If you have a spare Afternoon, you should come down to Enchenbach-Alsenborn. There's a TON of nice little hiking trails in the woods! One of them goes down to the lake Eiswoog. It's a bit long, but is a perfect way to spend an afternoon.

After a year in Idar-Oberstein, moved to K-town and was there the first time from June 1980 to November, 1982. I chose to return from 1986-89 - doesn't seem that long ago. I remember some parts but many places seem to have changed. Different time - and it seems the city if different (although just as nice).

I liked your video. I lived in Kaiserslautern from 1983 - 1991 when I was a kid and my dad was in the USAF. He was at different times stationed at Sembach, Kapaun, and Ramstein. I went to Vogelweh Elementary school, Kaiserslautern Jr. High School, and graduated from Kaiserslautern High School. We lived in Vogelweh in what it sounds like people now call “The Stairwells”. Vogelweh used to be completely open and no ID required to get inside. In that immediate area only Kapaun was gated. I first lived in 1143G and after 6 months moved to 1107G (fourth floor). 1107 is gone now and replaced with some town homes. We used to go to the AYA, bowling alley, skating rink, and theater in Vogelweh, and there used to be a big Exchange, food court, and commissary where the new high school is now. The Globus used to be Massa. Karstadt was another popular German store. Downtown, The Alte and the Flash were popular night spots. The Combined Club in Landstuhl, The Lazer, and Moanas in Miesau were also popular at different times.

Hope you’re enjoying Kaiserslautern while you’re there. Such a great place to be stationed because it’s so close to so many places. I lived there 1999-2001 and things changed dramatically after 9/11 (on base). The city put up giant fish sculptures throughout the city when I was there in celebration of their 200 year anniversary. Are they still located throughout the town?

I love the football club in Kaiserslautern... I visited the fritz-walter-stadium every matchday but now it's covid 19 and we can't visit it😢

I was searching through Google but only the FC team popped up and your video shows that the city has a calm and clean atmosphere! I might study in the city this fall. Are there many foreigners in the city? Thanks for the video!
