I've had a lot of positive feedback on "A day in the life of a Game Developer and Student" & "A Day in the Life of a Indie Game Developer & Student - Monday", so here's my tuesday! I'm currently on Easter break, so I don't have lectures. But I've still got some assignments to work on. It was a pretty fun day though, and I'm happy with how the elemental swords turned out!
Oh and if you're wondering I'm studying Computer Science. Hope you enjoyed this video of a day in the life of an indie game developer! I had a lot of fun making it :)

Hey! If you're new here, welcome! I'm an indie game developer, currently working on a physics based game using Unity. This is my devlog / devblog where I show off the progress I make on it. I'll try uploading every week, but I'm pretty busy with university and part time job, so I won't have time every week. But I'll do my best!

I miss this old video style, no jokes meant for 9 year olds, just pure productivity and cool music which used to get me pretty motivated to actually be productive and not spend all day watching RU-vid and then regret I wasn't productive during the whole day. But hey, at least you got me motivated enough to actually start making games myself (around 2019, when you uploaded these videos originally) and now I have 2 years of programming experience and thinking about making my own devlogs (on a separate channel) so thanks dani! very cool!

That's a great idea but to find one for the lightning would be pretty hard I quick idea I have is the little flaily(idk how you call it) thing that comes out of the helmet will look like electrified hair you can google it's in the first results in pictures

if the enchantments eventually get too op than make a negative effect towards them if you use it for too long like say burning yourself if you use the flame sword for too long

The bad effects of using the sword I thought of were If you used the ice sword it will eventually melt or shatter Or if you use the lightning sword when u hit them they will be able to move fast until there dead because of the shock And the flame on the fire sword should eventually die out

When you pick up the elemental sword it changes the color of your character and gives your feet the elemental sparks and when you walk on the grass if your holding the fire sword it turns the grass burnt ect. Your videos are so entertaining keep it up it gives me something to look for on Sundays

Great Work! Just a suggestion: Instead on adding particle effect on the sword for each element, I would suggest tweaking the sprite slightly and adding an elemental aura around it.

Yeah the problem with that is that you're gonna be able to enchant any weapon. so I would have to tweak every single weapon in the game, and that's just gonna super time consuming.

The swords look great! But maybe you could make the ice enchantment effect slowly drop down (be effected by gravity) instead of going up.

I have a few ideas so sorry for the long comment, I’ll try to format it so it’s easier to read. I was thinking that these weapons could be drops from boss enemies that wield them, maybe when you get to their lair or area the environment changes to suit the element type eg. Ice particles for ice sword boss etc. Maybe there could be other enchantment types such as, Poison green particles that slowly deal damage over time, Wind air particles and blows enemies into the air when they are hit or causing a shockwave. I also thought that maybe there could be travelling wizards or alchemists like the merchant you have that could offer to enchant your weapons but in return for certain components or items such as the mushrooms you have. Thanks for reading the long post, you don’t have to include any of these if you don’t think they would work but I just wanted to vent my ideas.Great Video Dani!

@@Danidev np. Suggestion, can you add (if you want) armor into the game. It spawns random pieces of armor and you put it on, for lets say, 10% less damage

Okay wow. I'm really happy I stumbled across your channel. I've been super interested in programming for years, although I've made almost no progress. I've worked with VB, Java, and C#. I'm currently in college studying Computer Science, it's an online college and so every month I have a new class, I haven't started my first programming class yet but I'm hoping after the last few years of trying (I'm not very self motivated which is a serious flaw I have, that's why I've made almost no progress) I'll finally see the progress I want. I'm super passionate about programming but I just want to jump right into the cool stuff rather then learning the basics which is why I'm still where I'm at today, I have adhd and when I get bored I get SUPER distracted and well.. Spending hours and hours learning the basics makes it SUPER difficult for me to actually make any progress, I really wish I wasn't like that. However that's not the point of this comment. After watching a couple of these, you've honestly inspired me to try harder, because seeing you develop your game is probably the coolest thing ever, and it's everything I could dream of right now (being able to hop on and develop my own game). I know if I had the knowledge and experience to be able to do just do what I want I wouldn't get so distracted because I really invest my time into things I like. I just want to personally thank you, because I have a lot more self motivation after watching these. Maybe soon I'll hop back in Unity when I have more experience and see what happens :)

@@Danidev Out of curiosity, how did you learn to do art? I'm horrible at art but as someone who doesn't have very much money I've been trying to get into creating art as well. Is that a class you're taking at uni? Or is that just something you've 'always done

Hey Dani, love the vids, keep up the good work! Next year I'll be going to college to study Game Development so it's so much fun to see these day in the life of/Behind the scenes video's. I also have a question. I really like you're stickmanlike style, but are you also going to switch over to different styles later on? I was just wondering. Keep being great man!
