It's time to leave Haigh Country Park after witnessing the Northern Lights from our Narrowboat. We head up the beautiful Johnson Hillock flight of locks at Chorley on the Leeds Liverpool Canal. Wow, I could easily spend two weeks in that spot. Or two months for that matter! Simply gorgeous. I must admit, as a fellow dog lover it's hard for me to watch Dexter slowing down. I can't imagine what it's like for you guys. Well, actually I can, been there many times. He's such a lovely boy. I never would have thought I'd become attached to a dog that I've never met in person but for those of us that watch your channel regularly it feels like he belongs to all of us. And we all love him. Anyway, didn't meant to get melancholy there!

Hey Mike. It definitely was a beautiful spot. Almost didn’t want to leave. It breaks my heart to see him age. He is definitely living his best life and we love him to bits. The gas bubble has gone now but the sight is now different. He has an appointment at the end of the month to see if anything else is needed. Aww thank you, I have really been trying to tone up and lose weight. I feel loads better. Hugs to you and have a lovely week ❤️

Just love how quiet it is when you move away from bank 😊 you have my dream boat 😊 price of a small two bedroom house no doubt but worth it I feel. Dexter pottering about more slowly than former years but he looks content and probably happier than if you in a big house and needed to leave him most of day to work full time to pay a mortgage.

Thanks Christine. Glad Paul’s eye is now on the mend. I have lost 1 1/2 stone since last year and feel loads better for it. The locks and cycling definitely help compliment the gym too. It really was so kind of them to leave Dexter a pressie. He is just the sweetest. Have a lovely weekend ❤️

Not a good place to lose concentration - in a lock! Our canopy frame is like yours and sticks out the back when not in use. In a lock we always lift it over our heads and have it facing forwards. Loved the video

It is definitely getting there Heidi. Northern lights were incredible. Never thought we would see them from our boat. I most definitely did get my workout. It was back breaking. Thanks for a lovely vlog, the places you get to moor up are astounding, you really can pick them. Shame about the pram frame but I am sure it would straighten out with the correct percussive maintenance tool ( hammer) after all, it was once a straight piece of bar. 🤗☮️

Hey Crichie. We really have been blessed with some beautiful moorings. Unfortunately, the bar had to be repurchased 😬. We attempted a rubber mallet and got it sort of straight but it needed to be precise for our new covers. All good now though. Hope you have a great weekend ♥️

That bow thruster is really a good piece of gear. The glass roof, it is so clean and gave an interesting optical illusion as your narrowboat passes under bridges.

Hey Philip. The gas bubble has completely dissolved in his eye. Wish we were sailing the med with all the rain we have had. Heidi changed her plans, 😢, we would have loved to cruise with her. We loved her company on the Weaver a year and a bit ago. Paris was amazing. Such a beautiful city and everyone was so friendly. Have a lovely week and take care ❤️

After all the work he did, Anthony needs a much-needed vacation as we call it here in the States. Those locks are massive! Both of you get better from the surgery and respiratory problems. I live in Washington State on the eastern side and we've had a lot of wind and having asthma and allergies make it worse. Today, I feel like I have a head cold!

Welcome home. We got back yesterday from our delayed Paris trip. Boating definitely is a great community. We love it. Paul now has a cough. I am great though. Off for a run later. I have really been trying to lose weight. Hard for me to tell if it is working. Paul has a checkup on his eye at the end of this month, so fingers crossed. We never did do a comparison, this may be something we should consider for a future vlog. Hope you had a good time away. Have a good week ❤️

Hey Helen. Glad you enjoy. Dexter is such a gentle soul. Tumbled spuds is basically par boiled potatoes and then roughly mash (not to a smooth consistency) with plenty of pepper and a little salt. It sits on top of the mince like a cottage pie. People are so kind. Dexter loved his toy. Have a great weekend ❤️

Wow the lights, amazing. It’s 1 degree here in Dartmoor, Victoria as I write, just went and “put another log on the fire” and here you guys are in T-shirts, but I love the cold. I couldn’t walk across the lock gates like that, it’s way to high for me, I don’t do heights, I’m grateful I’m only 5’ 2” if I was any taller I’d have to crawl as it would be to high for me. LOL. This is a very pretty trip, I’m loving what you’re doing. I reckon Heidi would be a fun person to travel with. Oh hell no the frame. Hey Pauline. I have to admit, I prefer to be cold that hot. The weather has recently changed and we seem to be getting lots of rain. Ironically , Paul is 6’ and hates heights 😂. I think I told you, but hell I’d not expect you to remember with all the posts you get, we ran out of water in our tank a few weeks ago, just so little rain; all the farmers (cattle) are saying they have never seen it so dry, it’s costing them a fortune getting hay brought in so we’d be grateful for some of your rain. Well there you go we did see the northern Lights Down in the south west Dart moor . A lot of people did go the next night as they did think it would happen again. But no they did miss the lights,

Ouch, your poor frame. Hope you could get it fixed ok. Just lost my favourite windlass to the canal sprites today and that was bad enough. Those locks are hard work though we found many of the L and L locks were. Love the lady photobomber at the last lock lol.

Dexter is adorable and what an amazing age, we have a Springer Spaniel who is 14 years and 4 months. We have recently bought an Innopet Mamute dog stroller which folds down and is invaluable for when our George gets too tired. Maybe good for Dexter?

😂. I can’t help myself Kathy. It is all in good jest though. The gas bubble in Paul’s eye has completely gone now so fingers crossed his checkup is ok at the end of the month. The frame had to be replaced. Costly but if metal 😂. Definitely been trying to loose weight, 21ILBs so far. This boating life must be having a good effect on us both. Dexter is a sweet boy bless him. A rubber hammer maybe with lots of cloth around it when you tap it gently back into shape. Guess it will always be a bit weak in that area but should work hopefully……would insurance cover it or maybe you dont want to use insurance due to increase in premiums if you do. Oh yeah dont forget Anthony that drinking lots of water and warm drinks very good for clearing a chest infection….

Hey Lisa. We tried the rubber mallet thing, it was ok but because we were getting new covers, they had to fit perfectly, so we had to replace the bar 😢. Thanks for the tip. I am usually good with hydration and tend to drink at least 2 litres a day. Have a great week ❤️

Great to see that your eye seems to be much better, Paul. BTW, those lovely bluebells are much rarer here in Germany, but we happen to live close to one of the few places where they blossom in the wild in a small wood. Always a great destination for a photo trip during the season.
