I just found this out a couple months ago too I was watching a Dreamweaver video on spin doctors and they actually said that they made an error on the 8” package, fin side more action which will allow you To troll at that 2.2-2.5 and have the same action as trolling at 3.0 with it rigged on the other side. Would help with blowback on riggers to obviously going at those speeds than 3.0, tight lines guys !

Brock We appreciate your time to leave your comment. There is a time and place for meat behind big flashers but I’d rather run a program of flys on doctors as they are more predictable. I find Colours are subjective although I do like to keep it simple when having confidence in a colour combo. I hope what we’ve experienced over the years can offer some different programs outside your usual spread. Let us know how the rest of the season goes

Thanks for sending this along. The lake is in a transition period now where the kings are starting to think about running the rivers. We call these stagers as they hang around river mouths darkening up then waiting for big rain falls to run typically early September Stager fishing should line up well with your planned timing mid august. The fly program is extremely successful got these kings as they are more inclined to bite out of agitation then hungers. We typically find the stager fish around river mouths like the ganaraska crefit Bronte or where ever salmon run. We can fish as shallow as 20 feet out to 80 depending on where they are. They fish typically move around in packs as they are starting to pair up for mating with males chasing the females. Fast doctors and flys are perfect often triggering double headers when passing baits by multiple aggressive competing kings. Hope this helps

Our 8 colour with a green nuke doctor and crinkle fly is our go to after 8 o’clock and has caught some game changers. Highly recommended

Probes are used by most which are also successful which I can appreciate. I just like to keep a open mind outside of just numbers. Please let us know if you have any other comments or questions

Andy Sorry for the late reply. I’ve been forced to step away from the water for a bit but can still chyme in on messages like this. Although we’re a week since your message it would typically be tough to find lake trout in that area most of the season. May is a good time for lakers but when in the west end of Lake Ontario I would recommend the south shore spanning from the Niagara river to Hamilton and the north shore typically has some good lake trout fishing from Oakville to hamilton. I like the bronte area best. I don’t find Temperatures play a big roll when targeting lakers. The majority of lakers ontarios lake trout population like deep cold water. We often fish 60 to 100 ft of water when in Bronte aiming our baits several feet off bottom. With either mag spoons or a flasher/deep rig combo. I find spoons are the most rewarding fight as these deep lake trout are not the hardest fighting fish until near surface so the least resistance bait like a spoon helps with that. Jigging is also another great technique if equipped with spot lock on the trolling motor. If I were in Humber bay this time of year I’d point towards the east gap where you can often find some kings including a deep water program. Extremely deep 150 plus. Thanks for the response We’re a big fan of longer medium heavy rods. Either 9’6 or 10 ft as they help for controlling fish at the transom. Although I don’t think they are ideal for the locker. We leave our starting line up in the track rod holders while storing out leads on ocuma lead core rods. We strictly run the Daiwa due to confidence along with a good understanding of how the drags react when filling up the spools with long leads. We like the rod trees for storage opposed to lockers. I guess iwhat I’m saying less restrictions in a arms reach goes along way for us Please let us know if you have any other questions
