TED literally stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design. It's slogan is "Ideas worth spreading." Relax, be more open minded, learn and see something new. Besides, the music and dance are cool. Are we not here to take in something we've never taken in before?
@JamesPeach
@JamesPeach 7 лет назад
Diamond Seraphin Seriously, right. It's not like it was a Britney Spears concert that TED was giving a platform. This dance and poem had meaning and content.
@maxybaer123
@maxybaer123 7 лет назад
umm it wasent either of those three things and yes i get there's the entertainment part but thats not talking about performances its talking about people talking about entertainment
@diamondseraphin9794
@diamondseraphin9794 7 лет назад
maxybaer123 How can you be certain that the Entertainment is only meant to be talked about as opposed to experiencing something entertaining? I'd like to think that the presentations TED puts forth incorporates one, two, or all three of its components. Besides the TED channel can include more than just TED Talks, like this video here.
@DIVAD291
@DIVAD291 7 лет назад
i think a Britney Spears concert has more meaning in it than this.(and im not even joking) please don't confuse intensity in the delivery with actual meaning...its really annoying and makes artist be incredibly shallow while pretending to be deep which is an extremely annoying trend.

A strong and powerful display of words, movement and music. this is exactly what the world needs, more recognition of the humble, quiet, yet intrinsically forceful nature of life. if we want to continue to live on this planet of ours, we need to abandon the ideals of monoculture and instead focus on a permaculture way of living. that is indeed an idea more than worth spreading.

I love how all these so-called 'hardened TED Talk viewers' are so up in arms about an artistic display - saying how "lame TED has become now", despite the fact that they have had performers on their stage for years. (Reggie Watts and Tom Thum to name a few, and they were freaking beatboxers) It kinda makes you think that all the science talks that they so crave is probably too complex for their wannabe keyboard warrior brains. But then again they'll deny that, just like how they'll deny how up in arms they get whenever there's a woman giving the talk.
@JamesPeach
@JamesPeach 7 лет назад
Jamal Hassan My thought is exactly the same. Most of them don't really understand science. But the good thing is that they are trying to by at least watching this channels content. Hopefully they grow to appreciate this kind of science.

Gorgeous, thoughtful dance. There are more ways to communicate than only talking. The poetry was as fluid as the dancing, and as lively a change as the seasons. Honour is respect, is care, and is love. Contemplate on the interconnectivity between all that is within our experience.

Please be kind to each other :) As a dancer myself I thinks that was interesting and beautiful. Mother nature was represented very nice by overall calm dancing and I loved how this fancy tribesman just crushed in there like we humans are doing it on our planet. A really cool IDEA how to choreograph a dance. (some people argue that this is no Idea worth sharing..) If you think this was lame then thats your opinion and just maybe you dont get what a dance can express. If you like technicalfacts and statistics more, I can understand that too (I study Computer Science..) but why are you watching a TED dance video then? ;D I dont watch a tutorial on how to code in python to learn stuff about dancing so.. i hope you get what Im saying. have a nice day and please keep TED friendly

filonin2 TED doesn't owe you anything. If you don't like its content then leave. You don't define what TED is or what it should upload, they do.
@filonin2
@filonin2 7 лет назад
You seem to misunderstand the dynamic here. There's a rating system, we do define whether what they upload makes them $$$ or not. I didn't watch, just thumbed it down. This made them no money.
@eatingchaos
@eatingchaos 7 лет назад
Technology, Entertainment, and Design: these are the words that define TED. Oh, and talk. This is not a talk about technology, entertainment, or design.
@JamesPeach
@JamesPeach 7 лет назад
filonin2 That's very interesting. Not only did you thumb down something without first watching it, that way you can give an honest opinion. But you also think a few people get to decide what a channel does with its property. RU-vidr's don't make much money from views. They do this because they want, so they don't care about an uneducated opinion.

I don't know about you internet folks, but what I took away from this presentation was that the Earth is the reason we are alive and we once appreciated that aspect of it, but we no longer respect or for the most part, care for it, I didn't get a religious vibe from it, but a message through art from various cultures that we need to take care of the planet
@josephgeorge2954
@josephgeorge2954 7 лет назад
beliefless dogmasless it doesn't need to, if all the humans die, it won't, but if the planet dies, we all die, it might be considered an unfair arrangement, but it's the only one we have
@josephgeorge2954
@josephgeorge2954 7 лет назад
beliefless dogmasless I don't understand how it is a belief, it's factual that this is our only planet we can currently live on, and it's factual that if the planet dies, we die
@josephgeorge2954
@josephgeorge2954 7 лет назад
beliefless dogmasless if this is all a belief why do you bother doing anything? Why do you eat, sleep, wear clothes, talk to people, why do you go through the stages life? As for death, of course I am concerned, I love my friends, family, and this Earth, I want to see my neice and nephew get older, I want to start a family of my own, yes we should accept death in it's natural form, but no one wants to die preemptively except those who might of had terrible lives or just have extremely negative views on the world, again touching on the sky and what not because I get side tracked, I do believe that the is blue 100%, yes someone taught me that, but we are taught nearly every thing from others our entire lives, doesn't make them not true, the color of the sky matches everything I know about the color blue, therefore I believe whole-heartedly that the sky is indeed blue
@BlueSkyBS
@BlueSkyBS 7 лет назад
The Earth will be quite fine, even if all life dies out. It'll still be around for several billion years more, when not a trace of any of us still remains. What this expresses is the need for status-quo, and both the Earth and the universe will have different ideas about that, regardless of whatever we do.
@josephgeorge2954
@josephgeorge2954 7 лет назад
mappyhappychappy of course It will, but while humanity is here, will it maintain the means of hosting organ, carbon based life, or will we ruin it? The balance of Earth's current state of being is fragile

Why do so many people dislike this, it is beautiful and has a meaning. People say it isn't learning, but you are wrong, it is. They are teaching us how lucky we are to exist, how lucky we are that this planet is inhabitable... but we are killing it, we need to stop and think what we are doing. Lots of people have realised what we are doing but have we acted upon it... No Have you acted upon it? (Don't ask me if I have, I am 12 okay) We are so incredibly lucky to have what we do, nature is so beautiful, that is what this is about... Please stop being ignorant and open your eyes...
