A Crazy Sea Rescue on an MSC Cruise

This was an unexpected video to make. We were on a cruise aboard the MSC Meraviglia between Cuba and Florida when we spotted something in the water in the distance. This video is all about the ensuing rescue at sea of 24 refugees fleeing Cuba. If you enjoy this video, please feel free to comment, subscribe, and give us a thumbs up.

Yes indeed, I was on board MSC and witnessed this rescue effort first hand. You see it on TV and meh, it's just news. But in real life with real people, such a different outlook. I cried a tiny bit when they announced on board that so many people were rescued. Great job MSC!! ♥️

It was truly amazing to watch. I was impressed how they handled the rough seas, and got everyone on board without dropping anyone in the water.

Yes, it's truly a miracle they were spotted and rescued. Somebody on that boat was praying hard.

I was on the 1230 Meraviglia and we did the same however different outcome . Those on the boat refused. Absolutely great capture. Thanks for the post

you were probably headed away from t he US , was just on pride 1/15 sailing and we tried to rescue a boat of them but we were headed towards grand cayman so they refused

No, we were on the way back. These people were definitely in no position to refuse. Their boat likely would not have made it.

I was on the same sailing, Sharon, and hopefully those folks made it to safety as their boat was a speedboat and a bit larger. We had calmer seas, as well. It’s all heartbreaking, though.

Incredible. Praise God, indeed. We were on the Meraviglia over New Year’s and gave supplies to a refugee boat but they declined further assistance.

Spectacular video presentation. Excellent choice of background music as well, it added to the tension I felt. So glad it all worked out well. I know this is about the refugees, but I get neurotic about video presentation sometimes, LOL. Just a terrific video. Thanks.

Fantastic filming ... it really shows what happened so much better than any of the news organizations. I'm glad those ppl were rescued --- do you have ANY idea what the protocol is once they were taken onboard? Did they have to be quarantined (I'm sure there were some injuries or sun exposure to be treated and definitely they were likely dehydrated - and, of course, we live in a COVID world), what kind of lodging were they given, how long did they stay on the ship, and are they just returned to Cuba? It says so much about where you come from if you're willing to risk such a scenario in order just to escape...

They were kept in a separate area of the ship, and stayed on board until we docked in Florida. I don't know for a fact, but as I understand it, if they are apprehended at sea they are sent back to Cuba. I would like to think that's not the case but that's what I've heard. Horrible that a place can be so bad that people are willing to take that kind of risk.
