Yoo i live in utah too Cx. You're so lucky your dad is in the welding community. I used to take welding classes at my school last year. Im planning on being a welder but i need help. Im only a jr in highschool.

Im practically a pothead fuck up in high school. Idk what to do after high school and Colledge doesn't seem like the path for me. Welding is the most intrested im in at the moment. I've thought about this job ever since i found out my aunt welds.

Go with plumber, HVAC or electrician. Learn welding later as a side skill.

Do both. My father in law is mechatronic engineer and welder as well. He says welding is used as a side skill.

@@C4_43 its hard if you dont have a steady hand, but its just another thing that takes practice and time to get better at. My welds for class didnt look great until the third week, once you see how its suppose to look it just kinda clicks and makes it easier to achieve. It also pays really well if you can preform well and do a good job

It’s definitely not easy... you will find that out when you try it anyway. It’s also honestly not a very good career path. Good skill to know... not a good career path.

Im also not going to school and i have chosen to become a welder , i dont know which type of welding im going to master but surely i will work on everything , it's a good paying job if you earn skills demanded for the type of job you are looking for , so surely it's a good choice if you like it ! Give it a try and i hope you find yourself as i did myself ^^ Cheers !

wielding is a good career but most companies wont take people on if you cant wield anything as they dont want to teach you depending on your age that is

chrisevv98 structural welding like you see in the video doesn’t require traveling. You can either work in a shop or in the field. I did both because I was close to a LA city with never ending work

Welding job pay more the more experience you have

Welders are in very high demand. I can't see you having a hard time finding a job. There are many different avenues too. structural steel, elevators, pipe high/low pressure. Not all welding jobs are high paying, such as shop welders, but its a great way to get experience that a classroom won't teach you. Get certified and get out in the field to make more money. Journeyman's wage is around 60/hour right now. Then after a while, you can become a CWI (welding inspector) like me, to get paid more just to watch:)

I'm sure you know by now, but for those who like to read comments to further educate themselves. I used to work at Sears, shoe/boot department. I spoke to a lot of Ironworkers some people have the mentality of "men don't speak numbers", and some were really open and said a lot about the job without you asking, I truly respect both. Some of them have told me they make upwards of $75/hr as a foreman, union. Pipefitters in Bay Area, California make 55-65 an hour, as a journeyman
