This week has been tough
Have a SUNVIC valve which needed wiring
Have a Worcester rsf cdi that needed a new diverter valve
And much more in the video

Nice one....The dreaded cdi diverter , I've only done 2 but will never do another one , both took nearly 4 hrs to change and never touch those ISO valves 💦 Seen a few of those sunvic valves but never had to change one so that info you gave is top notch...... 👍 Cheers

Always take the pcb off them cdi’s when doing wet work gives you so much more room! You’re a braver man than me touching those isolation valves though boiler off wall or whole hydraulic section out to change usually a fan of worcesters but these are shite!!

I’ve changed quite a few of those Worcester diverter valves in the past but never removed the pcb b4. Also I think the seal that Geoffrey said don’t change, is that the incoming cold mains. I have always changed but sometimes get a drip and have had to spin the fitting to get it to stop. Thankfully I don’t do them anymore, I would recommend a new boiler.

Nice one. I've done a couple of those Worcester diverters, not fun but they went fine in the end. Its the plastic filling loop assembly thats the worst bit, they're so fragile on these old boilers.

The only problem I’ve ever come across when change an old Worcester diverter valve are the isolation valves in the chassis, I’ve learnt over the years not to touch them and just turn the water off at the stoptap and drain the heating circuit. I’ve tried it both ways leaving the PCB attached and removed. I prefer to remove it as it makes the job slightly easier and zero chance of getting it wet. PS Always check the flow limiter in the plate heat exchanger.

Not a fan of those old Worcester CDI, changed return manifold which the prv is connected and the plate the other week. After putting everything back together and tested PCB failed 😩… took me ages trying to get the clip back on the plate too bas*@*d😂. Like the videos mate 👍

I always take out the PCB box on CDi's when changing the diverter valve, diaphragm or even just the plate. Takes 5 minutes. If you get water in the PCB its gonna be a bad day & an unhappy customer.

They cdi’s are absolutely vile. Worst boiler to work on, vessel is a bastrt, diverter is a bastrt and the isolation valves are outrageous - boiler off wall 😡 …can’t believe you isolated the flow 😂😅 always leak

Back in my day, 70s 80s mainly. Us gas engineers didn’t have pipe slices, fancy olive cutting tools or wet vacs. We’re we’re real men. Lifting ideal concords, potterton profiles etc. Square balanced flues, wiped lead joints and asbestos. Magnificent baxi BBC units and open vent systems were the norm.the smell of hemp and boss white. Spending 9 days installing a system, a day alone to flush and balance. Now rush it in and no thought about system reliability. The industry has taken a backwards step. 9/10 property’s now fitted with water heaters (combis) with a shelf life of 10 years. Designed to fail. And serviced so poorly by poorly trained individuals. How I miss my time in what was once a truly great trade. Ruined and never to return to its twilight. Yours, Martin

Jesus Martin, the only repair on them boilers was a thermocouple and a pump. The old boys would’ve struggle with today boilers😂
@dmheatingplumbing9805
@dmheatingplumbing9805 Год назад
Is that so. No fault codes in mar day young man. No flue gas analysers, just flame picture. What you regard as a service is nothing but a stick waving exercise and MOT Equivalent. We would fully strip, clean dismantle and repair. Modern day gas fitters are not fitters, but part fitters. No pipe slices, wet vacs, push fit so on. We don’t iron, lead, 28mm pipe being. Heavy cast boilers and cast rads. A real skilled trade then, now totally devalued by fast track courses and water heaters with a shelf life of 10 years. One of my last installations was a heating system with 2 inch iron branching to 1 and 3/4 inch. Hydraulic bending, hand threaded. Me and David spent 9 weeks and that was a 6 rad domestic system. We knew it would last and only have I changed a Trv since some 6 years ago. A job like that would brake half of you. An industry that was once so special. Destroyed !

I had Fan issue on Suprima, where it would move fine with no demand, but as soon as power was going to the fan it went stiff. I tried some of this lube, but wasnt really sure where I should put it, so I just put it anywhere that would spin, didnt fix the issue sadly.
