Hello Wildflowers! In this episode, we’ll be celebrating another holiday on the fae-witch calendar, the first harvest festival, known as Lammas or Lughnasagh. We'll try our hand at making my version of a corn dolly - a witch's poppet made from thrifted fabric in the form of a white stag (after the harvest god, Lugh). We'll also gather some herbs and flowers to make a delicious cheesy biscuit loaf.

Oh I'm so glad you like it, yes, it's strange for us here in Australia and New Zealand, because all the shops are filled with Yule decorations in summer, and Easter Eggs in the fall... so confusing!

@@theramblingrose_ yes it sure does! Technology, news, politics, people just not how they were when I was young and always in a hurry. I often look at them with cell phones everywhere they go, always looking at a screen and wonder what pleasure they find it that. I find peace with my five cats and two little dogs, reading, gardening and peace from their world. I guess this fairy is getting old at 64 😂

I must say this: There is a very particular wispy dress,that graces your stunning form,it is my favorite! It is a sort of pumpkin orange,and black,a most lovely pattern. Thank you Alessandra. The first nations calendar is, obviously, so much more in tune with the natural world. And there are such uncanny similarities to the ancient Celtic observations too. There's so many great dairy alternatives these days, it's really wonderful. Although I dream of having a large farm one day so I can be a mama to some rescue goats. But I can barely keep on top of the weeding, as you can see from this video 😂

Bonjour again. I was so looking forward to your video. I long for spring as we are covered in snow here in Quebec. But each season has its purpose and we must appreciate every one of them as you say. Thought to let you know that I have purchased a variety of crystals to place in my garden this spring. I am now studying which one is best for which plant . Would you have any recommendations ?

Bonjour Beautiful Linda (that's my Mum's name 🥰)! Spring will arrive soon enough, as it always does, in that beautiful predictability of mother nature. Ooh, what crystals did you choose? Rose quartz is perfect for any fluffy or fragrant blooms like roses, that you would make lotions or charm bags, or do love spells with... think of anything that feels like a heart opening up. Citrine is great for your sunny, energetic flowers like sunflowers, marigolds and calendula. Perhaps I'll do a whole episode on this? But mostly, the colour correspondences are a bit of a 'cheat sheet' - a green stone will enhance leaf production etc.

Was that some yarrow I spotted in your garden? I found yarrow, tansy, and wormwood at a roadside plant stall, I’ve planted the wormwood near the chicken pen, but I don’t know much about the other plants and their uses?

Here in Australia, unfortunately, we are forced to celebrate traditional pagan seasonal festivals outside our natural rhythms... thanks capitalism and globalisation! So yeah, we have Christmas in the sweltering heat of summer with Santas in shopping malls and fake snow when its 38 degrees outside...Easter in Autumn with bunnies and tulips AND then we have Halloween in the middle of Spring. It's ridiculous! 🌹xx
