Been Playing your scouts into knights build order and been smashing it! If vils start attacking is it better to run away and keep being annoying elsewhere or can I be happy with a few dead vils then my scouts dying?
@@therightman954 it depends how many villagers, generally 1 scout for 1 villager is worth for u as the scout rusher, but if you will lose more than that, you shud reconsider!
By the time you have 3 scouts you should have already used up all your sheep and boar...make sure your tc is sending vils to a resource and have one or two in que. When you go to look back at your tc run your scouts away from the enemy army or have them run around , check eco for few seconds, then go back to mircoing scouts
Keep your eye (and mouse) on the icons with life bars on the UI thing on the bottom of the screen... once you see a scout bar dropping, select it on the UI and make it move
Great scout micro video! Honestly the educational vids are great, no matter how good or bad a player is, everyone can gain from watching these. We all have unique perspectives. I love watching Viper do this also, especially some games you showcased where he kept plucking his low hp scouts/camels away from your archers. Then healing them with Monks later, great value. You are such an amazing player and always appreciate your content! Keep it up
Awesome vid! One video that'd be super helpful is how to set up a base to defend. Struggle with this a lot esp in early castle age if I'm not up first and can't help but feel like there are a lot of small things that you and other pros do which aren't usually noticed that seem to go SUCH a long way
The pulling in spear vs Scout scenario can be even stronger in low elo as more often than not players will klick-attack a scout instead of patrolling which means you can let the spear run circles around your scouts or distract them away if it is a bigger group of spears that you rather want to avoid alltogether.
Awesome video man. Definitely will use this in my games. Would love to see a video like this for mangonel micro (e.g., xbow vs. mango, mango vs. xbow, mango vs. mango)!
Super helpful video. I always wondered how to better micro scouts. The stand ground tip was one I didn’t know for raiding. How effective is this same micro with say paladins or cavalier versus arbalests or crossbows versus knights? Interesting to think about great content.
Hera, great vid. Education like this is the reason why you’ve become my favorite pro player! You’ve got me wondering about what it might look like to have two pro players teaching content like this together. Would you be interested? Just a thought.
How would you recommend engaging a drush or m@a, especially if they manage to get a spear in there? How many scouts advantage do you need to take a good fight? Also what should you do scout vs scout against franks? Just never fight and only go for vil picks, or is it worth it to try and out mass or out micro?
Nice explanation. I'm around 1250 and would say army micro is my weak spot - over-macroing and not getting enough value from army. Especially early-game. So this kinda stuff is good learns and helpful reminders. Would be good to put this into a playlist for learning the game - kinda like the road to 2k ELO iirc in Voobly days. That'd be a good series with DE as well.
How about microing scouts in team games, where both sides have archers in the back? I've seen high level player hanging around dodging arrows before patroling and diving into the fight but I can't see what's the timing or situation to hang around or patrol
Hey Hera, first of nice Video, love all your educational content, thanks for the work you put into it. Just one Question here: Im always having problems to click the right scout/knight when microing them away from spearmen. Do you have any tip how i could train that? Most of the times my first click misses, then i panic double click and accidently move all my units away :(
select all units, in the command panel you will see which one is losing health. click its icon in control panel then run it away, then select all again and repeat
I'd anyone getting a speach and video mismatch like me. It's way higher than I have ever got on any other video. It's my issue or hera needs to use some syncing thing???
Both spearmen and archers target the closest unit first. So you can either guess looking at the spearman's path or come at an angle, so that you easily see which scout is the closest.
Should you consider researching bloodlines for your scout rush if you don't want to have more than 4-5 scouts and you don't plan to follow that with knights?
bloodlines is 100 gold. That means you need a mining camp and 5 drops and enough farms for the 150 food. Unless you go to gold early and skim low on wood, you're only able to afford it fairly late in feudal. It's worth it if the enemy is on archers/skirms and you have 4-5 souts with high hp. But then you should probably make 2 more scouts, It's not worth it against spears. Fighting spears is bad with or without bloodlines. You want to dodge. bloodlines makes small difference. vs scouts it also doesn't make sense until you have about 6 scouts. Before that, it's more economical to rather make more scouts or spears.
Great video, how do u know which scout to pull back? Other than being in the front row I mean. Be it looks like if you pull poorly, you will do worse than without micro
hey, it takes practice. Basically you know because of the way the spear will attack, you can also let the spear attack you and only then you pull away the weak scout
what the psymon said, the vils will never re-target automatically the way a spear on patrol might or once the other unit leaves its line of sight, so even easier.
With the default formation scouts change the orientation of the line they form depending on how far you tell them to go. If you click them far the scouts move in a row one behind the other, if you click them close, they move next to each other instead. That means that it is a lot harder to micro them on small scales, because they keep breaking formation. With the box formation they keep together and are easier to control
same as with scouts, move when the archers are firing with the v-split formation back to line formation, and make sure to target low health archers when you fire back, rinse repeat.
For anyone wondering, lower level means sub 1500. These interaction advantages & predictions happen at 1500+ minimum. I would like to see a guid like this for how to best control the spearman & the nuances of it (like its slow attack speed) explaining how to best work around it to get at least two hits or even 3.
The real value shown isnt the hp of the scouts left. The real value shown is that hera planned 8 situations, with 8 scout group. And at the end he didnt use two of them.
Nice video for me im so bad with scouts that on my fav civ (lith) i play 20pop maa>archers as my default strat. 11 But probably wont change a thing for me im just so bad at micro... #MaaAreSuperiorScouts #ChangeMyMind
I'd argue you shouldn't be patrolling with only 4 units anyway, you should just be right clicking on their units. Especially with how patrolling can bug out like it did in this video
hi hera, i have a lot of problems selecting a unit in a group, because of the hit box. What advice could you give me? Thank you very much for your videos and comments. Greetings from Chile
@@PabloMarchenay Actually, theres even more to it than that - lets say 5 scouts are attacking a group of 5 villagers. If you have them in aggressive stance and patrol, your scouts will attack random villagers that are close instead of a specific villager. If you use stand ground, all 5 scouts will attack a specific villager. This is huge since it makes vill picks easier and much faster.
Here much respect buddy! goone hit u up on discord soon to for a game of among us lol .. Hope u dont mind haha. I got u once u need to lets me go again to redeem ur self lol
Cause you dont want scouts to run into tc or auto attack spear. Stand ground is the go to behaviour for any kind of feudal raiding in order to avoid them eating the tc (has to be done with drush man at arms and archers as well). With spears or any unit defending you can keep aggressive stand, but when feudal raiding ALWAYS stand ground
@@diegeigergarnele7975 You can also add that melee units on stand ground always attack the unit you clicked. In offensive or defensive stand they will retarget if the unit clicked is among other units (like if you have two villagers together on a woodline and click one with your scouts on offensive stance, the scouts will attack both villagers at once, reducing your chances to succefully pick off one of the two)
@@SalvThe1 and... what do you expect Hera to do about it? He’s already made a “How to play Britons” video... just watch that and pay attention to the weaknesses?
