Actually, the original trilogy, Deadlocked and Tools of Destruction all ran at 60fps, so that's nothing new lol. Still, great video, Crack in Time is a wonderful game, even if it's not my absolute favourite
Damn! That was the only thing I wasn’t sure about. Was so much in a hurry, I didn’t bother checking. I just knew it was the last one to do it. Oh well. Doesn’t change anything, still love that about it. Thanks for the correction and kind words!
Crack in Time is a good game, certainly in my top 3 favorite Ratchet and Clank games, but honestly I did not like how spacefaring in A Crack in Time was on a 2D plane. I learned early on just how trivial combat it by holding down the fire button while continuously spinning. While unpopular, I prefer how it's done in Going Commando. The humor is much better in the first two games but the darker tone and story is a nice change as well.
I am with you. My whole childhood Is based on the ratchet and clank future saga. When I play in front of a friend and do glitches he always asks me how do I find them. And I say to him- " when I have the games for almost 8 years and max out all of them you get bored and start to find glitches. "
Jonathan Hult i want a real. actually good. Game. I just miss the old Ratchet And Clank games, but. I’ve done everything in ACIT, and it’s my favourite game, and i basically know everything in the others.
Yeah, I really like how re-playable it is, like every time I play it again it feels like I'm a little kid on Christmas, I kinda sound like an old dude, but still it is 100% my favorite RC game to date
Ten years!?!? These games still feel so new to me. Great job with the video. Informative, and you honestly have a wonderful voice for this style of video. Would definitely watch more like this one.
That means so much to hear. Thank you. And thanks for the compliment, I was so self conscious about my voice, I thought it was terrible hahah. Could defiantly do better if I had more time. Planning on another one like this soon too... as well as others like the ones before this! Thanks for the footage guys! Y’all rock!
I’m currently 14. My dad got me a ps3 when I was around 6,7 or about 8. I played the gran turismo that came with it for about 6 months. After I wanted to go get another real game, I bought a random Ben ten game because anyone guy under ten who didn’t like Ben ten is very unique. After that my dad went to China for a week and when he came back he got me ratchet and clank tools of destruction. He said he asked a guy in the game store what game to get and he recommended that to him. I loved that game so much. The treasure map is a feature I love in every game and I was so excited when I realised what it was. Then I think I skipped quest for booty (that puzzle with the drunken robot pirate stumped 8 year old me with no internet) . After I completed crack in time. I don’t know why, but for the first time I felt real emotion for something. There was so much build up in tools of destruction. Every zoni encounter made me so concerned as I didn’t know what would happened. When ratchet finally got back to clank, I felt like I did too. Even though I had been with him all game. It’s a shame no one I know personally has ever played these so I can’t talk to anyone about it. And my old ps3 is busted now so I can revisit my favourite franchise. I hope they. Just remaster the future trilogy. Either way, beautiful video.
I played Quest for Booty by a neighbour and wanted a PS3 just to play these amazing games specially ratchet and clank I got a PSP so I played Size Matters.
B__W_45 yeah I have got to hand it to Xbox their backwards compatibility is ridiculous. I mean the fact that the series x can play games from the original xbox is astounding.
One of the best Sony franchises and my favourite of all time man. 1) Going Commando 2) Up Your Arsenal 3) A Crack In Time 4) Tools Of Destruction 5) Ratchet & Clank
I remember messing around in the Insomniac Museum for hours as a kid. It was cool to see all the concepts that didn't make it into the game, like the hoverboot race.
A Crack In Time was great. I was a little wary at first, splitting up Ratchet and Clank like that. Ratchet needing new stuff to take his place in order to restore some of his moveset and I do miss the banter. But Clank's part was a lot of fun. By far the best Clank segments in the franchise since it was a bigger and more fleshed out part.
Follow me on Twitch for more Ratchet and Clank! Join us! Twitch.tv/NickAstalos Spent 18 hours today working on this to get it up on time. As you can see, It’s the 28th now. I barely missed it. But it’s ok. I’m proud as hell of this. This was a massive project. 303 assets used here. My biggest project ever. I’ve never done a scripted “video essay” type video before so please feel free to give feedback. Please subscribe! Got lots more of Ratchet content coming as well as non-Ratchet content. Next is the Halloween video >:) But please sub, I wouldn’t want you to miss anything! And follow on Twitter @ Nick_Astalos
this is my fovrot game ever made i love this game so mutch thank you for makeing the grate video im digged out my ps3 later to replay the first 3 games then the second 3 games (the main line ones not the spin offs) so ill be play RC 1 RC 2 RC 3 tools of destruction booty and a crack in time i might play nexus 2
Been playing this since series since I was 4, now I have graduated university and I still go back and play the games. This series was a huge part of my childhood, by far my favorite of all time.
I gotta agree, A Crack In Time really was/is something special. Though it does not hold quite as much nostalgia for me as the original games on the PS2, I do have it up there as my all-time favourite R&C game.
Size Matters was my first R&C game, and with over 60 play throughs of SM I can say that going from that PSP title to(after watching Malnofski play throughs of every title before ToD) ACiT I can say this game changed me. This is where I became more than just a boy wanting to go on journeys in video games. The puzzles, the story, the adventure. I became a man. I need to play this one again. And again, and again...
Damn, i seriously need to go back to this game. It was the first Ratchet game I'd played, as I got it when I heard about the reboot, which I thought looked cool at the time - so take that as you will, and I fell in love. It took me a while to beat, as I wasn't the most experienced when it came to platformers and just games in general. I had a habit of getting stuck at certain points - for some reason I seemed to struggle with the Clank sections in particular for some reason - dropping the game, and then coming back a few weeks later. I didn't quite get the story - due to not having played the previous games - but loved it all non the less. I couldn't quite grasp the fact that the game was 10 years old - or 6/7 years at the time - as it looked so good, and controlled so smoothly. (I went back to beat ToD and QfB and am still making my way through the original trilogy, and still love the series dearly)
In retrospective, this game really blended the OG formula with a modern "cinematic" experience. Also, it had a lot of cool features. I still prefer the OG games, but this was probably their greatest achievement.
It's hilarious, how you listed the play recommendation of the series is how I did it from 2014 - 2015 😂. Played the original trilogy (ps3 remasters), wasn't interested in arena mode for a full game so passed on Deadlocked (but saw story on youtube and it's hilarious and dark 👌🏾), skipped the spinoffs, played Future saga (while skipping All 4 One and Full Frontal Assault, but did see youtube cutscenes), played 2016, currently foaming at the mouth for Rift Apart 🥵. But most importantly: A Crack in Time is my favorite for ALL the reasons you listed 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾. In fact, when I started my 2014 - 2015 playthrough, that was the one I was looking most forward to based on whispers I'd heard in the community. So glad I wasn't disappointed 🙌🏾. The jazz radio while chillin in space is just 😙👌🏾. I can confirm, it truly was the perfect culmination of all the main games just like you were describing. Up Your Arsenal comes close to being my favorite (especially with the over-the-top humor that I wish would come back to be side-by-side with the great story 🤞🏾), but A Crack in Time's expansive worlds, expansive gameplay mechanics (HOVER BOOTS AND CLANK), top tier puzzles (MOONS AND CLANK), best space traversal, and compelling story really just put it in a league of its own compared to all the other games 🤣. Hope Rift Apart can channel most if not all of its energy 👍🏾
I remember first getting it with Tools of Destruction and Into the Nexus, i was automatically hooked into this game, it was vibrant and felt fun with the physics and gameplay
I’m really glad this video exists. I’m pretty much the only ratchet and clank fan I know and crack in time is my favorite game ever. So cool to see you and everyone else talking about how underrated it is!
I personally prefer the original from 2002, but this one is a close second for me. Great to see people talking about this series! Really hope a new one comes out soon.
I feel that. And check the description for a video about a new game if you haven’t ;) i’m glad there’s people out there willing to listen! this is all i wanna talk about!
I'm only 12 and my dad bought the game for my sisters when u was I think 5. I played it with my sisters a lot but then they stopped playing it, but I kept playing it because it was my favorite game. If I'm being completely honest, I haven't played the game since I was nine because I started playing different games in the Ratchet and Clank series then, and I also started playing Jak and Daxter at that time, and when I was 10 my parents bought me a ps4 with the 2016 Ratchet and clank game because they knew how much I like Ratchet and Clank, and I begged them for a ps4. Not gonna lie, 2 years ago when I was 10, and I played the 2016 game, I thought it was fine but I also thought that A Crack in Time was way better. And I started playing it again recently and, IT'S STILL JUST AS GREAT AS I REMEMBER IT! And the way you talk about it in this video makes my nostalgia feel even greater. Still my favorite videogame ever. 12/10
What I think is an underappreciated element for the whole series is the puzzles. Every game had its own tool where you would play a puzzle in order to unlock a door and it was always so creative. Of course, the time puzzles in a crack in time were the best.
I can’t even imagine how many times I had played the Future Saga during my PS3 days. Those were 4 masterpieces. Tools of Destruction and A Crack in Time above all ❣️
Does anyone else think Dr. Nefarious was done so well in this one? I don’t really care for the whole Lance and Janice playbacks, but other than that I just remember thinking how he looked so cool, and really personified evil. I still think he looks badass btw, but back then it was very immersing (Also, who else is pumped for Rift Apart?)
Thank you for taking the time to check it out and for subscribing! Hate to keep self promoting on reddit but like 50% of my audience comes from there lol. Hoping a lot more people subscribe so i don’t have to keep doing that. So thanks again! Lots more coming!
I just wanted to tell you what a great job you did with the video. When I saw you on reddit I thought nothing of it but two days later I realize that this is probably the best someone ever described my all time favorite game. Great job!
That means a lot to hear that you! Subscribe if you’d like, for plenty more planned. Most of these views are from unsubscribed redditors lol. Thanks for taking the time!
It's weird to think how little time there was between the first game and this one, I remember it feeling like forever before this came out, but it was only like 2 years after tools, with quest being in between, but it felt like forever, nowadays that amount of time barely registers to me.
In the PS2 Ratchet & Clank games (and probably Tools of Destruction I honestly can't remember), it was only the first cutscene where Ratchet had the "default" armour no matter what, and that's because after the introduction the cutscenes shifted to not being pre-rendered, saving the pre-rendered ones for when Ratchet wasn't in them, to maintain armour consistency (and any joke skins you've got on). Crack in Time, the armour got changed to a hologram kinda deal, giving the framing device of turning off the armour when it's not needed, which both allows for Ratchet to be in pre-rendered cutscenes without breaking the consistency but also gave a narrative justification for... the ending.
I agree with everything about this video. This was actually my first R&C game I played after watching my mum play it. Needless to say I got hardcore into the series. CiT is hard wired into my mind as the best of the series. I even like ITN. Just a shame it was so short. I loved the gravity boot and the grav-tether sections they introduced then left it for dead.
Ive played aCiT so many times, as it was the first RaC game ive played as a youngin', and it's honestly just as great now. I wish I could play the first games, though. I hear theyre amazing, even compared to the future series.
I just replayed this game! I hadn’t thought about it for a few years and I got a huge nostalgia rush just from hearing the main menu music, used to play the PS3 games all the time when I was small.
15:25 - Into the Nexus - "Only downside about it is it's short, only about 5-6 hours" Xem - Ratchet 1,2,3 combined - 4 hours, all gold bolts collected - "Hold my beer"
Ratchet and clank future a crack In time deserves 100000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000/10 Cuz this game is PERFECT!!
Glad I'm not the only one who recognised this. I think it was my first Ratchet & Clank game and I've been afraid to buy another since, in case it doesn't come close. I hope reviewers for Rift Apart touch upon this
Playing Ratchet and Clank is so nostalgic and i completely agree with you a crack in time probably my favorite and my 2nd is deadlocked but listening music from a crack in time is beautiful especially the pirate radio woah its been long and im only 11 and i still cherish this series i will never give up on Ratchet and Clank :)
Mr here is just going on a nostalgia trip and so am I sooo.... valid (and agree) ...finally here after mr plugs it when people ask about his favourite games on stream everytime, fun video nick :D
Great review, i recently dug out my ps3 a while ago to play the original trilogy, played tools of destruction for the 2nd time had more fun then I remembered, but never played crack in time. Pretty convinced now thanks!
I own 3/4 games of the future series, missing into the nexus which i haven't found a physical copy yet, and the future series started with this game, being the only game i have for the ps3 that i actually took the time to reach platinum not only once, but twice across multiple playthroughs. Bit late, but great video!
I believe every game leading up to ACiT runs at 60 fps, but it was removed later on, favoring 'fidelity'. At least we'll have the option to turn it back on in Rift Apart.
Great video :) I've always thought that Insomniac it's a better developer on the gameplay and experience detail aspects than a complex story-driven full game, the R&C complete ps2 titles are a good example of that, and also I always see people that played Crack in Time on the ps3 days and have it, but no ToD, and I think that's because ACiT had a more polished gameplay and feel than Tools. Also, I think what makes Insomniac one of the best developers of gaming history it's that, the experience of the gameplay on their games, Spyro, R&C and even Spiderman they don't have the most complex stories, but the feel and formula of those games it's so well crafted. Anyway, R&C ps2 trilogy and A Crack in Time are my favorite games.
@@NickAstalos yea i never new why they where never as popular as other developers after the ps2 as in my opinion they did everything right except from markecting i never saw any ads for R&C not one untill the ps4 game
Damn, Crack In Time sucked me in right away! I was so blown away by the graphics, feel of gameplay and the story elements even 2019 - first time I ever played Crack, and my favorite R&C game n.n
As much as i loved the whole series start to finish completing them all in order and starting them since they came out was amazing. But to me i find deadlock, going commando and original were best and then crack in time. Every game even the psp were amazing experience equivalent to great ones like oblivion
A crack in time has got to be the best out of the future saga and it's also my brother's favorite ratchet and clank game (probably he's favorite game of all time) but I'm more of an original trilogy guy. My favorite ratchet and clank game and favorite game of all time is hands down, Ratchet: Deadlocked.
The ps3 future trilogy were the only ones I played, which is why even though I’ve never been able to play the originals and am no longer able to play the games any more I have remember it so fondly.
One thing That I found surprising no one don't real talks about ACIT is how the constructo weapons are a pure genius idea. You don't know the amount of hours I spent to change my constructo builds not to mention the color change I've made. I can say it was hours of pleasure just came from the pistol, bomb and shotgun! Man just imagine If the constructo weapons would appear in rift apart
To me my rank. I can argue on this too. 1. Up Your Arsenal 2. Going Commando 3. Crack In Time 4. Ratchet and Clank ps2 5. Tools of Destruction 6. Deadlock 7. Size Matters
I have been playing Ratchet and Clank since the beginning I played the original when it release it was the first game I complete Deadlock in a friends house the entire game in a weekend Crack in time was my return to the franchise and it is also my favorite to date All 4 One was a rather unique experience The PS4 reimagining for me was a disapointment becase they didn’t include all the original levels And now I have preorder Rift Apart What a Journey
This game is spectacular!! Its got gorgeous visuals, an amazing story, and badass gameplay! Plus an insomniac museum ;) I wish i could experience this game for the first time again
Tools of Destruction is one of my favorite games from that generation but for some reason I never played any of the follow-ups. I always assumed they were like budget follow-ups to expand on Tools of Destruction for some reason instead of full on games. I guess I got that idea from Quest for Booty and just assumed they were all like that.
As amazing as the gameplay is, i find the fact that the graphics have aged very well for this game, to be the most impressive thing. It somehow looks better than Into the Nexus does, a game that came out a few years later.
Dude, awesome video! Instant like and sub. I missed out on the ps3 releases, crack in time and into the nexus look awesome, deffos keen to play them. The fucking music is so good, shit im excited .
