Uniformity in ball inspections would go along way if they had a actual ball rep from USBC instead of hiring some shmuck of the street to make sure there was a serial number on the ball for $10 /hr. Had a spare ball back in 22 kicked out because it was made in Korea that passed inspection the year before that still had a serial # on it. Forced me to spend $151 more for another spare ball that I shouldn't had to buy.

I agree with the comments the interviewer should just ask the question and after the guest answers the question then rebuttal by interviewer / guest should take place. Also the USBC has a quality control issue where inexperienced ball testers are not cleaning the durometer needle after each use on a bowling ball and many sanctioned bowlers are ready to move to non sanctioned leagues because they do not receive recognition / awards from the USBC.

We feel you on the ball testing questions. That has to be a consistent and well executed process in order for the tournament to successfully run and grow. As far as awards go why do you feel is messing or owed to the bowler that would be appreciated? In terms of award rings the math simply doesn't work. At one point you had several million members paying dues and honor scores in the hundreds. It eventually got to a point where the membership was below 2 million and honor scores in the tens of thousands. You simply can't make that work without charging a much larger membership fee. As a bowler receiving an award for my first one makes sense but I don't feel I need 25 rings. Also as an adult bowler I didn't really find much need for patches or coasters or keychains etc but I realize some people might appreciate some of the other awards given. Ultimately the USBC is supposed to be a governing body not an awards organization and i think that got mixed up along the way. Similarly the USGA for golf oversees the integrity of the game and promotes the sport but does not issue awards to individual golfers. The question is what reasonably priced awards would be appreciated by bowlers?

@@VirtueBowlingSupply Thank you for your reply. I was referring to Storm Bowling Products and the USBC not commenting on the 4 bowling balls disqualified because the ball tester(s) were not cleaning the durometer needle after each use. I have achieved the one time honor score awards and will not receive recognition / awards for future honor scores. I do not want 25 rings which were cheap quality anyway but a patch would be nice. Why should I remain a USBC member when my USBC sanction dues could be used to increase league prize money? I belong to multiple sanction leagues and USBC membership recognition / awards apply to 10 to 15% of the bowlers in these leagues that already achieved the honor score awards. I will vote NO to sanction with USBC at the next league startup meeting.

Local associations now have the responsibility or burden of award programs. Some locals do a great job, others do nothing. Another reason to get involved locally if you want awards.

In my opinion, USBC should offer a huge discount, if not a free offer. For your first birthday bowling party, give them a present!!! The first summer league is free. Then maybe start a birthday club, hall of fame, or rewards club. For example, if you bowl every year after your first birthday league for five years, you get a free summer sport league.

That would be awesome but the problem is that's really more of the bowling center's job and deciding who pays and how it's paid for would be tough. As a former center manager I'll tell you that you're spot on. If 50 kids a week come in for birthday parties you SHOULD make sure that every kid gets free game passes, an invitation back, and a flyer for a youth have a ball league or beginner club etc. We fail as a sport when we take their money for the party and don't think ahead in terms of how we can make them a more avid bowler.

As a brand new member their membership structure is TERRIBLE. The fact that your membership isn't 365 days from purchase is a huge mistake. It's very unclear as a new bowler as well to what league and tournament requirements are. There is so much variability I see it as a turn off to most casual bowlers who are just trying to improve their game. Information is also hard to find and getting direct answers to any question regarding bowling is tough.

I think it would flow better and be better you could ask questions without making a statement at the same time. I like learning things and getting more insights into the world of bowling. There's a lot of potential for that with what you're doing. It's been difficult to learn or gain much insight from this series as of late because you seem to be pushing a narrative more than trying to learn something from them. Like certain news channels on TV. I could be wrong, but I think we want to learn and increase the amount of information we have. Generally speaking the interviewer should be speaking a lot less than whom is being interviewed. I dont think that ratio has been great as of late. I like who you have managed to get on here. "Being hard" should be making sure they answer the question or making them clarify conflicting statements, and getting the truth. Unless you think they are lying or catch them in one, being hard is kind of getting in the way. From my point of view anyways.

@VirtueBowlingSupply First off, I want to say that I enjoy listening to all these interviews and guests. Keep them coming. I have only been bowling competitively for two years so I do not have much history on the USBC, but of course I hear an abundance of stories. (Mostly unpleasant) This was really good to hear it for myself. I do have to agree with the comment above. This sure felt like CNN vs. FOX. Not getting into politics, just an example where it felt like a personal narrative was being pushed. Thats ok too, it is your show and can do as you please. I also think Chad tip toed around some of your questions and was not 100 percent clear. I would like to know what the Ford Quality guys background is in and what makes him qualified to take part in hardness testing of bowling balls? I'm the Director of Quality at my company and sure I can use a durometer but far from qualified to take part in that decision. 😂

@@41Anonymous21 thank you for the feedback. For what it's worth we do have part two of this interview next week with customer / follower questions that were submitted. While we do have our opinions and concerns for the sport we aren't trying to sell a narrative but we do appreciate the input and will take a look at our interview style and we always want to improve the quality of our content. Thank you for tuning in and for caring enough to voice your opinion. We hear you and we appreciate it.
