Ben wrote and performed on the studio debut, The Principle of Evil Made Flesh, and all 1992 demos: Invoking The Unclean, Orgiastic Pleasures Foul, and Total Fucking Darkness. Throughout this chat, Ben shares his thoughts and opinions on his tenure in the group. Ben also gives us some insight into what he has been doing in the many years since he left the group and the music he is releasing these days. Ben is a great bloke, and it was a treat to catch up with him!

It's hugely insightful to learn the history of this era of the band; demos, Principal, V Empire and Dusk... The latter two are among my all time favorite records; they're truly phenomenal. These podcasts are an absolute treat. Huge respect to Ben (and Paul) for their professionalism and maturity reflecting on that time. Huge respect for The Blood Divine too, I rocked the 'Bleed Divine Blood' shirt back then! Thank you again, these are so great to listen to, Andrew, you're awesome! Hooked me in with Stewart, now I'm working through everything from that era. I was always so proud we had our own British Black Metal with CoF 🇬🇧

Congrats on getting Ben finally! Great insight from a great guy and keyboardist. I knew about the Goetia story, but he opened up the story on many things....i must have missed the fact that the previous version of Dusk' is available now, plus Benjamin has given us his blessing, so heh. Look forward to hearing Paul Ryan, if you get round to that.

Another excellent interview and I was really saddened to hear of the murder of Andrea Meyer. Rest in Power, Andrea. BTW, if I remember rightly, the guy who got arrested was just going about his daily business. The graveyard vandalism was some kid in Kent who was copying the Norwegian guys. They were definitely two separate events.
@ScarsandGuitarspodcast
@ScarsandGuitarspodcast 2 года назад
There you go, I knew someone would know about the grave desecration incident. The t-shirt controversy was a big deal, even if it was a storm in a teacup. Rarely am I moved by the loss of someone I don’t know, but when I heard about Andrea’s death I stopped what I was doing. I had been trying to reach her. She’s a very important member of the lineup.
@justhannah3960
@justhannah3960 2 года назад
@@ScarsandGuitarspodcast These talks with ex-members of CoF have brought back so many memories for me and made me rather nostalgic. So, I decided to do a little digging. It was four guys who did the graveyard desecration in Kent and one of them (Paul Timms) turned up to court wearing the "Jesus is a Cunt" T-shirt. And the man who was arrested for wearing that same shirt was definitely an entirely unrelated incident. There's even a news report about the desecration here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-OuC5WYsDDZY.html&ab_channel=TorturedShallowGrave Anyway, thanks again for these talks. They're great and, if you do publish your book on the band's early era, I'll buy it in a heartbeat. Keep us updated.

Is it possible to sign up somewhere/somehow to get notified on when this book you're writing will be released? Andrea Haugens' contribution to Satyricon is on Nemesis Divina,in the end of the first song. She also had her own music projects like Aghast,Nebelhexen,Hagalaz Runedance and she wrote books. Books about interpretation of dreams,and ancient/pre-christian traditions of our Nordic European ancestors. The idiot that killed her was a Danish national,not Belgian. About the book,i think you should also try to get hold of John Kennedy. He's the founder of Hecate Enthroned and was briefly in Cradle of Filth. I once read somewhere that it was he who learned Dani how to do these high-pitched screams,but im not sure if that's correct. Really enjoyed the interviews i ve seen so far. Keep it up!!!

@@ScarsandGuitarspodcast I will subscribe there! Cool! Really cool idea you got to interview people that were in Cradle when the band released their best albums. When i discoverd heavy music,i got two songs by Cradle from a radio metalshow. I didnt even know their name or even the style called 'black metal'. This were songs from when only 'The Prinicple...' was out. Great to get all these insights! Keep up the good work!!

Another nice one. Dutch CoFfan since 1998 here. Good old days! Wod be cool if you could meet some members from the FtCtE or Midian period as well, just after the explosive period early 99. People like Dave Hirscheimer, Was Sarginson, Martin Powell (he'll burn Dani to the ground). Maybe also some session players from the early period like Rishi Mehta and Jon Kennedy. Perhaps Keith Appleton? Or Frater Nihil (Neil Harding).
