"I went into the dumpsters behind Bob's"....well that didn't trigger any horrible images for me (a combination of BOB and the thing behind Winkies). Thanks for this, always great to hear David interviewed.

Speaking of bats. I, with my family (wife and two son's - pre teen) visited Carlsbad Cavern and stayed to watch the bats (200,000) fly out of the cavern into the night. We were able to smell them well before we could see them. The scent was an amazingly pleasant, musky smell. Took around 20 minutes for the majority to spiral up into the surrounding area. This was in the summer. A moonless night (well before the horizontal oil boom). I took some remote roads (all of the roads in this part of Texas (Loving County) are remote) and we stopped to look at the stars. I have never before, or since, had a better view of the Milky Way. Just a glowing stripe across the sky, with a few bright stars you could actually pick out. My both sons wanted to become Astrophysicist for quite a few years after. I hope you enjoy reading this as I had remembering it.

Yes, I too was there, amazing when from time to time a bat even flies about 2 feet over your head, feeling the air flow from the wings, I guess it's in New Mexico (near Texas border) The cavern itself is also amazing, walking down (not with the lift) I made a lot of amazing photographs.

I imagine Bob's is a BigBoy restaurant and I remember them under a lot of different names, like Elby's , Manners, Frisch's, and a million others. After a gig, my band would go into the local (Steubenville, OH) Elby's BigBoy and always get a hot-fudge ice cream cake. I can't remember if they were 24 hours but they had to be open really late because some of the gigs would go until 1 or 2 AM. It was a very Lynchian experience in those days to be among the milieu who would still be around at that time hanging out at a BigBoy's.

Wonderful interview. Great work Chris and Dean. Two questions you didn't ask, but I might suggest you ask next time you talk to David Lynch: 1) Is David going to make a film about the life of Maharishi? I heard he was considering it at one point. 2) Would he consider moving to Fairfield and making this his home, or home base?
@chrisbusch5457
@chrisbusch5457 3 года назад
Thanks Alexander. I think the Maharishi project must be on hold. Pretty sure there's no way David will leave his artist complex/home in the Hollywood Hills.

The reason most people don’t get into transcendental meditation is because they can’t afford it or don’t know how to access it.
