Seriously Florian, I can't thank you enough for these in depth, and most importantly, up-close demonstrations. I've been taking wheel throwing lessons over the past several months, and in the age of covid, it's been challenging to receive instruction in a group setting while remaining socially distanced. Having your videos to rely on and to be able to see your hands so clearly and closely has really helped to fill in some of the gaps in my lessons. Thanks again for all that you do for us aspiring potters -- it's truly so deeply appreciated

My dude went from an ASMR artist of few words to a RU-vid master ceramics teacher in like no time at all. Congrats Florian, thanks for your dedication :)

Since I'm early this time around I'd like to thank you for posting such informative and beautiful guides! I watched your videos which compelled me to take on pottery lessons and now I've just paid for more independent studio hours. I've never approached a craft with more enthusiasm and your channel has helped me so much.

That’s wonderful to hear! And makes all the time and effort spent making these films so worthwhile. Good luck and thanks so much for taking the time to watch.

I don't know what it is with the hand gestures that go with, presumably, a later recording. But it shows how nicely edited/scripted these videos are. Wonderful work!

Haha! I do them in silence and then try to make my voice over work with them. It’s quite fun to do, albeit mad, slightly. Thanks so much for watching, Josh.

Shape reminds me of my favorite ramen bowls. Wide with a thick foot so I can hold the rim and foot with one hand when hot soup is in it. I like how prominent your mark is on that form.

Your videos are always music to my sleepless nights and last month I finally got to visit a cultural pottery village in Korea and buy some hand made pieces for the first time in my life. Thank you for your videos and your craft! 🥰

I really like the style of your pottery and video's and I wonder if you could answer a question; im wanting to go to a college and study ceramics there and so I have this intake, what do they look for? Is t more how eager you are, or how experienced you are? so to say Sorry for the long question

Thank you! I'd say being responsive to being taught is a good thing. Listen and practice what they tell you and be open to their ideas. Show that you're passionate, that you know about the craft, research different makers, techniques and so on and demonstrate you have a basic understanding of historically important potters, where you live or in the world at large. And of course some skill helps, but I'd rather take on a student who is very passionate about pottery and is yearning to learn more, than a closed off student who already has a direction. Good luck! I really hope you get it!

Next time you do a trimming video can you throw two pieces and show one of them being a cross section at leather hard?

Do you have any information/videos on beginner equipment to get started? Mainly good kilns to get going? I've got a workshop in my garden, but can't have anything massive!

Hey Florian! Thanks so much for this! I was wonderun if you have any exeprience with or have heard of this Russian brand of trimming tools, Ovo Lavka? I stumbled across them trying to get a hold of the bison tools, I’d be curious to know if you know anything about them?

Hey Florian. Love your work! Do you know where I can find tungsten carbide tools online except of the ones by Phil Bison? Thanks!

As far as handmade tools go, I’d imagine making a contact with a machining shop would be a good way to commission custom tools, should need arise. It seems like here in the Midwest US, all the artisans for specialty tools know each other, even if we’re all more spread out over here than the London metropolitan area.

Is the life of a pottery maker hard? How much do potterers make? these are my two questions for you as I am thinking about taking pottery lessons and to make a career out of it.
