Hello friends, just a friendly reminder that we’re on season 4 of the comprehensive guide to neuro bass. You can find season 2 and 3 on my channel, and 4 is a masterclass for arcanum members. Thank you so much for the 100k, I really appreciate you all watching this!

I want to start off by saying I'm not even a follower of this specific genre. I mainly started looking for sound design tutorials like this through my love of Iglooghost and Kai Whiston. But this is honestly the BEST music production tutorial I have ever watched, either on youtube or on a paid site. And trust me I have seen more than I can count. Because of your teaching style and pacing I was able to mess around and experiment while watching the video and found I really internalized much of what you said because I understood and heard why you were doing it. Showing your workflow and the creative directions you would take things was SOO helpful! Thank you so much man and I look forward to checking out your other videos.
@Alckemy

Yo, thanks so much! I think the process is always more important than the sound. One trick you may pick up here might just be what you needed to connect the dots to another sound. Thanks for your kind words^^

It's an understatement to say this is a quality guide. I've been producing for almost 12 years now, origins in ambient music - Which doesnt transition too well into the bass side of the industry as you would vise versa, but honestly in the past years i've been doing a lot of bass design and resampling. My biggest problem has always been getting that clear cut sound you hear in Noisia's design for example (everyone's goals presumably haha), particularly getting the high end back after processing - And my god did this video REALLY hit the nail on the head! Your workflow is very much alike my own but with steps I've completely missed or just misunderstood. I feel like most of the videos on this topic get a bit away from the people trying to teach it, either by them suddenly deciding to "flex their knowledge" and jumping the gun a little or just overlooking crucial parts of the process. You did neither and your calm and straightforward method of showing how it's supposed to be done really and truly helped me out. Thank you for your awesome work, You've earned yourself a membership. I'll definitely stay tuned!
@Alckemy
@Alckemy 2 года назад
Thanks so much! I’m really glad this video was helpful That being said I do things much different to a way more streamlined process, and I have a lot of answers covering your high end issues within. Please check out season 2 and 3, and if you still need more information consider the season 4 masterclass for the high tier members.

Wow. That transpose at 45:12 was like a revelation for me.. KOAN sound does those bass solo fills where it sounds like there's a million pitch and filter modulations within a second or two. To think it'd be as simple as resample + pitch bend.

Are you implying neuro basses aren't the most fascinating thing ever? :P I liked that you consciously didn't loop the sound in the background the whole time. There's also a video on making glitch percussion in which you can use to layer your main drums :) if that doesn't answer your question I'd be happy to make what you're looking for!
@NATmusic27
@NATmusic27 5 лет назад
@@Alckemy Totally deserved compliments dude! I'll watch them for sure tomorrow. So I'll explain my self better: you search on youtube or anywhere "how to create a snare" or kick, and you find Virtual Riot tutorials or Au5's ones about kicks and snare but they just teach you always the same type of snare, the simplest one with an attack of whatever kind, a body and a tail. Then I scroll through my Vengeance snares or Black octopus' Leviathan snares and hear all sort of much more complex ones that also have some kind of "pre-shift" shorter or longer, they are layered with something or are just simple snares with no shifts but of some other kind of snares than I can't get with that VR/Au5 technique. Vengeance has been doing that for years and maybe kept their techniques secret so I'm not surprised it's difficult to find any tutorial but damn, since I'm going so deep with sound design I think there's nothing wrong in designing my own drums and actually that would make more sense and my and everybody's music more unique... Actually hear this please, this is some specific request with audio examples: www.dropbox.com/s/cvps7q35b94ijo5/Sound%20Design%20quest.wav?dl=0

Damn, that was a dope tutorial, thanks so much! Need to get my hands on Ableton and work on both PT and Ableton. Also getting Serum real soon then!

MichaelBogaMusic thank you! Most of this stuff should be relatively independent of daw and synth though, you may have to bus or resample instead

@@Alckemy Oh yeah definitely, i can do all of it in PT, it's just that Ableton has a tone of amazing features to offer, and i'm like maybe i should combine both ahah.

Awesome video! The best I've seen on Neuro Bass. I would just add KiloHearts' Disperser before Trash and add LFO tool to modulate the pinch in the 700hz range to really add some girth and grit to the movement; adds a huge dimension to the sound. Great designing and a great layer of effects to get movement and interest into the sound, though. Subscribed!

HyBound yes! Excellent. This is a guide not a postulate^^ I love that you already have ideas to make the sound your own; that’s what it’s all about!

@@Alckemy even when you filmed this, it's better than what I can do in Neurofunk. since I use Linux as an OS, I don't have VSTs. I think I have LVM2 plugins instead
@Alckemy
@Alckemy 2 года назад
@@fl0wedm612 you don’t have to have any of the plugins I use, it’s a matter of the process :) if you have ableton or bitwig you can definitely do this with 1st party effects

dont take my word for it, but I think using the Utility for low end mono just takes the left channel and uses that, where as other plugins actuley sum the left and right and monos that. Just something i heard somewhere. Great tut, thanks

Hello! I never mind comments like these because they open doors for learning. as far as I know I thought that Live 10's utility had a rework since live 9, where you would be correct. a couple things to consider is that in live 9 people would solo either the L or R channel in order to mono their sub, but, that's not always a bad thing depending on what the sound is. the goal in mind is to have a consistent sub in mono, so I guess I see both reasons of why this may/may not work. furthermore, would you mind if I shoutout your username in a future video where we can explore this? seems like an interesting video. I will not make it without consent.

@@Alckemy yeah sure man, no issue with that. yeah, youre probably right, I have only just picked up Live 10 and didnt notice they built the utility from thr ground up. was just interesting since there will be different movment in the sub depending on if you use the L, the R or a sum of both!

@@SwitchUpBroadcast Thank you^^ I think it's a good opportunity to explore! honestly I'm not totally sure if that's true myself but we will find out in my next video. thanks again for your feedback
