This is nice for the TB "Bang, Bend Playside, or Bounce" and a great way to deal with a Fat Daddy 3t! Run some 2 Man off this with orbit from the slot in 2 x 2. Great play Coach!

Coming back to this, my question still is "why bother pulling, just run Duo". My only answer is it might be easier for the bsG to wrap to the bsLB than it is for the G/C to dbl team and scrape off to that LBer.

Yes, and more people don’t run Duo than do. That being said, I agree.

@CoachChip more people should be running Duo imo, but maybe it's a good thing it stays more of a "secret" from most coaches haha. Thanks for the reply coach!

What's your preference and why coach? Honestly seems easier than regular power for the lineman and easier marriage between zone and gap for the backs

I’m not hedging when I say this, but it really depends on your OL. I’ve done them all and it was because of what the kids did best. If we aren’t good at doubles, we GDB across the board. If we are good at doubling and coming off to the BSLB, we use traditional. If we are good at doubling, we can use the one in the video. We did teach our inside PSG to come off on the Double if the PSLB inserted in A Gap. If the LB went over the top to the B Gap, we stayed on the Double and the RB stayed on his A Gap path.

Oh, yes, you are right about it marrying better with Zone. It also synchs nicely with Duo. Bring in a TE and you can fold your sniffer and let the TE turn out on the DE.

When running this blocking scheme, I'm guessing we want that double vertical not horizontal like the traditional? @coachchip

@@Cjizzle-bc7my YES, you are correct.

Hey coach, how do you think the type of running back affects this play? For me id think id like this block scheme with a shiftier back whereas with a more traditional back id rather the normal power blocks, but i want to know what youd think.

It would have to be a RB that can read the LB through the double team.
