I find John's chapters boring ...so in relistening I avoid those but I'm here to listen this scene randomly many a times ...two of the best strategist of westeros Show did dirty with john
I love how you keep Ed’s voice pretty close to actors voice in the show. 100% Ed is my favorite Crow. Everyone has worked at a job and had a coworker like Ed. “Ahhh look. More shit. And I was beginning to wonder what to do for my day.” Nailed it!
@@basedchimera5859 100%....George has written really great side characters. Like the show I have to go back and revisit from time to time just to keep up,with all the characters, their relationship to each other and where in the world they came from how they came to be ect.
@@DavidReadsASoIaF You’re very welcome. I watched and enjoyed the show and unfortunately I just don’t have the time to sit and read a book with work and 2 bands I play bass for and your channel is very entertaining. I heard the show left out parts and characters that was in the books so I’m enjoying the content that wasn’t in the show. Hopefully you will do the Dunk and Egg stories. I had a great “Ah haaa” moment when I realized Egg as Maestrer Amons brother. Both those characters Sir Duncan and Egg was mentioned in the show but vaguely. kill the boy Jon snow ....I love it man! Keep it up!
This reading of the book makes Jon even more relatable, and enjoyable to listen to. His internal dialog cracks me up half the time. Jon would be a blast to chat with about almost anything.
Jon and Davos seem to be the only two people who give Stannis solid advice without poisoning it with self interest... Though, Jon's interest is with Night's Watch and Stannis was the only one to help them, so who better to be king when Night's watch is concerned, but still... Interesting that both of them are low status (Davos is commoner smuggler and Jon is a bstard, yet they're better men than most lords) Melisander... she never leaves Stannis's side, why is she staying behind? Did she see something happen on the wall? I hope she saw White walker attack, that would be cool... I can't wait for long night. We saw it was snowing at the end of last book, so it will probably be winter by the end of this book and white walkers should be already nearing the wall... Does Jon plan something with wildlings... he was eager to leave them behind... risky af
I think there’s something to be said that Ghost doesn’t listen to Jon’s command. “Instead, he ran away”, like Jon has lost control of a part of himself, let alone the watch.
Love Stannis. Weird religious sacrifice aside, He actually listens to counsel, trusts his advisors and uses information to be strategic. He might make a good king!
“Do I need to make you swear an oath before a tree?” “No.” Was that a jape? With Stannis it was hard to tell. Later “Can this man Mors be trusted?” Asked Stannis. Has Mors Umber bent the knee? “Your Grace should have him swear an oath beneath his heart tree.”
Thank U 4 reading these beloved books 📚. I hope we get Winds next year. Love how Jon and Dany are always paired together. If only the books had been finished before S8.
I mean it’s not like Jon has home field advantage allowing him to council Stannis on the politics of the North and a formal education I’m sure Jon who’s never left the North would totally do a better job than Dany
@@lonemotheo1964 Dany has people from Mereen with her in governance but she does not actually try to understand the people of Mereen despite living there, Jon has shown that he can understand people who are culturally different from him (the Freefolk) and manage them, Dany does not even try to understand the complexities of the lives of slaves. This was exposed when she was talking with pit fighters. Dany thinks the world is black and white, she has a very simplistic notion of the world and people. She can't even tell the difference between Stark and Lannister, she does not have the ability to empathize and see things from people's different points of view. That is why she is a horrible leader and will be a worse one in Westeros. Jon, Asha, Tyrion etc are people who should be he leaders.
@@theelectricprince8231 aah no! Daenerys does listen to the mereenise to her own detriment.. At one point she tries to outlaw the wearing of a Tokhar a symbol of the elite slave master class but is advices against it as it would make her seem like a foreign invader On the pit fighters situation her problem was that it would benefit the slavers and after making new rules that benefited the pit fighters they’re reopened You should stop watching the show as the show has a very biased view on Dany and her revolution
@@lonemotheo1964 I am not talking about the show. I said UNDERSTAND and EMPATHIZE, from her POV she lacks this. Tyrion understood the situation on slavers bay better than white savior Daenerys.
@@theelectricprince8231 Are you sure you’re not talking about the show as only in the show is Dany a white savior…. Over and over we’re constantly told that slavery in Essos is not race based we see people from Westoros Lys and even the wildlings who are white being sold into slavery…. The first murder we see in the books is of an unsullied from Lys who are described as fair skinned with blonde hair and blue eyes They made slavery race based and had a former slave Missande die in chains
Jon trying to maneuver around Stannis is great, he wants him to win but can't really help and also has to look out for his own. It's great to see Lord Snow becoming an adult and killing the boy. Kind of a dick move of Stannis to try and bully the Watch into serving him, though
Stannis went north to fight for them and saved them. Every reward he offers gets refuse. Every request he makes gets rebuffed no matter how fair....i can understand the frustration.
if stannis didnt show up the north would be flooded with wildlings. the north has suffered enough through bolton wardenship. stannis is the only southern lord / king to defend the wall. so in that reason alone shows who should be king
I kinda shudder to think what the wall might look like after Martin’s five-year- gap. I wonder why bloodraven, I mean ghost, it’s so interested in Davos’ son. Dead children come last. Everywhere… 😳😳😳
Love my guy ed he keeps me the hopelessness of the nights watch in your face but also stays loyal to Jon, fucking Bowen marsh is that employee who been working to long but still right most times fuck
Honestly I kind of wish Jon would bend the knee to Stannis and become Jon Stark. I know he never would, and that the night's watch would be screwed without him, but man. It would be great.
@@jimboslice6367 - There was, because of who his father really was, not necessarily his mother. 😕🐉 Him being a Targ, Rhagar's son, was what makes things so dangerous. None of the Rebels could suffer a Targ to live. Look at what trouble both Faegon & Dany are gonna bring to the Lannister's rule.
Daily ASOIAF theory 219: Jon Snow when reincarnated in awow (if he is) will be then given by a decree by stanis to become lord stark as he would ask for it and pledge to the north
It just occurred to me that the others could have really fucked with the crows by bringing back the dead carcasses of the venison they had stored underneath the wall, however I imagine their power wouldn’t work there.
From the chapter: ---- “If is a word for fools. We have had no word from Davos. It may be he never reached White Harbor. Arnolf Karstark writes that the storms have been fierce upon the narrow sea. Be that as it may. I have no time to grieve, nor wait upon the whims of Lord Too-Fat. I must consider White Harbor lost to me. Without a son of Winterfell to stand beside me, I can only hope to win the north by battle. *That requires stealing a leaf from my brother’s book. Not that Robert ever read one.* I must deal my foes a mortal blow before they know that I am on them.” (A Dance with Dragons - Chapter 17 - Jon IV)
From the chapter: ---- Jon said, “Winterfell belongs to my sister Sansa.” “I have heard all I need to hear of Lady Lannister and her claim.” The king set the cup aside. “You could bring the north to me. Your father’s bannermen would rally to the son of Eddard Stark. Even Lord Too-Fat-to-Sit-a-Horse. White Harbor would give me a ready source of supply and a secure base to which I could retreat at need. It is not too late to amend your folly, Snow. Take a knee and swear that bastard sword to me, and rise as Jon Stark, Lord of Winterfell and Warden of the North.” How many times will he make me say it? “My sword is sworn to the Night’s Watch.” Stannis looked disgusted. “Your father was a stubborn man as well. Honor, he called it. *Well, honor has its costs, as Lord Eddard learned to his sorrow.* If it gives you any solace, Horpe and Massey are doomed to disappointment. I am more inclined to bestow Winterfell upon Arnolf Karstark. A good northman.” (A Dance with Dragons - Chapter 17 - Jon IV)
@@GodsDumbLamb i don't remember what happened in this chapter but hes like 16 or something. I just don't like him I was happy when he died in the show but that didn't work out too
