A Date at Shenandoah National Park - Blackberry Shakes!

Hoovervilles! A great way to remember Herbert Hoover. Grapes of Wrath directed by John Ford is a great movie that goes along with him. Love the video and thanks for remembering our forefathers.

We recently traveled to Shenandoah. We did the Old Rag Hike to the summit with some fun rock scrambles. I looked through the videos and wasn't sure if you had done that hike or not but wanted to recommend it if you haven't. We love your videos and always watch as we are planning our next national park trips. Thank you!

Randy, What nice weather you had on this visit for the two of you. Sorry you missed the beautiful foliage, but then it would’ve been really crowded. I find it rare that when I go to see the fall colors there isn’t also a lot of people in the way. Olympic National Park is one of the few places we’ve enjoyed fall foliage without those big crowds. Also, nice to go often to the park that’s near where you live, Shanandoah looks like a wonderful and peaceful location. I’m so glad your friends at your church encouraged you to have lunch at the National Park Lodge. It’s sometimes hit and miss with food at these places but looks like you did really well, we try to treat ourselves to a meal at these historic lodges when we can (we have some great ones here in Washington State). Difference between a mile and a half back and 7 miles back. Yea, definitely been in those situations before lol. Food ALWAYS wins. Hear ya on the fall foliage, definitely hit or miss sometimes. We were lucky to have extended our stay around the Smokies and got it at pretty much peak! We usually have bad luck on timing lol. Thanks for sharing sir, this place was awesome! - Shane

Hey Randy and Julie....just watched your Shenendoah N.P Video...as usual, enjoyed watching....Comment about taking Julie out to eat was a good one...cudos to your Church member!!!! We took our two Sons there when they were young and stayed at the Big Meadows Lodge for three days and ate at their restaurant with the high beamed ceiling...Drove all of Skyline Drive, and continued on to the Blue Ridge Parkway all the way to Smokey Mountain N.P.....Very beautiful drive!!!We were living in New York at the time... Hank and Pam from South Texas!!

$100 a night - wow but worth it for your good lady. Hiking, no children, yes that is nice and I know you miss the kids but it is so nice to spend time together, just the two of you. Never mind the wrong trail, it was an awesome trail and the weather looked pretty cool to me and great photos of the girls when they were young. Food at the lodge looked very good and as I love blackberries, the shakes looked good too, especially with ice cream. Looks like you both had a blast, cheers Alan

We met at the top of the channel islands back in June. If you are ever down in NC or SC or Virginia let us know and we'll meet up and go hiking at some cool spots! We went yesterday as a matter of fact.lol

Hey you guys were in our backyard! Actually we’re about an hour from SNP. Was good to see you guys in places we’re familiar with! So Camp Hoover is one of our favorite hikes. We usually bring a picnic and eat on the deck there. The river has trout in it and they say Hoover was an avid fisherman. We like the lodge too. We usually grab food in the pub. At night they have live music. If you camp at Big Meadows it’s nice to have that as a good option in case you don’t feel like cooking. Take care, and happy thanksgiving!

I didn’t realize that Shenandoah national Park was the closest one to you. I’ve never been there before but it looks like they have great trails there. A black berry shake and a freebie is always nice! Great job as always my friend.

We love Shenandoah!! Had such a great time and the icecream is awesome. We didn't have shakes but did have the icecream. Loved this place! Great video!!! Will have to check out all those houses you saw. Didn't do that hike but would like to, next time.

We didn't have the colors for long ourselves - a lot of the leaves were taken off by really big wind storms. This is a beautiful spot. I didn't know about the cabin when I was on that road. Randy, you're cleaning up in the milk shake department! Send one of those my direction next time!

I can’t remember when our Presidents were in office either... it would be nice to have learned about the positive smaller things they did as well as the big events they were involved in. Had to laugh about the peanut butter and your travel food - saw that in person! Love how you made friends with the milkshake lady and the looks from the guys behind 😂😂😂

Haha like the rule of below 40 degrees! Stef and I don’t do cockroaches or nasty hotels either, one reason we got the Airstream! I bet it was nice to get out just the two of you and spend some time together! That’s crazy you haven’t eaten at a lodge before, haha mystery family for the win! The food looked really good!
