bike coming often and today , I tried to get back to golf I tried to take off bike I saw my phone discarding bike Until now , back from golf course i realize it’s turned off I’ve put it on charge it’s not getting any charge as the watch face remains dark after 2 hours Maybe I pressed too much the buttons Can I please get help to reactivate watch
The only thing I know to do at this point is a hard reset. You do that by holding the middle physical button on the right of the watch down for 30 seconds. This of course requires that the watch have some power. If when plugged in, you still get no power, make sure you have the USB plugged into a working USB outlet (maybe try another one). If that does not work, you will likely have to seek out support directly from Garmin
Great tutorial, you should have more views! I have an s60 paired to ct10 sensors, and sadly have found Garmin’s manual and tutorials almost useless. Learned much more from you. I laid off from golf for a year and now would like to reset my club statistics as I have a new set. Any idea on the best way to do it? Garmin says it can be done but is completely useless in explaining how! Remove the clubs on the golf app, or retire them and what is the difference anyways? Any help greatly appreciated.
I don't own an S62, but I have now tried one my friend has. It is a definite upgrade because it is just enough bigger to be even easier to read/use, and most importantly, it is faster. the scrolling on the green/fairway views is now nice and fast, and not laggy like my S60
Nice video. Under the advanced golf apps where you can choose a club for example a 7 iron it shows 7 iron typical and then maximum. if you scroll up to next screen it shows a graph of percentages for middle, left, right, back and center. I'm not sure is that is correct. How does it know where you missed the shot with an iron?
Garmin should just throw their current user manual away. Burn it maybe. They should instead include a link to this demo. Then the manual that comes with the watch would actually be good for something.
Thanks for the video. I’ve had my watch for a couple rounds and couldn’t find how to choose club selection or how to turn that setting on. Really appreciate it
Haven't took mine onto the course yet but when I tick yes to keep score to have a look at the course it doesn't ask me what tee I want to play off it just asks me if I'm playing off the men's or womens tee why is this please?
Glad it helped. I made it because I got frustrated with the piece meal instructions and videos I saw and thought I would just record something that I wish I had available when I got the watch.
From the watch face (when the watch is showing an actual watch on the screen), hit the middle button on the right side of the watch itself, scroll all the way down and select "SETTINGS", scroll all the way down from that screen and select "SYSTEM", scroll down from that screen and select "UNITS", select "DISTANCE" and from there you can choose either Yards or Meters.

My heartfelt thanks to you upwright32 for your most informative & practical tutorial on the Gramin S60 which I bought some months ago. Your tutorial is most precise & comprehensible as I have been struggling with using the S60 whether at home/ on the course/user manual/ direct liaise with the local agent. All those efforts were a waste of time & bought only disappointment. Garmin must learn that their manual is absolutely useless. In fact, I regretted having bought the Garmin S60 whilst I sold my handheld Garmin S6 which I found useless. Thank you again, upwright32. Salute to you.
thank you for your garmin golf watch video. i have a learning disability, reading, writing , Memorizing details. Things that are hard for me. But you are patient when nice and slow, I have had this watch for over 2 years. Tried watching videos that just talked too fast. I am not dumb or anything like that I just don't catch information they talk fast. Anyway again thank you for your patience and Helping me finally understand how to use this watch. Garmin does make a good product. thank you rob
Great tutorial. I just bought this watch about 2 months ago and was still not aware of all its functions. With this video I am more aware of what this watch can do on and off the course. Thank you
I have just watched your tutorial after having my watch for over a month. I did the typical bloke thing, where I didn’t bother with the instruction manual. I would have done well to have watched your video initially, as I have now learnt how to actually use my watch for the first time. 🙄 Thanks very much buddy, much appreciated 👍🏻
Great review man! Looking for a new watch, and I wish your reviews were offered for every one. IRL reviews, cheers! *edit: is battery power a concern, or is it just low from fiddling with it? In short, how’s the battery on this watch?*
For golf, it will usually last two full rounds. That said, I would not go out and start a round if you are around 50% charged, because it’s close. I’ve run out at 17 or 18 when doing that. If not golfing, and just wearing the watch, I get about a week.
This is one of the best videos that I have seen. So clear you are. It’s just commendable. I would rather term it a great service. Hats 🎩 off to you. Well done 👏🏻. God bless. Cheers 🥂
My Garmin s60 won’t scroll easily. It just constantly selects the item on the screen and opens it. Any suggestions? It’s incredibly hard to swipe through
Unfortunately I don’t have a good answer. You have to make sure you don’t just touch the screen and release too soon. The swiping has to be a bit deliberate, and it does take a little moment before it takes the action to actually move the screen. My opinion is the watch (all S60s, not just yours) are underpowered from a cpu perspective. The s62 is definitely an improvement, but I don’t have one either because who can afford to just buy them every year? Anyway, just be sure you don’t bounce your finger off too soon, and be as deliberate and patient as you can. Not a great answer, but that’s the best i got!
