Haven't lived there in 45 years, but My home town. As a kid it was a great little town, kids everywhere and Saturday Night BBQs at t😊he local RSL or Golf Club. Has died off alot over the years, once having over 2000 residents to under 900 today. Been hit rather hard in recent years with floods, closure of the RSL, a fire that destroyed 3 shops including the towns supermarket.

Did u get the 12v starelink , great vid guys very interesting hope u catch a cod
@JS_Adventure
@JS_Adventure Год назад
Wouldn’t mind a big Murray cod! No just the standard residential starlink and then upgraded through the app to roam/Rv. Maybe in the future we will modify it to be used in motion from 12v but we have no need as of yet. There is a handy starlink Australian Facebook page with a lot of info and easy ways to modify it to 12v

Hi guys What was the name of the property you were working on? Maybe was the one where we lived in the 60’s when wool was king, now cotton is, apparently.

Awesome job on the tractors. Did you have any experience before you started? Did you get a licence before looking for work?
@JS_Adventure
@JS_Adventure Год назад
Cheers! No experience at all and only need a driver’s license for the tractors so worked out really well!

Did you guys go the starlink regional option and was there anything special you had to Do to Switch to the the rv options ?
@JS_Adventure
@JS_Adventure Год назад
Yep! We picked up the regional/residential for $199 and all we had to do was upgrade to the “roam package” through the app when it arrived. They are the same unit and allow you to upgrade to the rv option
@wellfuladventures
@wellfuladventures Год назад
@@JS_Adventure did it cost extra or same price to switch it over and do you still have the pause option ?
@JS_Adventure
@JS_Adventure Год назад
The residential doesn’t have the pause option and is $139 a month and fixed to an address (gps somehow) after switching to the roam/rv the monthly fee is $179 and then gives you the option to pause and to move around and setup at campsites.

I have never been impressed with cotton farms. They use a lot of chemicals and water to the detriment of water flows down stream.
@Mrbullet1952
@Mrbullet1952 Год назад
I've never really understood it myself. Like you say, it is water intensive and, considering they are always complaining about the lack of fresh water then why are we growing cotton in Australia.
@davesimmonds1133

@@Mrbullet1952 I guess everyone wears cloths and love their fashions, and cotton is a profitable crop, there’s the combination.
@Mrbullet1952
@Mrbullet1952 Год назад
@@justdoesntaddup8620 I totally agree with what you are saying but, certain sections of our society will have to stop complaining about the lack of fresh water due to the water consumption of growing cotton. Water or lack of water because of cotton. Catch 22 ?
@justdoesntaddup8620
@justdoesntaddup8620 Год назад
@@Mrbullet1952 Well it’s an interesting conversation, increasingly those that make a living from the land need to be aware of their own survival, how to make money, the weather is both friend and foe, it’s a difficult business. I lived and schooled in shown area in the 50’s & 60’s, wool was the thing then. My dad was a station hand , drover, horse breaker. I remember him saying of the scrub clearing when wheat came through, wheat was the new thing, he said , “this is bad, we take too much out with ring barking etc., for grazing, now they are pulling up all the scrub, burning it, to clear for crops, it’s too much”. So now it’s all clear felled laser levelled for cotton. But living in the bush and constantly criticised by metro people he pointed out one day, “look at the city’s, they clear the whole lot, lay down bitumen, cement, bridges, they dam the rivers, take ALL the water, the valleys, the riverbanks, the bay, the headland, all of it, then build sports fields, hospitals, shopping centres, schools, thousands of acres of houses, industrial suburbs and city high rises, and airports and wharves, eliminate ALL native species, introduce cats and dogs for pets”, (said that around 1965), then they turn to us on the land and say “hey , , this is what you are doing that’s wrong”. Another interesting thing is that the water there in the Barwon meanders it’s way 1,600 kilometres to the South, joining with several other rivers and creeks, to South Australia, where it’s pumped out and on to the river banks by the millions of litres to irrigate and grow grapes for wine, trees for almonds, lucerne for dairy cattle, and other fruit and vegetable orchards. So it’s hard to single out one crop and say , “there’s the problem” when we all eat, drink and wear clothes.
