BEFORE COMMENTING, PLEASE READ: Before filming this, Rick was gracious enough to let us view the new "Burt Reynolds: The Last Interview" documentary. Burt and Rick knew each other and Rick is the one that interviews Burt in the new film to be released soon. It was very clear in the documentary (as you will see when it is released) that Rick knew that Burt played football at Florida State and not Florida. He simply just misspoke without realizing it and neither of us caught it either. We apologize for any confusion. As imperfect humans, we all say something different than what we meant from time to time and often don't even realize what we said unless someone tells us. 😂 Thank you to everyone that realized this and enjoyed the interview. 🧡😊🤓

Wow~ I am speechless! This is my favorite by far! We have lost so many wonderful stories from the older generation. This reminds me of my great-grandmother, talking about her life. She wasn't quite as accomplished as this gentleman, but definitely lots of life lessons to take away. Thank you for recording this. What an amazing life he has had!

Brilliant ! Thank you for introducing us to Rick, Maggie & of course, Penny. I so enjoyed all the history & now will put Jupiter on our travel list ( last visit in the middle to late 70s) And you know I have Burt (aka Buddy) stories. I'm from Georgia and met him once. But once was enough for my memory bank. I got a hug, told him how amazing he smelled ( he said it was soap) and he said I was "cute as a button" & gave me a wink. And Brian, Rick is correct, we follow y'all because of your humble & sincere selves. And your editing just gets better every week. Thank you for this mornings education. Life is about full circle , the folks that cross your path & getting you thru the moments "of living in your car". ( 3 months in a '73 VW beetle ) Can't wait to see this !

Brian, awesome video! First of all Burt Reynolds is a hero of mine! I also happen to be a Floridian. We’ve eaten at many of those restaurants. In fact, my wife and I use to sit in our car and eat dinner at Burt Reynolds Park, while our youngest daughter took SAT prep classes near by! Thanks Brian and Michelle, what a good show today. I'm also a fan of of Burt Reynolds, yes, and of course the Smokey & The Bandit movies. During that time (1980) we lived in Tampa and I worked for a good friend of Burt's (Ernie Haire) They both were raising and into purbred horses. One Sat. I was working and Ernie that also had an executive helicopter flew Burt Reynolds into the business because the business was where one of the Bandit cars was being kept during filming of the movie. Long story short, that day! Brenda & I got to greet Burt as the two came off the helicopter. Needless to say, that was a highlight in our life never to forget. 😊 Thanks so much for sharing. What a character and what a life. I've had several mojitos at the Jetty in Jupiter and there are some super yachts "parked" out back when you sit on the terrace. I don't know if I misheard it or not but Burt went Florida State on a football scholarship, not UF. Great piece Brian.

Yeah, Rick didn’t realize until he watched the video that he accidentally said the wrong school. He knew it was Florida State, just misspoke. He said he also always calls the restaurant The Jetty even though he know’s it is called Jetty’s. I do the same thing all the time with other places. 😂

Wow, that was great! I loved hearing his story of how he got started. It's great how in his life he meets up with different people that he admired in his youth. I loved the Burt Reynolds Smokey and the Bandit movies. I also agree that you have a great talent in filmmaking. We live close to Jupiter so it was fun to see all the familiar places. One missed spot, next to Lucky Shuck and opposite Guanabanas, is the Square Grouper. They often have live music, it’s directly opposite the lighthouse, and it’s where part of Alan Jackson and Jimmy Buffett’s video for “It’s 5 o’clock” somewhere was filmed. Love the Beagle too, she should meet our little pack of 4!

I got to meet and talk with Burt when he came to my hometown with my neighbor, his college roommate, Robert Urich. I was, I think, in middle school at the time. They were both well-known actors at that time, and both much older. We grew up with the Urich family, so Bob wasn't a big deal to me, but Burt was at that time.

Yes Brian you definitely are a great film maker. I love your editing. This gives me so much excitement for my son. we live in Michigan. He was diagnosed with mild austism when he was little and you can’t tell now. I have been homeschooling him since 2nd grade. He is 16 now and since he was 4 or 5 years old he loved making video games, short films and music. He has a RU-vid channel that he put it all on and I’m so glad I let him do that. Wow! What an honor! To have a producer that has led such an exciting career with so many different movie stars to escort you both around Florida. I was so intrigued with his career path stories and the interesting info he shared for new film people coming into the business. Our son is graduating in May from Cedarville University in Ohio with a B.A. in Broadcasting, Digital Media and Journalism and the debt that goes with it! He needs an internship for this spring or summer and has not found one. I would love to see him find one in Florida. We own an acre of ground in Northern Florida and will be developing it for our RV this fall and would help him get established. I just shared this video with him in hopes that it will inspire him.
