I think part of the issue missing from the convo about sex in marriage is that men can often use sex as a stress as reliever or a coping mechanism for life issues masking as having a “higher sex drive” than their partner. Men need to be honest about that. Hence the need for more self-awareness, emotional intelligence, and therapy. Women’s bodies are not tools. Sexual intimacy is a source for connection, reproduction, and more. So let’s bring this fact into the convo too because it’s def overlooked.

I stopped dating and put my focus on God for two years. I met my husband on Christmas Eve in a game, on my phone, called Words For Friends and we will be married for seven years in December. GOD IS AMAZING! You can't put limits on God. He can do the impossible!!! 👐🏾☝🏽☝🏽☝🏽☝🏽❤❤❤❤

Being a single woman hoping to be a wife one day I am grateful to God for these types of videos. We need more married couples having these types of talks on social media and giving good advice to people who are either married or looking to get married. I realize that there are so many single people who don’t know what it means to be a wife or husband or what submission in marriage really is. I think the reason is because they are getting advice from loud and wrong people on the internet. Thank you for giving people the tools and advice that you did not get so that they can be successful in their marriage or future marriage.

I love this because even though Jackie rip the Band-Aid off and tell Ezekiel to tell his story, you can tell by their laughter and the way they can talk about it is there's full deliverance. There's no shame because he knows that he's been delivered, that's the only way you can talk about something so clearly.. .. God is so good with his grace and his Mercy

I prayed so hard to have a boyfriend and someone show me love since I was feeling so lonely. I put the work in to fix myself from the trauma I had experienced that trapped me into not deserving love. This year has been my yes year for going out and trying new things. I went out to the golf range with my friend not having showered for like 4 days, no makeup, stanky and ended up meeting an amazing guy who loves me for who I am. So much pressure going on dates in my past trying to dress and present myself as perfect. Gods timing is something else 😂

My marriage started as 2 unbelievers then I became a believer n it was not easy to be patient and sit back have faith in Christ that He would work on my husband's heart. Sure enough now we are both born again, loving the Lord errday. Lol The sex life changed but it was my husband who wasn't as active as I was loll...little did I know it was God's perfect plan to work on me!! I had a problem, I relied on sex for confirmation, validation etc. God was working on me to rely only on Him! After 10+ yrs we are on the same page. God is so good on everything He does!

"I'm being serious too" "You don't feel challenged" 😂 Preston is too much! It don't take but a little for him, the way he has the hots for his wife and she blushes everytime its so adorable. This was a great conversation. When I was married I did withhold sex as punishment but it was also because I noticed a pattern in my husband where he was spiritually and emotionally "dumping" inside of me and it was a transferring of energy. So no when you had a bad day at work I don't want you to blow my back out because then you feel better and now I feel like crap. When instead we could've prayed about it together or something else. I just got tired of feeling like a dumpster and I had nowhere to place my worries, fears, or things that frustrated me. I was going to God double time because I was carrying his burdens and mine but he wasn't going to the cross on my behalf. I would have rather us war together through prayer and also in the bedroom.

I feel you about addiction. We all go through it. Like for example with food. I be like "I'm gonna start eating healthy. But after I eat this medium pizza by myself." 😩 Or "I'm halfway through the pizza and now I'm full. I should but I need to eat the rest because I don't want to waste this pizza because tomorrow I start my diet "

That is so true. When I was abstaining for years & when I allowed the flesh to win, it totally discussed me. I went right back to abstaining & what a great feeling to stay strong & free from sex.

A man definitely has to be attracted to a woman mentally, spiritually, and physically for that connection to be dynamic. Anything less truly is shallow and will bore that man. He may even become irritated by the lack of holistic attraction that he has for that woman.

Thank you for this podcast. This episode especially. I'm a 19 year old male. I used to identify as bisexual and God saved me from that. Coming into a church space (in university) has been so awkward for me especially where I see so many young Christians dating and Sinning in a heterosexual manner and it is accepted. I've just had so much insecurity when it came to dating because I'm generally not attracted to most women (especially sexually)and I've been asked about it a lot. It's just been a prayer in my heart. I want a relationship but I don't know with who because I haven’t connected with anyone. I partially think it's out of fear but I don't know. I have a lot of sisters in christ that build me up and vice versa and I'm always questioned as to why I'm not in a relationship with any of them, what Mr Azonwu said about treating your sisters in Christ well without the expectation of marriage has just affirmed me that I'm on the right path. I'm South African by the way. May the Lord continue to bless you all 🙏🏾

When Jackie talked about smoking after being saved it really resonated with me, I grew up in church but only attended to be a good daughter, I was the golden child in peoples faces then did whatever I wanted in private Cus no one suspected me, even after I encountered the lord I kept smoking but I began to always feel tormented when I did I would always feel highly anxious and hear voices that sounded like people arguing, It was almost never a good experience but I just wouldn’t stop, I continued for a bout a year, I would smoke vapes too and would never take anyone seriously that warned me against it as I couldn’t find anything in the bible that explicitly warned against it. at first I threw away all my grinders and papers but after a while I started university and had more freedom than ever and would smoke a lot with friends, it still was an anxious experience but I wouldn’t stop, like Jackie I would smoke whenever anxious bored or upset, it would “heighten” my creativity, but also my anxiety. It felt almost like routine like I had to. Even if I didn’t want to. It took me a while to stop and I jumped around with how often I’d do it, I’d limit myself and stopped vapes but picked up cigarettes, really and truly I was only smoking to distract myself from feeling, I was emotionally mature for other people but totally emotionally irresponsible with myself and used smoking to help me bypass my feelings even more. as of now I haven’t smoked in about a month and a half and this is the longest I’ve gone in the last 2 years, Thank you God

We need to dial back on this new teaching in churches of “women you need to make yourself available, you need to position yourself, you need to, you need to”…etc! We should first of all focus on God and His instructions for your life, and in turn, He (GOD) will reveal to you places you need to be available and what “positioning” looks like for YOU. My dear sisters, don’t get pressured with the message of “position yourself”. So much balance in what Jackie said and I love it!!❤

To listen to a podcast with black people who also talk about God, relationships is amazingggg im excited to binge watch these videos ❤ as a 22 year old who isn’t dating. Can y’all do a Q&A podcast answering our questions😃? Can we talk about the realness of sex in Christian homes? Women don’t want to withhold sex as punishment, arguing/disagreements/annoyances interfere with our emotions, therefore we don’t want to have sex…we need the right emotions to relax our mind in order for our bodies to relax for sex.

This is very insightful and fun to listen to. The part where Jackie said there’s not in our control how we’ll meet our partner was a highlight for me because I just don’t agree with all the motion that singles should go out more often and join this and that with the sole purpose to meet someone. I think it will happen in God’s timing and just hearing someone say that is reassuring. Also picked up a lot of wisdom that’s good to know as a single preparing to get married. Thanks you all, ❤

Th convo about attraction is so necessary. I agree with Ki that liking someone who looks like you is natural and normal but to say specifically you don’t want the very look that you have is very telling of some deeper issues. Attractions are shaped, as a teacher I monitor so much of what we watch and I have seen how my little kids began to prefer vanilla skin because that is who you see on your favorite shows. I have been on a mission since to find brown people who do educational videos. That’s just an example of how biases are formed.

The amount of laughter here and wisdom just shows what is inside each of you and the maturity and depth you all have in your relationship with God and with each other. May many of us have such great relationships

I see what they’re saying but pretty much every man in the Bible was with a beautiful woman. Sarah was so pretty that Abraham had to say that she’s his sister so they dont kill him for her. The Bible talked about Rebekah’s beauty at least 3 times, she’s “fair” etc so the thing is, men will always look at the outside and God will always look at the inside, it’s our nature. It’s only when we align with Gods will, we see the inside. It’s easier for us women to overlook a few imperfections but men not so much especially “societally attractive” men.

Amen to the part about the belief that we can’t manufacture God’s will! God is sovereign and will control when you meet your spouse 🙌🏾 You can go out and be everywhere and still not meet your spouse until His timing ⏱️ I loved the Dunkin Doughnuts analogy 😂

I heavily agree with what Preston stated around the 37:16 mark because witnessing and understanding the eternal relationship a believer has with another as a brother or sister in Christ respectively leads to contentment with the establishment of that relationship no matter what it blossoms into whether that be maintained as friends or grow into dating and/or spousal relationship.
