Thanks, Jon, for all you've done for the Reaper community over the years. You, Kenny and all the rest have been amazing by putting the user's education front and center. I loved your comment about buying 'cheap gear.' I just picked up a 35+ year old Roland U-220 PCM sound module. It's a true MIDI rack mount synth where the input is only via MIDI in. Somehow I figured out how to use ReaInsert to trigger the unit via a midi track in Reaper. Sent the signal to the midi out of my interface which I connected that to the Roland's MIDI in. Then I hooked the Rolands' stereo outputs back into two channels of my interface which I picked up with ReaInsert. After pinging the latency it all worked a treat. Before your instruction vids I would have been terrified of trying to figure that out. Now, not so much, lol!

Great interview - thank you! Jon has helped me big time since I moved from Logic to Reaper some years ago - Jon, you are truly appreciated and the value you bring to our community is huge.

this guy is great. his advice about learning small parts is tip-top. music-making devices can be really hard to learn - the best way is to have someone show you things. and that is what Jon does so well. also he is nice and that puts one totally at ease. which makes all the difference

Do you know how to use Google? It works really good to avoid looking like a dope in public. Just saying!
