We run an operation like this but a little different we have the cord king m1820 we usually like to keep two people working at once, one guy splitting the other guy loading, knocking the pile down etc. we use a prentice knuckle boom loader to load the logs that we buy from a logging company. We deliver with a dump trailer we bought back in March. We actually just started the business this will be our first winter.

They definitely need to spend some time doing some general cleanup instead of letting it pile up like that and clog the conveyor. A few hrs here and there will keep production rolling vs the breakdowns and time spent daily cleaning up....plus with that much wood sitting there, the stuff on the bottom is just gonna rot.
You've got a drainage problem around your work area, which causes issues with the water clogging machinery when mixed with sawdust, bark and other scrap. Some landscaping, possibly along with some gravel would keep the logs and the firewood out of the mud. If it's a low lying area, move to higher ground.
You may be able to get left over concrete free from suppliers. I did this years ago. Things may have changed and the suppliers may be salvaging unused concrete. I had forms in place along with mesh. The trucks just showed up anytime they had xtra and dumped it.A yard here .5 yd there and once or twice a whole truck. One area was over a foot thick.All you can do is ask.Good luck
Where do you get your wood? I do my own processing for my home and love it. It is the one job I look forward to every year, cutting and spitting my firewood. I love running power saws and that feeling of accomplishment with a winters supply of firewood cut, spit and stacked. You guys are on another level entirely obviously but I still enjoy watching you. TheSagerider The wood comes from tree removals. We have 2 container trucks that are loaded with wood by a machine or a crane on the job. I agree it is one of the most satisfying tasks I do for the tree company. Sitting by a fire in the winter is always more relaxing when you did all the work.
Pace Metal Fab and Waterjet happens every now and again. All depends on how big the diameter of the wood you are splitting is. Splitting max diameter will clog the conveyer every once in a while
You Whiteman, have no idea what stage I’m at. I will say that I was able to retire before I turned 50, so I’m pretty sure I’ve passed the part about keeping my mouth shut. If you, as a boss believe you never have to do anything again except fire people, you’re a poor excuse for a boss. A true boss is also a leader and with an attitude like that, you’re not going to have anyone follow you. A company’s greatest assets, is it’s employees.
You’re making assumptions that are untrue, i’ve never held a government job and I’ve been on my own since I was 15. I was employed by the second largest food company in the world. They hired me because they believed the skills I possessed would be beneficial, and compensated me accordingly. In the 25 years I was there, I took 4 promotions in three different departments. Traveled to different facilities across the county and Canada, instructing them on new inventory, shipping & receiving scheduling and cycle counting software. No one held my hand but I had several wonderful bosses that made sure I had all the tools necessary to do my job effectively. If you as a boss, believe that all your employees are incompetent and beneath you and need constant hand-holding, you’re either not giving them credit, training them effectively or hiring the wrong caliber people. I take great pride in myself, both professionally and personally, I have skills that made it possible for me and my fantasy to live the lifestyle we will enjoy for many years.
Whiteman I thought I was smarter than the teachers and I quit school at 15 and I was on my own at the time after my mother passing my first job was on a pulling rig in the oilfield. I will never forget what my boss told me on the way to the well. He said I know u don't know anything about this job and I will teach u if u want me too. He said I will show u how to do it and then it's on u if u do it. He said one thing to remember is I'm the boss and if I'm doing something and your not then u better take it out of my hands and finish it. A concrete pad under the processed wood would help tremendously for loading trucks or trailers for delivery. Hand loading... yikes Good work though. Keep it up.
Hey we have a Eastonmade 48c processor and was over $130k but well worth the money. We demo ones with the chainsaw blade, and just can't keep up with our demands. I'll make a video of the process. This machine is a beast.
Out of curiosity, is a firewood processor a specific job description or is it wood he downs, collects, cuts and splits to size, and sells. I ask because the equipment seems very specific so it seems he is specifing on a certain part of the business. I have a small operation where i do everything myself, with the most basic equipment.
The piece of equipment is called a firewood processor. I believe the job title would be firewood engineer or firewood production supervisor. I will have to look into that for you.

Nice set up...... usually when I know I am going to be Processing alot , I grabbed the backhoe and dig a deep hole 3 or 4 feet just under the conveyor........all the debris falls in ......then when I move the processor .....fill it back in

@@heavenbound1536 I've always wanted a firewood processor back in the day many years ago, but never could afford one. If you watch how he cuts, cuts- drops in splitter- splits and he waits until the splitter returns all the way before he starts cutting again, that's why it's so slow.Then the video is sped up, fast motion.
I have the multitek 2020ss not very happy with it. Maybe the larger machines are better but the smaller one not so much. Is seems that companies don't put much into them and the processing is slow. BTW how do you load the firewood for deliveries?
Harbor Firewood this machine is great but definitely has limits. Over the year or so iv run it I found there are tricks to getting through knotty wood and such. We load all orders by hand
@@hightowerproductions9972 wow by hend? For us it's a very low profit loading it directly to the truck. If I have to loaded by hand I'll make nothing. In my area is very hard to get logs for a response price (under 160$ a cord). And with all the expenses does not seem to be worth getting into. Unless you only focus on the bundle Market that has some margin but didn't get any substantial accounts yet

@@redpoole9323 I am in Charlotte N.C and get 250 for seasoned cord and 150 on green all split hardwood no junk. I hear Boone is getting 300 to 350 seasoned cord. May take some up there this yr. Just going up 321 is rough on old truck. Trying to get me a 7.3 ford.
@@randytowery770 get u a Cummins. I am getting $315 for a Cord at 1 of my Buyers but i do drive 50 miles to drliver it. But your average is the same as mine. Around $250 and its not sesoned. I mix seasoned with fresh split or a month split wood. And i ket them know that. I have never advertised sesoned wood. Shit i cant keep it long enough to seadon it. Lol. Happy splitting buddy

Curious all the short wood pieces and logs that may not be perfectly starlight and free of nubs..Is all that wood done with conventional splitters? I have large concern that purchasing a cord king for processing wood from tree service wood really be limited as to how much of the tree service material would actually make it through the machine
mike hopkins great question. So really 95% of what doesn’t work on the machine just needs a couple couple where it bends and it works. The large logs we use a wood screw to quarter the logs up before they go on the machine. But to make a long answer short. Yes there is always a guy splitting with a small splitter for some of the material.
Hightower Productions can you do a video of the wood screw you use for quartering the oversize? I’ve been looking at getting an oversize splitter but wood screw idea sounds interesting
@@hightowerproductions9972 way more than a cord per hour. I am splitting a cord in 40 minutes with a Timber Wolf TW6. The Cord King puts out 4 to 5 cord per Hour.

Need a wood chipper for those heating their homes with woodchips. Portage and Main builds two very nice wood chip boilers one rated at 120,000 but' sand the other can heat an apartment building and provide domestic hot water. Www.Portageandmainboilers.com no feeding wood fully automatic just push a button to remove ashes every couple of weeks. Would give you another source of revenue for the sawdust and if you chip up the wood that won't go through the processor it turns a waste into a revenue stream. My neighbor heats with a portage and main 500'000 but boiler and provides heat to both his neighbors on either side of his house. Look for the envirochip boilers.
Truth fully if it was my bussiness all the equipment that was just started up with no inspection EVERY DAY !! The next week you can take off . Is any one on the job other than one person was the equipment looked over and checked . Pm is less costly than a equipment break down in the busiest peak season that's another week off not checking equipment daily
pleased to see someone mention checks - too much machinery killed by inadequate care and attention. Also pleased to see your reply, H/T, but, seeing someone actually do their checks reinforces them in the minds of your viewers. I have no experience with firewood operations, just with 6 Wheeler tippers carting soil, mud, clay, gravel, etc. Also, excavators (diggers) feature large in my employment. Keep your work-ethic going, too, you will then deserve all your "luck" in life.
Hope u checked all the oils and fluids frist before just jumping in abd starting first thing in am thats how u screw things up and coast lots of money but hell ya doing all that on ur own
