Sarahs Father needs to look in the mirror hes no toothpick and you can tell he doesn't miss a meal! Ladies keep your head held high dont let nobody tell you different you're beautiful, smart, and you have a bridge future ahead stand tall ladies keep fighting for whats right.
MsSamanatha A there is a diff between wanting ur child healthy then humiliating her in front of her head mistress about her weight. That was really upsetting she was so uncomfortable.
@@celeste.cutz2020 exactly not to mention im sure he knows they are filming seriously even if you have an opinion on your daughters body how can you shame her about it in front of her teachers and filming crew .
When sarahs dad put his daughter down for her appearance it broke my heart how can you say these things about some one you love and not feel convicted when you do and have no sense of her integrity and value. Our children are a gift . Our physical bodies are not something we keep forever but our spirit lives on even when physically we are no longer, it is our spirit that should be the cause for praise not our bodies but that's not to say we should not be greatfull for them.
I can't believe the teacher went along with the dad's request! They are lowering her self esteem and making her feel incompetent and unconfident in her own body!
It is so beautiful that you are showing the world how we syrians live together and love each other. Even with different religions we lived in peace and everyone was happy. We were like one family of muslims, christians, jews, Kurdish people and a lot more things who make us different but at least we were one family😔❤
I'm happy that quite a few people have made some great travel/culture videos on your country of Syria. I have a number of online Instagram friends from Syria now and its wonderful to see images and videos of daily life there. Wishing you the best, from Texas in the U.S.A :)
@@discojelly Thank you. I wish Syria to be the same like 10 years ago. I had so much beautiful memories there but now Syria turned for me in a depressing place where I had to see a lot which normal kids never saw. I never wanted to smell blood, to see dead people, to hear helicopters attacking us. Now I'm not a kid anymor, just a traumatized teenager who had to grow up very quickly. So I don't live in Syria anymore and I'm also afraid of going back because of the memories which are gone, because of the people who are gone and so on. But anyway thank you for saying this, it made me happy that you like my country
@J. Kanawati I know syria had problems in the 1980s but after bashar alassad it started to get better. He was planning much for syria and he could have made syria great, but other countries were afraid of this development in syria and so they financed weapons and made the war look like it started in syria with no other help from other countries. I know Syria wasn't perfect, but I also know that in the first six years of my life I had a very beautiful childhood and I missed nothing. We had everything we wanted and for me it was all perfect.
@J. Kanawati I don't know all of that.. At least I was 10 when I left Syria, but yes I know there was corruption and there were a lot of problems. But we should have wait a little bit, so we could see if it would fet better with the new president. At least he was trying. And yes there was still something like a secret police and people had to fear them, but what I'm saying is we don't know if this could have get better if we didn't just start a war. I mean what do we have from this war now? Millions of death people or refugees? Poverty ? A crahing economy of Syria? Traumatised children, teenagers and adults? Seperated families? A weak army that can't even stop ISIS? Other countries taking away the oil syria had? All of that could be avoided if we didn't just went out and hold weapons to the police. If we just protested peacefully and we were able to protest peacefully.
What a beautiful smile James the older brother has. I hope he and the whole family have been happy and successful. I hope they all have a good life now.
I just released this video was made long back 🥺 and it melts my heart that how beautiful where the people of Syria. Poor did they know what was going to happen next!!! All we can do is to pray Allah SWT to keep the beautiful people of Syria safe and grant everyone Jannah!❤️❤️ Ameen 🥺🥺😭💔💔💔
Ohhhh ok makes sense now...this was before war came to them. SubhaanAllaah! What a beautiful country Syria was and will be again one day...as promised!
I can’t imagine what Yusuf has been through in his short life. Seeing his reaction to the fireworks hurt my heart to think there’s a generation of children with PTSD from birth
@@Дэни-д6ю What are you talking about? I’m just saying that when he flinched, it was because a firecracker exploded just a few feet from him. Watch it again.
its ok to ask young girls not to wear makeup. They dont need to spoil their fresh skins, plus it is school. there is a difference between an adult teacher and a young student
@@lmnop9829 I suppose so. I've never seen a teacher eat in class. Most likely if a teacher does that then they are just as hypocritical as this teacher, I would agree.
I am so grateful that this video showed up on my RU-vid feed. So much of RU-vids content these days is total garbage geared towards one sided political views and such. Enough to make anyone with a real mind cringe. I really enjoyed watching and listening to this video as it allowed me a look into how other people live and act. Much of what we see on news media is designed to portray the world the way our masters want it portrayed. God bless these children in this video and I wish them all the very best in life.
This is a very upbeat documentary and I saw some recent comments here, from Syrian people, saying that these places haven't changed for the worse in the past years. That Damascus mostly remained unaffected by the war 👍
I hope that war hasn't changed this aspect of life in Syria. I like how they can discuss openly about wearing hijab, have disagreements, and still get along. Well, most of them, hopefully.
aimee marie Well that depends from which area the person is from. Good amount of people tend to look pretty white in some areas of Syria. As a Syrian myself I also have similar statements coming that I do resemble Southern Europeans. But generally speaking, it is still not the norm since most people here tend be medium-olive skinned with black hair and brown eyes.
sEEms like a really good girls' school --- pity we don't have better schooling ! The pupils have respect for their teachers and the teachers don't mistake giving in for caring .
How can he says that to his daughter, he humiliated her Infront of the teacher, he should wait until she comes home and talk to her as a loving father, and encourage her but not saying those words to her, big is beautiful 🌹
I dont know with the school curriculum, and its a whole day curriculum in my country.i think they should fix or implement good curriculum or subjects.math, science, chemistry physics, laboratory, arabic english, history, religion, humanities/values education,etc..im sorry the school is ok but its a little chaos.
This is such a brilliant Insight. Why didnt I know about Religion so deep before I met that syrian girl who smiled at me in hollyday. Before I felt in love instead I would have left her alone than suffering cuz no contact cuz no family member. Bismilah, next time I hope girl from more moderate country smiles at me, maybe indonesia so I dont have to read whole qu'ran bc sick of love. :'(

Same in the UK - some islamic women have gone backwards into covering that is not required by the Koran. They are the ones who suffer for it and they suffer pointlessly.
To be honest when the headmaster said that the hijabs were prison for girl and they should just take it of because we are in a new generation I fought that was unnecessary because if a girl wants to have it on and likes it don’t be insisting that is not right and if she doesn’t then she can take it of as she pleases😊
I’m all for choice, however I do see what she was saying. The concept of the hijab is to cover from other people , however, it promotes a extreme patriarchal ideology that the world is evolving from. Women shouldn’t cover up due to the “male” gaze, or bodily ownership, or anything like that. Cover up for you, not for men. It promotes the concept that a man owns a woman’s body.
@@annawilliams7568 its for women. Not for mens sake. Men must lower their gaze. Its for Gods sake that we do it. It should be the womans choice in the end and no one elses business.
@@maryamkidwai2543 why does your god say this? Excuse me for asking, I’m not really knowledgeable of muslim religion. My Aussie friends that a Muslim do not wear coverings.
@@annawilliams7568 yeah most women decide if they want to or not. And covering the hair is one part of modesty that both genders have diff rules for. The point is 1) to protect women to an extent from bad men. 2) to protect women from unrealistic beauty standards. 3) to prevent either gender from obsessing too much on looks and beauty and attractiveness. 4) so that a woman is judged based on her character knowledge and personality and not her body and appearance. 5)to identify her as Muslim 6) to protect marriage ao that unless its a really bad marriage ppl wont slip up and cheat based on pure lust. They could still cheat but not purely on the basis of lust and sexual attraction. Is hijab 100% succesful in acheveibg all this? No . Cuz society and ppl are complicated but its a good step. Ideally men would stop being perverted and women would be happy in their skins always but in real life it doesnt work that way. The Quran addresses men first to lower their gaze, and maintain modesty and wear loose clothing and no silk or gold and be always covered up to knees and if outiside as a labourer or something must at least be covered from navel to knee. Once when a very pretty woman who didnt cover had come over to the prophet and he caught his cousin staring he turned his cousins face away and didnt say anything to the woman. Sometiems even ppl who completely cover can be indecent in the way they behave and someone else who doesnt could be extremely modest and decent. In the end everything in Islam depends on your intentions and nothing else. As it is said in the Quran that it doesnt matter what garment you wear, the garment of piety is the best one. So hijab is extremely important to practise in what you wear and how you behave yoir work ethic etc:. But its not the top of piety or a certificate of nobility. If someone does everythign else and just doesnt civer their hair it shouldnt be too bad. In the end God knows each person and their circumstances the best and He is the best Judge. Honestly the world hasnt changed as much as we like to think it has, recebt studies in western modern countries have shown that in the brain studies of lots of perverted men when they saw a modestly dressed woman the part of their brain that identified humans activated but when they saw scantily dressed women the part of thei brain that identified objects was activated. Its disgusting but a reality we have to actively fight against. At the same time we women gotto protect ourselves from even mentally being reduced to our bodies and rather be seen for our minds. Thats the point of it. I get where yoire coming from but you must get where the religion is coming from. Culturally when people practise they can mess thigns up and make good thigns bad, and force ppl into things but thats humanity the good and the bad which we have to fight.. If you have any questions feel free to ask. Have a nice day=).
The profit Muhammad also said to not judge others so why he judging his daughter that way😪don't preach if u preaching in a wrongful way, don't use Muhammads name is a wrongful way either that's what nearly every Muslim parents does they always bring in Islam this Islam that and use it against us so that something can go their way it's a sin to use Islam knowledge in a way that is hurtful

Brilliant documentary and have seen a side of Syria I had no idea existed. I applaud their integration of the displaced Iraqi families and hope other countries can learn from their example.
I know, that was so surprising for me to see as all I hear about is Syrians being refugees in Europe these days- it’s really eye opening to see how they opened their arms to Iraqis before their troubles began. What a beautiful nation. Beautiful people.
@@PrincessPoohs Let me ask you a question: You say they’re “opening their arms to Iraqis,” but as this video clearly shows, they have to follow Syrian religious values and beliefs. When the U.S. requests the same thing, why are WE considered racist and intolerant?
@@elliotrather730 oh! What a surprise, here you are again! First off, I never knew "Syrian" was a religion...there's no such thing as "Syrian values and beliefs"...Iraq AND Syria both have large populations of Muslims and Christians & so both parties in this case would be affected...which country they're from isn't relevant, so that point is out the window. Second of all, last time I checked the US invaded Iraq...so you're really gonna sit here and say the US did the same? Do your research and stop being a sheep. Adios.
Yes Michael it is brilliant ...now go Mr Google Syrian school BBC FOUR , it's a five part made for tv from 2010 before the Barry of NetFlopz backed "rebels" came knocking for blood and return to the dark ages and now we have his VP C'mon man old Joe "bid" for a Noble prize to up the "war"....better late than never hey Michael ?
Guys i'm syrian And most of these shots are taken from places i pass through every day on my way to collage and are fineee Most big cities are fine and the forgien terrorists fought the army in rural villages
Ya Allah, you can’t even imagine the sadness at my realization of what was to become of Syria after this, my sadness of how beautiful and elegant it had once been. How these people talk of Iraqis as people who have been broken by war, with no knowledge of the war that was ahead of them.
I saw someones comment and they said that they have gone to this place and its not full of war. And that a lot of bigger cities are fine. I don't know a lot on the history of the war but yea.
I’m sorry my country invaded Iraq and detailed your chances at playing in front of important people. I love everyone no matter where you come from. I hope you get an even better opportunity and become successful. Insha allah.
This is a BBC FOUR TV five part made in 2010 pre the Barry of NetFlopz backed "rebels" coming for blood and return the dark age to make Big Mike proud and earn that Noble prize but old C'mon man Joe will now take up the quest ?
I wish America would stop getting into every countries business, unless they are saving innocent peoples lives!!! I can't even handle the fact that children are killed because of greedy war mongering men!!!!! Not just American men either. Men in other Countries hurt children (especially female children) on a regular basis. It's abhorrent and needs to stop. I pray to God to protect all the children of the world!!!!!
As if your apology will change a thing - Would it also stop the US tax payers money to be used in funding Israel while they’re currently bombing Syria and the Palestinians ? Hope to see a day where all of this reversed or stopped for once and for all We’re really tired of the western leaders dehumanising us.
I hope that too 🥺 Every thing changing The war has stopped, but the human destruction is much more difficult than the destruction of homes, schools, mosques and churches
hate it how she thinks it's women's fault if they get harassed in a dress. As if men had no responsibility over their own actions! Come on!! What if a guy looks good and gets harassed by a woman? Whose fault would that be?
@@anasmohsin389 exactly. If a man harasses a woman no one is to blame except him. However, men and women must both work to prevent harassment from happening. Two things can be true at once.
But what she says is not against the idea that the man should be blamed too. When a thief robs a house, of course, he did a crime and of course, he is going to jail, but don't you blame the house owner too if he left the doors and windows open? And that's why there are different punishments for a robber who breaks the door and the one who just comes across the open door. What I'm saying she is not saying it's all her fault that she is being harassed, but the fact she has a part of the fault can't be denied.
@@anasmohsin389 wow... it is only and ONLY the fault of the attacker. If your daughter was raped would you tell her it was her fault? People with right morals and proper manners would be kind to everything and everyone they see. At least my God teaches to have self control..
I truly feel bad for the Iraqi kid man. He fled away from Iraq because of War and because of the disgusting things that had happened after the death of Saddam Hussein, and then he goes to Syria, hoping for a better future, then the protests happen and Syria became a warzone. I'm just hoping this kid is in a better place rn and that he's living a way better life. Also, this documentary has truly shown how blessed I am to grow up in a country like Egypt, Alhamdilllilah.
The last episode of Syrian School followed the events that led Yusif and his family up to the moment they received Canadian visas and they eventually moved to Canada
To be honest looking at there school and comparing it mine, and how the comments are saying how filthy they are, I really want to see y’all’s reaction to my school, OH BOY YOU’RE IN FOR A TREAT
Gods, especially almighty gods, seem to NEED warriors, to kill the enemies of god... we do not need gods, we need justice and peace and no lies about creators, that lie is the cause of many wars, oppression and injustice
How sad. Girls thinking harassment is ok or their fault by their outfit rather than knowing they can wear anything, and that people are responsible for their bad behavior if they harass. Hopefully more educated women and men will teach these young women better.
Does anyone know if these schools even exist any more? Sad to think....out of all those boys and girls shown entering school and such....how many are alive now?
Of course they exist i live in damascus now And i'm a pharmaseutical Student . Life in most places is okay War only happened in some rural places The syrian army is working day and night to protect us from the armed terrorists

Hi You can visit Syria now . Damascus is still wonderful, but the war affected the rest of the country, and most of these students are not here ... many things have changed and we were not spiritual now. We do not have the minimum requirements for humanity life.
It is May of 2021. This is one of the saddest videos ever. The poor scared Iraquis left their bombed out country to go to Syria...now Syria is a bombed out country. How sad.
Contrary to popular belief, Arab women are quite assertive and empowered, most women whether single or married, working or homemakers are pretty strong willed and rule the men in their lives. The older generation is perhaps more subdued.
"I swear I will favor you if you play basketball". What kind of a teacher is that?! I'm appalled!!! Mostly felt sorry for everyone throughout this program, although I must say it was eye opening.
I like Mrs.Amal Hussun for her self confidence and being liberal. I think what matters is not how and what you wear but it's your beautiful heart and mind. Sarah Shbat and Mayas Barazi are so cute and look very intelligent.
This makes me sad Yusif fled Iraq because of war then not long after the country he fled to for safe haven descended into a war of its own. No doubt Yusif faced seeing or hearing about the same atrocities over again.
You can’t force your beliefs on other people lady!! If they want to wear it then ok if they don’t that’s fine as well!!! That’s the problem stop taking away ppls choice!?
fantasy-L SFexo9 I’m speaking on what that lady said specifically! Did you miss the part where she told them they shouldn’t wear it they should be free or was you busy reading the comments?!!
the headmistress was absolutely wrong!! dua was right. why should you be physically revealed to be free from the inside? hijab is about commitment and modesty, and you can still be stylish and beautiful, even if you wear hijab. Muslims are not close-minded and strict!!
Though it's not what the girl said. The girl was justifying intimidation and harassment of women generally. Instead of covering women in veils... Why can't men just stop the harassment. Everyone that thinks it's ok is a potential rapist.
But the girl said that hijab is worn to prevent harassment by men. Basically victim shaming when she said a girl with short skirt is more likely to be harassed.
i love syrian people they are the most reasonable arab that i have talked with and i work in retail in mid east they are polite and very friendly and UN-provocative. i have Syrian friends from suwayda and i always have fun hanging out with them they are Druze. syrian woman and men are not just beautiful by appearance but at heart i just dont understand why the fate for them is so harsh. just becoz of bad choices of the others. i am from philippines
wow did sarah's dad body-shamed her coz of her weight despite the fact that his father is above the scale too? wow this is outrageous how can someone shame their daughter's appearance in front of some people? sarah's achievement was literally overshadowed by her weight from her own father's eyes
Same and i’m not even Syrian! I’m kuwaiti and i have never been to Syria but grew up watching Syrian drama and being fond of old Damascus and the architecture and the dialect this makes me nostalgic and so sad 😔
Sarah's father really thought he did something there, didn't he? I mean look at you how can you be judging someone while looking... I don t even know what that is!
Yes, Syria is a secular country. Syria presented a wonderful example of religious and ethnic harmony ... and this did not like the enemies ... the enemies of peace
