In this video , A day in a life of a anesthesiologist, I take you guys on April day in my life from home to work and back (the kids and my husband were on spring break so this morning was chill). This is a first person video perspective of one of my quieter, but mostly typical daily routine as an Anesthesiologist at an academic center. This is a video for all those who are interested in Anesthesiology and becoming an Anesthesiologist and wonder what it’s like. Please relax and enjoy!
My name is Dr. Karen Francois and I am a 5th year Attending physician based out of NY. These stories will chronicle my life with Anesthesia, as an Anesthesiologist and home life with my husband and 3 children. Through these glimpses into my life I hope to inspire and motivate young women or men into seriously considering Anesthesia as a career choice.
I am a Doctor and I as born and raised in the projects of the Bronx NY and I made it to become of highly respected physician , if I can do it then any one else in my situation can do the same.

I usually work 5 days per week. 6, if I elect to do “moonlighting” or over-time.

are their different types of anesthesiologist? for example, a general one or cardio one or is it all the same? Also what did you major in college? I’m currently a high school junior aspiring to be an anesthesiologist and I have a ton of questions 😆

Thanks for watching! Yes there are different types..like you said there are generalists (like me) and specialists who train for an additional year after residency in the areas of cardiac, pediatrics, regional and acute pain management, chronic pain management, obstetrics, thoracic, etc. I was a biology major..check out my other videos..specifically how to become an anesthesiologist and my origin story.
