You said the fuel guage did't work, as a kid in the 50's & 60's our fuel guage was a clean piece of wood that was stuck down in the gas tank to see what the level was. Great videos. Keep up the good work.
Awesome video, I love the train going by in the backdrop, I don't know why, but I am always fascinated by the huge liquid manure spreader... I can almost smell it from here LOL. I don't know, there is always something magical about that farm fresh smells
The pickup that carries are transfer fuel tank. I ran a set of battery cables from the battery to the bed of the truck and then put the heavy duty rubber covers on them. It saves a little time not having to open up your hood and running the wires over your motor while its running.
Son, in an era of young adults who have no focus or few aspirations above a gaming controller, I applaud the fact that you work your ass off every day. It's people like you that hold this world's future in your hands. Keep up the good work!
I am amazed at how you can do everything at the farm. You know every detail of the farm operations. You understand and operate every machinery and you are very happy doing it. I even saw you performing artificial insemination. You look so young. When did you train for all this? Your parents must be very proud of you. They rest assured that their hard earned wealth and legacy is in safe hands. Keep it up young man. I follow you from Nairobi Kenya.

its nice to watch you driving the case tractor, brings back so many memories. i live in the uk and in my local town we had a big international harvesters which changed to case. a couple of my brothers worked there for many years, one of them only left when they finaly closed the factory down. just watching all aspects of farming makes me happy and sad as i wonder what my dad would think of all the new equipment you have today as back when he was farming as a young man he was using horses and he was the horseman. i had a brother who passed away a couple of years ago and he farmed all his life and he did live through the changes of machinery etc and i must say he loved it when he got his new tractors with all the many gadgets bless him. keep up the good work stay safe xxx
Not a farmer, but love seeing your videos. Look forward to seeing your new ones, so keep up the great work. I'm sure we all appreciate you taking time to edit them after a long day at work. Keep them coming. Best wishes from the UK. Mark.
My father in law bought a converted ancient barn (listed in the dooms day book ) in the middle of a cow field. He must have been crazy, my first visit out from Australia the smell was shocking, right through our clothes and our eyes were burning! They were spraying the manure on the fields just like this, could barely breathe!
I just found your channel and I just love what u do and love your channel i have watched all the videos keep up great work I've never seen a farm so clean and perfect
Jan I love the shop rag that you keep on your left leg. lol. I was glad you let us see the actual spraying of the manure. Was kind of sad on the last video when you did not. Thanks. You are amazing to watch.
Another great video guys! It's been crazy watching your channel grow from 3700 when I first subscribed. You deserve it man! I appreciate all the extra time you dedicate to get us the sweet camera angles.
Hey Jan as always your vlogs are really good I love the footage of the train good timing and you can't start the morning off without a good cup of coffee and how much manure does the Lagoon hold Maybe in another vlog you can tell us how many pieces of farm equipment you have and all the jobs that they do so whats next for DK keep up the good work and see you in the next video 🤔⛽🚜🚂😉
Best video yet ! if I did not know better I would think you had a crew of 50 filming you ! Great job editing and putting the video together can’t wait for the next one
Hi Jan! Thanks for recording, editing and posting for us to enjoy! The scene with the train and you driving by with the tractor was amazing! Great timing to get the lead engine and then the surprise of you driving into view was amazing! How can it be so dusty, didn't the snow just melt? LOL Take care, be safe and stay healthy Jan!
Been watching a few of your videos now and would like to say for a young lad you sure have a great work ethic and core values your parents must be proud hard working young man . Keep up the good work young lad!!!!
Looks like there were some containers from H & R transport from Lethbridge Alberta on that train blast from the past l worked for them for two years. Drove many times from Calgary to Montreal on the trans Can must have been near your property. Great job all over Canada and USA. But putting chains on at 2 AM IN the Rockies is no fun at - 30 back home in U.K. now to old for all that 🤣 how do you do it every winter but there again if you were born there it's the norm. Keep up the good work very interesting videos. 🇬🇧🇨🇦🇬🇧
I've always been taught. When running hot the worst thing to do is shut any engine down. Leave it at an idol during the blown down process. When you shit it down the heat builds pressure and in turn can generate additional heat under pressure of the motor or trans. What are your thoughts on this?
Well as I see it apart from the ah .... aroma .... you are a young man on large acreage with heaps of great big toys to play with and you do a great job with all !!! :-) :-) :-)
Sure aint nothing like a few days hauling slurry there Jan!!!! Looks to me like the old 285 needs a trade up to @400 HP if ya ask me! Stay safe and the train clip toward the end was just epic!!!!
Something I've wondered...is there a set recommendation on how much counter weight to run on the front of the tractors? Like do you have to add more weight for certain implements? I understand their function just wondered if it was guessed or calculated? As always thanks for the beautiful vlog & looking forward to you hitting 100k ✌️
Do you in Canada have manure management plans? As we here in Iowa and many other states in the USA have to take a manure management course and get a license with a class yearly on new laws and continuing education as the license is only good for 2yrs I believe. So after you get your license you can haul manure "dry and liquid " and the manure management course is usually given in the 1st 3 to 4 months of the year. So you can haul manure in a truck, spreader and tank. Hauling dry you want to spread thin and evenly so you can cover all your acres yearly. And when you haul liquid manure it must be injected into the ground and you must be so many yards away from water or ways of water that it could get into the water supply or system like shallow wells, waterways, rivers, ponds and lakes. When spreading liquid manure on top of the ground is usually done during the winter months but if you don't inject into the ground and spread on top it must be covered up in so many hours meaning lightly disced under. Same thing goes for dry as it controls the smell of the manure
I have a 270 it seems to burn the shell oil especially when you pull it hard. I use chevron seems to do good with that. And I've also had to change the fuel gauge In the tank
Hey Jan - another awesome video!! Question - do you know Eric from 10th Generation Dairy Farmer?? I watched one video in which you were actually watching one of his videos to pass some brief time. I watch both your channels all the time - love the content!! Keep up the great work!!
Dude, your cinematography and camera work get better by the video. Keep up the great work. Maybe you and the 10th Generation Dairyman could do a joint video together.
Thanks for another great video. A question for you, that you may have covered in another video - if so, I apologize. I noticed there are 4 wheels on each side of the the spreader. Did I see them turn slightly as you made a turn with the tractor. Am guessing that would be to help reduce wear and tear on the tires. Please let me know if I was seeing correctly. Thanks. Blessings to you, your family, and the crew that works on your farm from Davenport, Iowa.
great films !! Farming has changed a lot since I was a young boy living surrounded by small milking farms, lucky to have 30 cows to milk by hand. But why did your parents or grandparents leave Friesland with lots of ice and snow, and go to Canada with even more ice and snow ?? I was in the Air Force in Leeuwarden in the winter of 1956 and decided it was too cold and left for Australia. Good luck and keep filming. Bert Busscher Melbourne australia
Should let a hot diesel idle for a little bit before you shut them down. Let’s the oil run threw the turbo and cool down before it’s shut off if not you can create build up in the bearing in the turbo
I though you Canadian's, make the tea with a kettle and used a tea strainer; drunk your tea with cream and sugar or lemon or tea only; for that looked like coffee to me lol.
@@saskdutchkid Yon Ice tea here in the South but have had tea with cream it goes back to Britain for we were are all alike at one time in our history but like you said always coffee in the morning lol.
between watching you and 10th generation dairy farmer, the manure pumping and spreading on fields is my favorite activity. I know its real nasty and dirty but its something that has to be done.
Hey Jan I have a question. Why don't you use your seeding tractor to pull that giant manure wagon? The case seems a little small for such a huge weight. It would be a better use of the seeding tractor in the off season when not seeding. Love your videos.
Is there a term that Canadian farmers use to describe that fan of wet manure coming out the back of the manure hauler? On a suction dredge in the Mississippi River, that great arch of sand, mud, spoil and water is called "the rainbow". I couldn't help but make the comparison, but I doubt they smell the same! Are all of the fields you're spreading manure on your family property or do you sometimes spread it on other farmer's fields?
Great video. Do you have some kind of tracking system for distribution of manure similar to those systems farmers use to plant crops. How do you know where to drop manure: memory, smell, sight? Thanks.
Just started watching your channel. Enjoying the insight to dairy life. A question I have is how new are your two largest barns (they don't show up on Google Maps)? Also curious what's the structures/pipes in the yard a mile south?
I don't mind the smell at all... 😌 As a former (Dublin) city boy, my family think I'm weird & wont visit me here on the west coast of Ireland when slurry-spreading is being done.. 😂 I think I shudda been born in the country, here 15 years now & I'd NEVER go back to city-living 🥰 😎👍☘️🍺
