From 17th-century baroque guitar to 12-Tone Dodecaphonic Jazz - it makes sense to me. Just sitting with a guitar and working stuff out, going on a timeless journey. It's all just music. Visit Bruce's website: brucearnold.com for some great music from a legend. If you like what I do, why not "buy me a coffee" by making a donation to www.paypal.com... All donations go to help fund my free videos, research and websites - a sadly not-for-profit venture! Rob

Revelling in the marvel of this latest composition Rob, beautiful, evoking and meditative! Those chord shapes are way out there! It conjures up an atmosphere as if the piece wants to communicate a long lost tale! Well, that's fixed my evening for a settled 8 hours of peaceful sleep! Thanks Rob.

Love all your video's sir and I've learned a great deal from them. I'm 70 now and grew up in Yonkers New York just north of New York City. My first two teachers were two old cats that had been born in Italy. They were real "plectrum" guys playing arch-tops and all kinds of arrangements. I did all the volumes of the Melbay Methods and never regretted it! Ha! I just wish that I could have afforded a tape recorder to record them guys. Keep well and keep picking.

That’s great to hear, Tim. I love the plectrum archtop - its sound and repertoire from 1925 or so to the present. If you haven’t done so, check my interview with William Bay on my website archtopguitar.net/william-bay/

Film Noir Jazz creation with Alien chords . The Day the Earth Stood Still would have been my choice tittle for this haunting piece . Beautiful sir . Merci

Hi there Rob! This is such a hoot. Bruce forwarded your email (and this video) to me. I wrote the words to the "Day in the Badlands" for the recording that came with the book. I was singing along with your playing ;-) I can tell you that Bruce is mighty pleased with your rendition.

Very atmospheric piece…. (Can I just ask what gauge strings you favour for acoustic archtop? Thanks)

It depends...The guitar was initially set up with 14s or 15s and a high action. The sound was HUGE, but it was tough to play, as you can imagine. But it sounded great. After almost a year, I kind of tired of the problems it posed, so it now has a low action and TI 12s, flat wound. Completely different. So, I like it both ways, depending on what I'm playing. The former way would be great for strumming in ensembles, but the later way is great for solo pieces.
