I was on a charter off Mackay a few years back. We had a Minkie circle us for a bit showing white belly just like that. Asked around and apparently, it's a mating behavior. They see the white hull as a turn on.
Great video mate. You did some awesome shallow water / estuary fly fishing it your previous videos, so I will throw a challenge for some blue water fly fishing!!!
Awesome mate, brings back some great memories fishing out of Hammo, the oval was the place for big mackerel back then, keep up the great work Matt, cheers Yogi ✌️
Great video as always keep it up, as for the whale situation in my opinion which could be completely wrong, but the first blow you hear was really hard which is a way they show dominance and same with the tail throw, it also a way they play or communicate from a distance with other whales letting them know where they are or could be in a playful mood they are sometimes also really curious animals, theres a lot we still dont know about them tbh. Also everything you said you did regarding driving around them you did everything correctly. P.s i worked with a whale watching company for 6 years and spent a lot of time on the water chasing these awesome animals 🤙🏻🎣
Matty growing up on the sunny coast a mates old man was a pro fisher and always had smoked cobe in the fridge. We would just pull in on the pushies and grab a hand full and keep going on our way. What a treat to eat fish in a different way. Onto in brother.
Nice! Made me hungry watching the cookup, love smoked cobe also golden trevs are great in th smoker too. Awesome whale action this time of year in nth Qld and its 5knts again today! After so much crappy rainy weather. Cheers 🦈
Another cracking video as always mate. I always find that I learn something new with each clip that you shoot. And its often really subtle, nuanced ways of thinking and approaching each drift. And that whale footage was absolutely spectacular
Hey Matt, that would be one of your best videos I have watched over the years that I have followed you. At least in the top three anyway Good that you shared the locations, although having Sailed up around that area a few times it was good to see them again. Keep up the good work Mate. Cheers Marty.
Loving the videos! Would be great if you could do a “boat/gear” special. I’m sure many would like to learn more about what you like and would change on your boat and also more about the gear you use.
Show us that new smoker in action will you !? Thanx so much for all the sharing ! I recon you got it all on your backyard but if you ever start the “Pelagic Persuit World Tour”, don’t forget to come by Portugal !
No idea about the whales body language? But great footage, and to start the morning! question, the Cobia what gear you land it on?? impressive fish for what looks like light gear?? my favourite fish to smoke. another great video.... well worth watching
smoked, pan seared, made into a dip. big chunky flakes make for at great sandwich with those LING. got my first Land Based LING from Okaloosa Island Pier in Okaloosa Island, FL, USA in 2022 on an NLBN Swim bait. ranks up with most Grouper families in the USA with a large, flaky meat
Hey Matt I watch ur videos and love them I can't believe just last week I got that sauce and marinated some pork steaks with it yumbo and have been catching spotted mackeral here in Broome will b trying it for sure 😀 👌
The best Char Siu sauce I've ever made has hoisin in it. Hoisin is comparable to a heavy teri sauce with a Chinese five-spice base. Toasted sesame seeds is a required condiment in my kitchen, for sure, flavor multiplier.
The whale was basking, so I don't feel it intended you any harm. It probably saw a couple of good guys fishing and, waving a tail, wished you all the fisherman's luck in the world.
Pretty common behaviour for the humpbacks Matty, here in Hervey Bay we get them doing it up on the West coast of Fraser Island up in platypus bay thru these months pretty regularly He’s just checking you out, we calling it mugging. So you basically got mugged by a whale
Bro, how the hell don't you have over 1m subscribers? You're being robbed by the algorithm! Have you considered an electric trolling motor for the contender, so when you're drifting over a good show u can spot lock on it?
