Classy video, Greg. As somebody who has had only positive experiences interacting, when it could have understandably gone the other way, I respect this a lot. Keep pushing forward.
Howdy! I was about to add a comment and saw that Nick Shabazz was the most recent - that's why I am responding to his not writing my own - because he more than anyone is how I know of your work. Count that as a positive, I am a new subscriber and I wish you all the best of success! I know nothing of old controversies or bulls**ts, I just love connecting with other people involved in deep-core blade habits! So cheers to you and I wish you and your family and business well, may we all love and persue our cutlery addiction for years to come!
I sent Greg a text with a question about my knife. He could’ve answered my question with a two or three sentence reply, but instead he took the time to call me personally and talk to me for five minutes about my knife. Good man.
I have bought 2 knives from MKT. First one I called the shop and ordered, the second in person at the Dallas NRA show. Every time I have ever talked to anyone at MKT it has always been great. I have had the pleasure of talking to Amy on the phone several times when I called the shop and had her add my initials on the blade late in the process , and talked to Greg in person at the NRA show, both of them are personable, respectful, caring and professional. I have always been happy to do business with MKT!
I know I’m late but your the man Greg. 3 Medfords in and more to come. Feels good carrying something that came from a badass like you. Spent a few grand already but quality costs. You got a loyal customer here. Salute 🫡
Greg and Amy. I have had nothing but the best of service from both of you. Greg, I got you on the phone twice and you were a gentleman AND fixed the issue. Thank you both. I own 7 Medford’s and will continue to be a customer. I
My first dealing with MKT was a call to a number I was told was Greg's cell phone. It was on a Sunday evening, around 7:30pm. He did pick up the phone and talked with me from his kitchen. He set me straight on what model I should get for my first MKT (Midi Marauder) and was very enthusiastic and humble. Kept it up Greg.
I emailed in recently and Amy replied very quickly and answered all my questions as well as offered a solution to my issue. Wasn’t exactly what I wanted but replying quickly is key to customer service imo makes you feel like they actually care which I really think they do. I’m 4 medfords deep and counting!
I don’t know if you actually read the comments on your videos, but, hey...hope you do. Firstly, I am really impressed at the humility you have shown here. Kudos, Greg. Secondly, if would b amazing if you replied to comments on RU-vid where questions or suggestions were made. (See your recent USMC Fighter Video). I have four MKT knives now so reckon I’m a reasonable customer. Would just love to know you read and respond to some of this stuff....
Your the man Greg, my experience with you and your company was stellar. We all make mistakes. Your only human. Keep being you and don’t ever compromise!!
Hello MKT, Greg and Amy, I'm new to this community, about 18 months in and am really into it. I now own 4 Medfords and love your stuff. I appreciate the www, at the same time I investigate shit before I believe it. I know this video is 4 years old, but seems to be current non the less. I look forward to more Medfords in my stash and running into you guys down the road. Tell Geoff hello. I met him at Mark's Outdoors knife show earlier this month.
I called custo servi and was like "I got aspergers whassup!?" They were very understanding and proceeded to take down my credit information and helped me purchase 1 of each of their top end models for full price!
Man, Greg! I really love the way you carry yourself! I have 4 Medfords now, and will never have enough...because they are great knives! BUT MORE BECAUSE YOU ARE A GREAT MAN!
I had read some mixed feedback about personal interactions, but being a regular in various knife forums and social media for some 20 years, I know that stories carry and unless I have personal experience, I mostly stay out of it. This may be 3 years old but I think it reflects well on your character still, and if I find a knife and a price i can work with, I would have no qualms about doing business with you, Greg. It's nice to see evidence that people are human beings and willing to admit it.
Thank you for your feedback, Kris. Greg's personality does not resonate with everyone, but he is very honest and straight forward, and willing to accept when he is wrong.
@@MedfordKnifeTool If your personality resonates with everyone then you’re probably as fake as a 3 dollar bill. Just ordered my first Medford knife and really enjoying some of your videos. I don’t agree with everything Greg says but I don’t think he’d want me to…which is one reason why I think he’s great!
Greg, FYI every time I call your company , the person who answers the phone is always polite and helpful. Amy videos on delivery of knives is great, your best asset to the company. I would like a heads up on when the smooth criminal is available for purchase. What is best way to know when I can get one. Mark
Greg listen brother. Now I know you are the captain of the boat, Mrs Medford is your compass. If you notice she doesn't get political. She keeps everything MKT. And to be clear I've chatted with her a true delightful person. With that being said...let her take the wheel and control all customer happiness. The hardest ability for a person to learn. Is the ability to allow. Allow things in your company to be controlled by other talented people. Love you, your company, and life-
You’ll never be able to please everyone. You run a solid business and are a solid man. Some people just don’t like large knives but can’t understand why some of us do, and then want to try and let everyone know why overbuilt knives are worthless.
With your recent video series and videos. I have become more apt to purchase a Medford knife. I'm still into budget knives less than $100. But looking at the current smaller line up, other than buying multiple knives I'm leaning toward saving up for one of yours. Keep it up.
I just wanted to share my history with MKT. I had been a collector of MKT knives for probably 2 years, you can see my collection videos from several months ago. I probably have had 30 Medfords at one point. When I first started collecting their stuff everything was perfect, quick turn arounds for small issues, they fixed stuff for me that they probably didn't have to on their dime etc. This I felt mainly because it ran like a "small mom and pop shop" for a lack of better terms. I had spoken to Greg and Amy a lot on the phone and they were nothing but kind to me. More recently, they are more like a big company (ZT, bench made, etc) which is a great thing! it means they are successful and prospering which I am so happy about, they've worked hard and deserve it. But with that, that relationship of "mom and pop" dies down. I sent in 3 knives the last couple months for various things, a PVD issue on a blade, lock stick, and other normal stuff. On the phone they always tell me around a 1-3 (couple days) turnaround time, which I think is true because my past experiences were like that. I didn't receive one knife back for 1 month, the other two around 3 weeks. The PVD issue one I kinda understand, I sent it in around Blade Show time so I know they are busy, but even after the show, they didn't look at it for another 2 weeks. To be fair, they did upgrade my blade to S35 for free. But the other 2 knives just took a long time. I am not an inpatient person, and I wouldn't mind waiting 3 weeks to get a knife fixed, although not ideal, but nonetheless its okay. My main issue was that I was never contacted about anything. I had to call multiple times every few weeks to figure out the status of my knife, what was going on, or even what was being done to fix it. A lot of the times, they didn't even know at what stage my knife was at or when someone could look at it. On my PVD issue knife, I never even got a response to when the knife was done or that everything with the knife was now okay, it just showed up at my door one day. So this reason is why I don't really collect MKT knives anymore. I will probably get one of their knives again, just maybe not so many. I still love the company, the knives they make, and what they stand for, and I am in no way trying to bash them, they deserve nothing but success and company growth. I just wanted to share my thoughts in case if Greg, Amy or someone from MKT reads it and maybe they could try to find a way to improve communication, thats all.
In the process of growing from "mom and pop" to a much larger company, employees come and go...many of them not as competent as we would like them to be. Processes change and evolve. At our current state, the front office runs very smoothly!! Thank you for your honesty. We hope to "wow" you once again with our excellent customer service -- Amy Medford
Hey there Greg, Edward The Bluetooth here. I am pretty much a nobody here on you tube or any where else for that matter lol, but i have seen some of yout videos and also have seen some of your awesome creations and in my honest opinion your thick and sometimes abrasive demeanor with a suffer no fools mentality flows through into your mind blowing designs and I also believe that if you were more of a push over you would be making knives that were much less robust with thin pink bladed knives with icecream sprinkle scales. That would NOT be Medford knife and tool that I am beginning to fall in love with. Just my HONEST opinion. P.s. I will be getting a couple of your knives when things get better around here.
People complain about this dude a lot but he speaks how he feels. Nowadays we need more people like Greg Medford. I actually just ordered my first Medford. It’s the Medford praetorian scout to be exact. I have been wanting one for a long time. He’s the only custom knife designer that has ever made anything that even remotely interests me. I don’t like crk knives or striders. The praetorian in my opinion looks like something you would take if you were going to be stuck in the outback for weeks at a time. It’s a very thought out design. This dude makes badass knives. Keep it up Greg.
I’ve been a huge fan of your knives for a few years and I’m lucky enough now to own one and can’t wait to increase my collection but I just wanted to say you guys are awesome and you got a lifetime customer and supporter here!
It takes a real man to admit mistakes. I respect you sir. As a martial arts instructor here in Phoenix I understand those fragile egos LOL. We will be visiting your shop real soon.
Greg and Amy as someone who you don’t know but I have spoken to both of you and had a great experience don’t be to hard on yourself we are all human and PS no more production knives for me 4 Medford’s deep! Billy S.
"loyalty, grace, and, honesty" the foundation of any true relationship. Those foundations are pretty hard to find now a days. I've ALWAYS given those things on a default setting. And I expect it back to a fault. I've heard so much shit talked about you. Yet the only vibes I get from you is that you're genuine. And honestly seem like a good guy. People fuck up. And it takes a genuine person to except their fuck ups, and, continue to grow. I can't wait to have the money saved up to buy one of your knives, and, support a true American company.
Hi Greg I have been watching a lot of your videos recently you have definitely improved your tone and approach now I just have to convince my wife to that it's ok to spend $600 plus on a knife
I was a customer when you first started gosh I owned TFF1 TFF2 TFF3 Phatorian G 3 of them. And I admire the honesty. I remember I goofed a sharpening on my knife and I had to send it in. Lol and I remember being imbarresed me with a sharpening video hints why I say I'm Country Boy Smitty you gave me that name. You sir are the best maker period. I pray I can get a new knife to be able to get customer service from you Any. You guys are awesome. Smitty out
I made a Video about a Knife I was having problems with when you had already agreed to take care of it. It was a complete dick move on my part and you called me very respectfully with Grace and question me about it. I appreciate you showing me that leniency. I’ll always be a fan.
I was wondering what name is on your cnc machines ? I was watching a aGrimo ( spell?) and he went down a list of cnc machine makers and none of them were American !
Greg, you've wronged me, as a guy with 5 kids I cant afford one of your knives!!! Lmao! Just kidding bro, well about the wrongdoing... the 5 kids part and cant afford part.....all true. Cool vid though man!
I reckon you’re a normal guy , and as far as integrity , morals , values ? Those are the building blocks we are made of .. lose one and we weaken ourselves , they are the only thing that can’t be taken from and must be given up freely . If someone doesn’t see through to our building blocks and actions (based on that character) and chooses to judge us on a few words .. I say fk em’
You want to make it up to me? Here is how. Be the damn best knife maker making the best knives in the world. I want you to make a knife that I want so badly that I would spend my gambling money on and no longer say to myself, "shit, for that kind of money, I can buy another handgun or a rifle". And if you send me that knife and it does not live up to my expectations, know that I would lose all respect for you regardless if you make it right or not. That my friend is the price you pay for the price you make us pay for your knives.
Hey Greg so I was watching a knife review and then this auto played after, so I’m obviously very late to the party but I wanted to put my two cents in anyways for what it’s worth. So I have met you a number of times over the years at different shows both in your early years and some semi recently and I have never had an issue with you man. You are extremely blunt to be sure but that is only a negative to these modern day snowflakes that actively look for a reason to be offended. In all of our interactions you have been polite, honest and incredibly kind and I just wanted to say thank you. 🙏 Keep on killing it brother, I’ll be sure to check you out at shot show.
the wife and I feel for you Greg haha we started our own business and there were and are days where I try my best but some customers just make you want to pull your hair out, like when they tell you the product came out perfect and then they give you the BUT.... and then its something stupid like well the package was beat up or this or that.. and then I have to explain I cant control the paid and insured shipping and do I put the product in its packaging and then inside another box... but some people just want the world to burn Greg and we cant help them haha and I can soak up a lot when thrown at me but when they try to throw it at my wife its a different thing completely.
I would like to see more people comment the people that work for Medford knifes maybe Greg and Amy should put some of these awsome fabricators in these videos or maybe im mistaken and they do everything themselves but im just a baby in the knife industry im just sayin
I can’t imagine anyone saying anything bad about this guy. When I bought my first Medford about 4-5 years ago, it came with a card and had his number on it. I thought the design was very interesting so I called him up and he answered on one ring and talked to me for 20 minutes until I let go of the call. Who does that? Guys a class act and a veteran and his knives are tanks. Wholeheartedly recommend them.
I texted you "Happy Father's Day".... You responded..."Who is this".... After that...I sold all my MKTs and will never buy one again. A simple "Thank You" would have prevented that. Great knives, great wives....that's all.
Sorry about the interaction. Greg isn't the smoothest guy...I can attest to that. But, he is a very stand-up guy and has a warm heart! (Wife of Greg...Amy Medford)
Lol, I'm sorry but how does that make him anything other than curious? If someone texted me that, and, it wasn't my kid, or a family member, I would ask who it was as well. Maybe if you just told him your name he would've said "thanks man, I appreciate that. How have you been?" I mean it can be awkward getting a text that says "happy father's day" from what seems like a random number. I don't wanna sound like a dick, but it's really weird that you got so bent out of shape over this. When was the last time you had spoken or texted him before the whole father's day thing? I usually don't say anything on disgruntled comments but this one made me stop, and, go "what the fuck"
