Love that you kept the fall into the creek in the video. Wading is an art with uncomfortable consequences.

What a beautiful stream. Reminds me of the Eastern Sierras.

Fished my first stream yesterday here in Scotland in the Tenkara way. Almost 40 years rod and reel, and I'm loving Tenkara for the brown trout as much as the streams I'd overlooked for so long. Thankyou for your inspiring videos, tips and the odd nugget of advice, you're a top guy :)

That's great to hear! I'd love to fish in Scotland someday!󠁧

I think you’d love it Tristan! Scotland is smaller than Idaho, and easy to travel around. Most folks fish the big stuff and miss out on the more interesting (IMO) streams here which are pretty underfished in comparison. I know you like to fish alone, but if you ever do make it over on your adventures I’d love to show you around. Please give me shout if you do. 👍

By my quick count this is the 45th video to feature the Mizuchi; only the second to feature the Ukiyo. Thanks for sharing!

Yes, the Mizuchi came out in 2019, the Ukiyo just last year.

Tristen, thank you for showing the falls along with the good fishing.. As a old Disabled Lady who actually falls two or three times a trip.. gives me hope. My first excursion to the Tri-Basin area was difficult and the only fish I caught were Browns... Wyoming access for the Disabled is very challenging. Destiny

I wish streams and rivers here in Ireland were as clean as those over there. We have very few rivers left here now that are not polluted. Honestly breaks my heart when I watch your videos, as I remember when most of Irelands waterways were like this. Sorry Tristan, your videos put a smile on my face, but I had to get that out there.

I'm sorry to hear that. Not all the creeks here are pristine, of course, but there are still multiple lifetimes of fishing in the western United States to be had on creeks like this. Thanks for watching.

It seems you were getting better results in sunlight. Cool little creek by the highway.

“Fishing new creeks is my favorite thing.” I’m with you 100%. Nothing like the excitement of exploration, the anticipation of good looking habitat, and the thrill of what’s lurking around the next bend in the creek. Well done sir.

Well , not a lot of trout here in Texas , but , if you fall in , the waters warm . I have " accidently " fallen in many times in the middle of summer ! Not a ton of fish this time , but , some mighty fine scenery , and , no people . The parks where I usually fish are full of screamin kids , barkin dogs and weirdos ! I'd watch just for the scenery and serenity , catchin fish is a bonus . Thanks for takin us along 😎👍👍

Maybe I have missed it, but I would love to see you talk about how you fish a level line. All of it from the cast to how you choose to what it does on the water.

I also love finding success in a new creek or river. The struggle of discerning its structure and pools. But if I may share something that keeps me coming back to streams, a favorite quote; “no man steps in the same river twice, for it is not the same river and he is not the same man.” -Heraclitus I also really love this kind of fishing because even the same stream is constantly changing, throughout the day the seasons and years. May fishing always bring you peace, perspective and happiness as it does me.

Have TA you ever thought about doing saltwater tenkara 👀👀👀???
@TenkaraAddict
@TenkaraAddict 3 дня назад
Sure, but it's just not where my heart lies. I love being in the mountain creeks. I'll fish saltwater with a tenkara rod eventually, but in the mean time, I've got plenty of creeks to keep me busy 😁

9’ level line on what length of the mizuchi? I just got my mizuchi and figuring it all out. Haven’t caught anything ,yet. But I’ll keep at it. Are you fishing the original mizuchi or the softer rod?

Beautiful creek. However, I have found that when the water is so Crystal Clear, it's too sterile for trout to live.
@martygrove3986

With respect to fish ID. Brook trout are char. Rainbows and cutthroat are true trout. To tell a char from a trout you can look at their spots - char have light spots (white or yellow to red) on a dark body, while trout have dark spots (brown to black) on a light body. Most of the fish caught from the small utah creek appeared to be cutthroat. I was unconvinced that any (with the possible exception of the 9-incher) were brook trout. You had the better look but ...
@martygrove3986
@martygrove3986 3 дня назад
I went back and looked more closely - at least two were brrok trout

I'm not sure those fish on the last creek were cutthroats. I always identify cutthroat or cutbows by the red slash on their throat. Those looked like wild rainbows to me. Also, on that second creek, you started catching fish after losing that first fly. Maybe that pattern just wasn't working. I know you usually have success using just about any fly, but sometimes you do have to try something different. I often wonder why you don't fish dry flies more. Is it harder on the rods you use, or are they more of a pain to use? I like using dry flies when they work, and I just wonder why you don't use them.
