That's so sweet! I've had this happen when I used to make and sell cakes. The time and energy that went into each order only for it to be cancelled or for them to block you.
We just know 😅 if someone doesn't take back a cake with this type of message on it you know damn well they back with "stupid" being stupid themselves 😅 by 3rd call I would have just texted her "so you back with stupid, huh?" Cuz bruh 😂😂😂
I was thinking the same thing as the story kept going, lol... funny that they went so far as to order a personal cake with a very specific message, lol
In the future, if it's still edible even if a touch stale, bring it to a food bank! If a struggling single parent has to choose between slightly stale cake for their kid or no cake, they'll love the slightly stale cake. You can also offer to college students if you're near a university, there are a lot of hungry kids living in vans right now. Edit to add: I grew up on food bank food for a lot of years. This is from experience, cake is appreciated by families and students.
They aren't going to give that cake to someone. Just because people don't have money doesn't mean they want to eat stale stuff. You act like people with no money are pets. Just give them whatever you don't want.
@@taahiramcgee I was the family with no money. We ate stale cakes from store shelves that were much lower quality. What do you think food drives gave us? Shit was nothing but green beans and corn some weeks. A cake, even not fresh, was still cake to break that up.
@@volkova6209no dumbass, not sexism. She literally ordered a cake that labelled said partner stupid, cancelled and blocked with no contact. She’s clearly a very toxic individual.
@@christypriest5756 I would offer it as samples if people wanted to try it. Plus I would grab a big glass of milk and enjoy some. Better yet, ice cream!!!! I am so sorry you got the crappy end of the stick!! . I would definitely be collecting deposits. Possibly give a break to long time, reliable clients!
I've dealt with people like this before, selling stuff online... or even customers at work. It's like... do you WANT what you said you wanted or not? I sometimes do worry about them, because how fucked up is your life that you can't even keep up with shit you ordered? This is why always take deposits for stuff that takes forever to do and has potential for "no show". It isn't fair for the people who put the work in.
Y'all make your pieces so small! I would only get 10 servings out of it. Plus the way you cut that cake the center pieces don't have much good icing on them. I always slice like pie pieces. That way they look bigger and the all get some of the icing from the edge. Just how we do it in Oklahoma.
@@zoommiesbay agree with the op but no it isn’t toxic to go back to someone who was toxic.. manipulation and abuse is real and the fact that you’re a male saying this is completely uncalled for. It’s like y’all never learn that it’s common and real until you’re abused yourself.
@@meemaw2200I think this whole situation is kind of toxic tho, down to the cake itself… and she screwed the cake lady over for “stupid” from the sounds of it, that screams careless and inconsiderate to me, Who ever this is probably is the type to keep talking about her s/o to her friends make it a whole issue, than turn around and bury the issues they had, and this isn’t all her fault, he could suck ass. But u gotta shut up as a friend, it feels draining to put your energy into. You keep giving advice when you’re asked, and watching someone you love suffer in a toxic situation isn’t fun, I’ve been in the situation one too many times before.
Absolutely and so boundaries and expectations should be laid upfront. That’s one of the reasons I charge upfront as a personal trainer. I’ve heard horror stories of other trainers that don’t get paid and chase payments for months after. There was one who had to stop her training and get a full time job so she would get paid on time.
@@mamaolu my very first thought was shock that she relaxed on her deposit policy with the price of eggs being what they are right now. It’s sad that her trusting nature and kindness wasn’t reciprocated.
It's horrid that someone would do that. That's a beautiful cake. Just an idea, if someone asks for a negative message on their cake, make them pay before you make the cake. 💜
seeing some of these “the cake looks dry” comments… it’s been a week since the cake was made, so no duh it’s going to be? it’s not fresh anymore 😭 which is why she couldn’t re-sell it either. y’all need to stop typing and put that critical thinking into action!
I believe it's just a view from some non-US countries, where this kind of cake would rather be considered a brownie or something - it's just not something common to even have a cake that's only 2 layers without additional soaking it with sirups and such, and with a cream that's this thick. Non-US kind of cakes would just go bad in a couple of days and turn into a mash. No days would make those cakes dry, it's just a very different understanding of cakes :)
@@liralemur Yeah, that's right, if the cake is in the refrigerator for more than 4 days it would be not fresh anymore and maybe soaked in. We have lighter cream that is less sweet and has less fats in them, so it evens out. The cakes are fluffy with amazing taste, we often use fresh berries etc :) so to me US-American cakes just looks dry. And from what I heard from European people is that the typical american icing is just way too sweet and not that delicious, but I only tasted one in my life, so idk
I'm so sorry Auntie. But hey, look at it like this, the caption still fits. You aren't with the "stupid" customer anymore! Edit: To the people in the comments assuming I am a minor. Breaking news, I am not. In my culture, you call strangers "auntie" or "uncle" out of respect. This can also be done with family friends, elders, ect. It's a title of respect. Please stop assuming I'm a child just because your culture doesn't do this. I'm not white, and my culture is just different than the "norm". It's very annoying and patronizing to be assumed to be a child because of this.
😳😂😂🤣 lol ‘s so fitting! Mimo should stick w her rules nd all. Ppl be taking advantage and everything!!😠😤 bet it was a troll that wanted to waste her time
I think they were probably scared that they would still be required to pay for it as it was a custom cake ordered and made especially for them. It's not fair to have the cakemaker "eat" (pun intended) all the costs of the cake...but to be quite honest, it doesn't look like a really complicated cake either.
I was a Cake Designer for over 30 years with the same company. You definitely come across some real jerks in the business. This was a common occurrence at my store. Keep a file of bad customers that way you don’t get duped again. PS….you did a great job on the cake❤🎉
@@darylenelorde8388 you must watch a lot of crime shows. That's actually legit to think what you just wrote. There are a lot of violent situations happening and being reported a lot lately dealing with the "stupids".
So happy to have come to the comments and see someone donate to you for such a beautiful cake. Your time and effort are valuable and I’m glad you had a somewhat happy ending after the “lesson learned” was all said and done. Your art is truly beautiful and I’m glad people appreciate it. ❤
One of my worst cake decorating stories is when a mom ordered a Disney princess cake for her 6 year old. Then came in with her daughter, whose face lit up when she saw what her birthday cake looked like. But then the mom complained about the color of the grass, "it's too green! I'm not paying for that." And then dragged the little girl right back out sans cake. My heart broke for that little girl. I didn't even get a chance to offer to change the color of the grass. Hell, I could have made it pink and purple polkadotted if she thought green was a stupid color for grass. I never could understand parents who destroy their children's birthdays.
Sounds like she wanted to get a deep discount or free cake. Not gonna happen Karen from the Land of Entitlement. Princess is going to elope faster than Princess Anna from Frozen.
As someone who is starting their own dessert business I appreciate all the advice you give ❤️ I just cant believe someone would do this to you, but I am so glad you have such a good community who is here for you 🥰
The world is a better place because of people like you and I hope you don't get jaded because of your kindness and wish you the best on your adventure with desserts!
I needed this exact video! I ordered a 2 layer 8 inch from a pastry chef and had no idea how to cut it correctly. Thank you!! I shared it to myself so i dont lose it!
I’ve never seen a comment section give this much money to a content creator before. But she deserves it. I feel bad for her and I give her credit for her patience.
Damn! I’m so sorry that people are like this! I can’t fathom people who do this? Like would you like someone to waste your time and money and products? No you wouldn’t, so don’t do it to other people. How disgusting
This is our culture now: The person is done with you so doesn't even have the respect to let you know they don't want the cake anymore. Sad, but true. Glad you are putting the deposit rule back in place.
Nailed it on it being the culture now. It’s only getting worse 🙄 There is no respect left for other people’s time energy or money put into it . Such a sad world we live in.
Yes I'm a private chef and when this happens it's sad. Heck we had 10 no shows at my wedding last month. Confirmed people w a plus 1 8 no call no show. Cost me 2000$ in catering. 😔 it's our culture.
@@992Eirini Wow, that's just awful. I wonder if some day in the not-too-distant future people will have to put down a deposit to go to a wedding, fully-refundable once the wedding is over and you showed up. Sorry your friends and family did that to you - just awful, but not at all surprising in today's world, sadly enough.
Kind of hard to resell that design. Need to start payment due at time of order pickup unless canceled by baking time. That way you can still resell or use the cake, but otherwise people are more motivated to pick up what has already been paid for.
@@rebekahweber2413 Hard to resale a double layer chocolate cake?? Bcuz without the decorations that’s all it is. The icing could have been taken off and redone..
@@000fffff I got to help my friend with a cake. That's not enough time but there should be a grace time for cake pickup under the guise of "searching" for the cake.
@@squishroll2183 Canceling would have been for the lady to CALL her and let her know she no longer wanted the cake… INSTEAD she gave her the run around, lied and said she would come tomorrow and then BLOCKED her..
I am pretty sure MiMo has a bannlist for customers like that but since she won’t take that much orders anymore I guess it’s not that important anyway. But it’s a good idea to block them in any way!!
Also always take a deposit. People will be more respectful if they know they have something to lose as well and it increases the chances of them honoring their value of your services. ❤
I'm glad you didn't stay silent about it and instead turned it all around with a video and ended up making more money ❤❤ I love seeing entrepreneurs get a W
they didnt even just ignore you... they ignored you for DAYS, then said "actually yeah ill come get it" then blocked you... absolutely insane lmfao please always get deposits for your cakes some people have commitment issues
What kind of a person goes and blocks someone as kindhearted and good as Mimo?! They should make amends and pay her. It’s not too late to do the right thing here.
I'm so glad the community came out and helped you recoup the costs. Such a shame people make orders and just never show up. It's such a waste of time, materials, and energy.
True enough, that's a nice gesture. Still it might have been nicer to ask the would be client if they would want a make up cake. Assuming nothing truly nefarious, it's always good to make up when possible.
@@SeekingTheLoveThatGodMeans7648 I suppose but I also understand why she wouldn't try to reach out again, given she already tried so many times for the original cake, and the would-be client blocked her number. I just hope she's not too discouraged from this and continues to bake like she always has.
