Really wish we'd gotten Gridman Sigma back in the day. The idea of the main villain reforming and coming back as a new hero absolutely fascinates me. It would've been a cool idea to try out. Here's hoping SSSS.Gridman gets a second series. :-)
Just one correction: DiC, from _DiC Entertainment,_ is pronounced "deek", not "dick". An understandable mistake as the people who named that company should've noticed themselves.
DIC is now owned by Canada's Cookie Jar Entertainment, which in turn holds the rights to other shows like Inspector Gadget, and both Sonic The Hedgehog cartoons.
It's fine as long as it can attract more people into actually checking out Gridman. Some people actually stick around and its nice to see the audience for this anime steadily growing.
As a Tokusatsu fan I'm loving SSSS Gridman. While I haven't seen the original Gridman or Superhuman Samurai Syber Squad, I was at least aware of them and their history prior to both the anime expo short, and the announcement for the anime. This definitely feels more like a Tokusatsu anime more so than what the Garo animes were doing. Hopefully the upcoming Ultraman anime in 2019 keeps it going. Part of me does hope that after this, anime fans will check out some Tokusatsu shows as I personally feel it's an underappreciated part of Japanese media.
It'd be easier to get into toku if it was more widely available. Shout! Factory has been a godsend with Sentai, but there's no Kamen Rider here in the west at all, outside of an out-of-print run of Masked Rider: The First. I don't even think Dragon Knight got a dvd release here in the states.
Yeah me too. Seems I can understand the whole concept of the series without even watching the tokusatsu series. For me, it's more like an original anime rather than adaptation of a tokusatsu series because the concept they brought are extremely different
@@hideriplays2626 the concept isn't that different really, only reason you can understand the anime so well is because the majority of the tokusatsu genre is made of simple to follow plots that are so simple literally anyone fan or not can understand them
Good job with the video. I liked how you mentioned that Gridman's animation is paying tribute to other mecha, mainly ones animated by obari like Dangaioh, Dragonar, and a bunch of the brave shows.
Another member of the staff that should be noted is head screenwriter Keiichi Hasegawa, who's had extensive involvement in various tokusatsu series, most especially the Ultraman series. As someone that loved the Superhuman Samurai Syber Squad show it blows my mind that S4Gridman spent four episodes recapturing that saturday morning feeling I had before I realized it. Not to jerk off the show but it's a strangely nostalgic feeling watching this show. Like revisiting your elementary school and seeing it's got a new coat of paint. S4 Gridman is familar and comfortable, yet also new and exciting.
SSSS Gridman definitely one of the best anime this season. I wonder how it fare with the upcoming Ultraman anime next year, especially considering the new ultraman isn't a giant & more like a guyfer or kamen rider exo suit.
I really hated the way the new Ultraman show looked. I mean, the manga looks super great, but the Netflix anime just couldn't really capture the same feel and the way everyone was constantly moving made a lot of the characters look really weird and plastic-y. That show really could have used a better director and maybe a different style of lighting or something.
Ho, so we now have to look for more than usual amounts of Obari references, in addition ALL THE TRANSFORMERS ones. I'll have re-watch the series frame by frame when it finishes, won't I...

It was a good ass show,nice animation,it was more 2d trigger animation(that nice kind of animation),and the last battle was also fully 2d.Plus it developed my interest for THIICCCCC THIGHS
"Final Step" Seems highly assuming. SSSS.Gridman is amazingly popular this season, if this is the final step, it would be an amazing close out. However, considering how well it is doing, I can see another season or a follow up series.

well, Superhuman Samurai Syber Squad is the US adaptation of the original japanese tv series Denkou Choujin Gridman. just like the Power Rangers are the US adaptation of the original japanese tv series Super Sentai. and SSSS.Gridman anime is actually a direct sequel to the original tv series Denkou Choujin Gridman. :3
Wait! So if Gridman Sigma was completed and released, the potential US adaptation would have Malcom as the hero? If SSSS Gridman gets a DVD release, I want the English dub intro redone as a cover of the Syber Squad theme.
Hey, bravo for noticing the similarity between Super Samurai Syber Squad title and SSSS Gridman title. I don't know if lot's of people heard about that but for my self I've realise it while I was reading information on a wiki. Also, It's kind of weird when you hear in an anime that a character (this "Alexis" guy) have the exact same first name than yourself. Each time it happen to me I just can't shake this feeling (more akward when the character is a different gender), does any one feel the same way or is it just me ?
Only some references. For example, in episode 8, when Yuta and Sho were hanging out in 7-21, the ending of Ultraman R/B started. Also, the fact that Sho and Akane are Ultra nerds are undeniable

GOD I AM SO FUCKING HAPPY RIGHT NOW, I used to think Super Human Samurai (and the original gridman toys) I had/watched was all a fucking fever dream. Then a few years ago I saw that Studio TRIGGER short and man it got me good, and I wished for an anime, and only just found out today that it actually happened!! I was also trying to find images because I knew he used to have a dragon (Of which I had a toy of) and found Dyna/Drago, AND THEN saw a picture of a toy-gun version of Dyna's canon mode that I completely forgot I had, but then came rushing back with a shit load of memories from my childhood and taking that thing everywhere.... today has been one of the best nostalgia trips of my 28 year old life lol.
Meh, its good, i mean the Tokusatsu part and Ultra are present and very strong, Gridman A.K.A Servo in Super Human Samurai Syber Squad its the same as he always was and the designs are pretty damn detailed and good looking, its a good blend between how they used to look back in the original series and something like the newer Ultramans only in animated form. *BUT* it does have some problems maybe they are just tiny nitpicks but they are quite annoying as you progress through the series: -The plot feels kinda slow and "hazy": i know its a Tokusatsu inspired anime and the plot should not matter only just for key points in the story, but since this show insisted on having a "plot" i expected that they evolved it more quickly than what we got, the series is planned for 11 episodes and that's it, guess what they do for the whole 9 episodes of the series? nothing than just trying to explain why Yuta have amnesia and the relationships they have with the "villian" and themselves, its like 70% of the episode is related to this trivial and most of the time boring and slow ass dramas they have and the rest its the actual Gridman fighting against the monster of the day while moving a tiny inch in the overall story *AND ITS 11 EPISODES ONLY* not like 25 or 30 this is just too slow and they play the card of "in the final 3 episodes you will know everything you want to know about this story" so if you are going to explain everything at the 3 last episodes then what the hell im doing watching 9 episodes of pure filler and unrelated stuff then? may i just go and watch the last 3 ones since its for what im here for. -It doesnt do enough tribute to the original series: While i do like the little cameos to lesser tokusatsu/mecha shows and other Trigger/Studio Khara/Gainax shows (Evangelion, Kill la Kill, FLCL, Inferno Cop and so on) and Transformers as well i could rather have more cameos or things about the original Gridman, yes the fact that the vehicles and weapons are exactly like the original are enough i know but no "Yume no Hero", no even a silly throwback at SSSS what? the only throwback is the SSSS in the goddamn title? not even "They gonna effin' up! and kick some gigabutt" or even a blonde kid that looks like the main protagonist in the norteamerican version that is just there in the background like they were always in the same classroom? no but Trigger has the time to do a Little Witch Academia cameo but not anything from the original series? sorry but Devilman Crybaby had tons of references and throwbacks at the original and the spinoffs, but this that is even more important than Devilman has *LESS* throwbacks to the original source material? kinda lackluster sometimes. -Too much focus on the "relationships" on the 2 main girls, having a sort of "Evangelization" vibe to them: Now its not like its the same as Evangelion, but it suffers from what Evangelion had going on with Rei and Asuka, of course not as bad as Asuka *THANK GOD FOR THAT* but i cant help to grind my teeths everytime Akane does a freaking Kaiju just because somebody was "mean" to her or "didnt liked how they acted towards her" it doesnt make her more evil nor "twisted" it makes her a run of the mill "yandere" that if she doesnt like something she will throw you a fucking kaiju on your ass, not to mention how fucking insufrable she is towards Anti (not that Anti is a good character because is so one dimentional that it hurts to look at him, but cool design i guess) because "she didnt get what she wanted, wah! wah!" is childish and the series focus *WAY TOO MUCH ON HER* and Rikka *SPECIALLY RIKKA* because i know she is """sexy"""? (i dunno because she isnt something to be so fucking turn on by it, its not like i want to jack off like every 10 seconds like some people out there does (why? im not a purist because believe me i do like some Bible Black or some "other" hentai on my own but thing is, she isnt something to be so "excited" about it so why?) and Trigger knows this because they said they dont want anything pornographic about her and Akane and went on a crusade to ban such things, but you made those 2 that way *ON PROPOSE* so why the heck are you doing that?! you dont wanted that?! then *DONT RELAY ON CHEAP FUCKING FANSERVICE FOR FUCK SAKES* ! its always the same with Trigger and it pisses me off to no end because people fucking spam this fucking "thicc thighs" to an disgusting degree that everytime now i go to search for Gridman google autocompletes with "Gridman Rikka's Thighs" and *IT PISSES ME THE FUCK OFF* !!! and this is the "Evangelization" they focus way too much in trivial and stupid things and less and less on what the show is about, its about GRIDMAN no fucking Akane's tits and Rikka's thighs! its about the Hyper Agent from cyberspace not who is the good "waifu" That's about it, and this is just from a fan of the Ultra and mainly Gridman, i love this spinoff of the Ultra series its pretty unique and quite ahead of its time, without Gridman the Ultra series could just died off long time ago and it deserves much more than being the next "Evangelion" or the "Summer anime shlock" of the year, its good but you had to put throught alot of stupid shit to actually see a glimpse of what Gridman used to be, heck the villians are most of the time with this "passive agressive" actitude that ticks me off royally, i like better Killokhan AKA King Digifier and that social outcast than a cute/lewd tokusatsu fan animu girl with the Digital Evil Emperor "Otosan" with a fucking lame ass name as "Alexis Kerib" why not using Killokhan since by this point nobody saw SSSS? its at least more threatening than "Alexis" its like Lord Zed was called Lord Bob....its fucking hillarious and not a threatening name for what's suppoused to be *THE VILLIAN OF THE SERIES* I do like SSSS Gridman, but i could love if it was more like the original at least in a basic structure and less than "Kill la Kill" or "TTGL" because it just turns me off those things that isnt what you expect from a Ultraman spinoff like Gridman is, if people love it more power to them but i as a fan im kinda underwhelmed that this is what we got instead of Gridman Sigma.
Gridman only had 1 actual series before now, compared to Ultraman having a plethora of series that's still going at the time of this reply. Between the two, Ultraman will have more options to watch and enjoy, compared to Gridman, so it's not really a contest on which will be better.
Remember, kids: you can be loved. Even if you did things wrong, even if you feel that the people who care about you were tricked into it and would never accept the real you, it's not true. You can be happy in the real world, just like Akane, when you learn to accept yourself in spite of your flaws.
