This is fab! I've just accepted a job as a HCA in my local hospital, after 11 year working with autistic adults. And a few years of being in/out of hospital with my little girl x

I really admire you,you are working as a HCA and meanwhile studying to become a doctor, I worked as a HCA in the Uk for 3 years in Care home settings. I’m back in my country now and I’m starting to hate this job ,I’m working in domiciliary care and I have never felt this sad and isolated in years,overworked and burned out,I better start thinking changing my path in life. Excuse my english,as you can see it isn’t my mother tongue.

Sounds like you need to leave that job if it is making you sad. Maybe go back to somewhere you’ve worked before to get your love for looking after patients back !

@@DannyCounty here is where the problem comes,I don’t have any other work experience apart of working as HCA so it makes me feel even worse,at my age(33) it isn’t as easy as it could be if I was younger. Sometimes I think that working in Hospital would be a better option than working in carehomes or homes,maybe this is is the problem ,working with the elderly affects me emotionally because there is too much negativity involved,I would maybe change my opinion if I had the chance to work with younger patients,what do you think?

Thank you Caramella ! In the NHS we work 7:30 - 20:00 (12.5 hours) on a normal day 😊 we do 3 a week and one week a month we do 3 and a half shifts !
