I lived at 14314 Woodlawn from 1957 to 1967. I was the oldest of the Lancaster family's 8 kids. Went to St. Mary's from 1sr to 7th grade. Our neighbors were the Szymborski, Janiak, Vitalae, Reynders, Martin, Stancik, Pytoski, and Urban families among others. Loved going to Panozzo store for penny pretzels and candy. I vividly remember the 67 blizzard. Played little league in the fields near Tri-City bowling. My dad went to Rich's bar and the Village Pump. We all moved to Hawaii in Nov 67. I've been back several times over the years and got more depressed with each visit. The neighborhood and the town really went downhill. All that's left for me now are the fine childhood memories. Please reply. I would love to hear from someone that remembers the Lancasters.
I used to go to Sibley bowl , so many friends moved out of there as it became more dangerous ! I worked at the Walt’s there as a manager. Never felt safe there . Once a beautiful area, was offered a job managing a grocery store there . Visited the store . No way , wouldn’t live long.
I lived on Grant st just blocks away from Thornridge HS and I remember many Friday nights eating at Damiani's with my family, they had the BEST pizza in town!
@@silveradoLG I went to Thornridge also, what year did your brother graduate? Damiani's - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-qtvNusgjg6M.html
@@silveradoLG - I graduated Thornridge in 1977 so I probably never met him, but I will always remember all of the evenings spent with friends and family eating the best pizza in the Dolton/Riverdale area and the smell, taste of that pizza and the mural on the wall in the dinning room.
This is so sad. I grew up in Dolton on Princeton Ave . Attended Roosevelt grammar school. It makes me so sad to see the place that was so wonderful to grow up in reduced to drive by city. When they tore Robert Taylor projects down, it was a death sentence for little Dolton as the thugs had nowhere to go but out into the burbs. Judge me. I only speak the truth.
Some of the best memories in Dolton. Such a shame that people let this world go to shit. Study Natural Law folks. Check out Mark Passio's vids on Natural Law. The Ultimate Freedom.
I grew up in Dolton - Right down the street from Panozzo's on Woodlawn. So sad what it has become but we got out around 1988 - we knew it was just going to get worse.
Hey, I grew up 144th and Minerva, not far from you. Rode bikes to Panozzo's for baseball cards my entire childhood. We moved out spring 1987. Still miss that place - it was like nowhere else.
@@spiritualhammer392 Hey ! I lived on 14321 Woodlawn, Not far at all. Did you know Judy or Annette Quinn ? They lived a few houses from mine. Mike Shiball ? Glen Sladick ?
