The Dog Groomer's House
Built in the early to mid 1900s sits this once beautiful home isolated in the country, the nearby city has expanded over recent years and has encroached to its doorstep.
Fifteen years ago, there was a medical clinic that operated out of the building. It became abandoned for a short while around 2011 before being converted into a dog grooming business. Then tragically sometime in 2022 a fire started in the basement of the home and it was once again left without occupants.

This is a sad outcome for this house, it is cute in my opinion. The fire is a scary situation, glad everyone got out ok. We see it alot with old houses and houses with character and history as well as newer homes being torn down for the land to build more homes or apartments , shopping centers etc. The city closes in on everything in its path eventually. I guess its progress but I miss the old farmsteads and homes with character that are built to last and have real craftsmanship features. Thanks for your videos as always. I am trying to catch up and watch all your videos 😊 Continue to explore, never lose your zest for exploration and the excitement in your voice when you explore and find cool things ❤. I still have a pull-string talking Yertel the Turtle toy from the 1970's as well as some Cat in the Hat toys and a large Cat in the Hat head from a 1990's display at a shopping mall.

The new stabilizer seems to work great. The dirt on the light colour sofa and in other locations is smoke damage. The newsprint box 8:53 is likely a ream (500 sheets). I have alien tape and it works, just wash it off and use it again and it doesn't leave sticky stuff on the surface when it's removed. It's sad that they lost their business but it looks like they also lost their home. There's a lot in there for such a tiny house, good find. Happy New Year to you.

Not sure about the staining on the couch, I thought it looked more like animals having accidents. Oh so that's what alien tape is. I used to have a phone holder that used that stuff, I could peel it off, clean it and reapply it. I miss that one, the one I use now seems to be permanent unfortunately. The best things about the place were the artwork, especially the French monuments collage, the bathroom tiles, and the owl suitcase! Some nice pieces of furniture were there too. I know it’s devastating when you lose everything, happened to me but sometimes it’s a blessing in disguise.

@@StaticSpaces I don’t mind telling you. When my husband and I were moving from Pennsylvania to Montana (with the military), the truck with our household goods caught fire and we lost everything. This is why I get heartbroken when people leave their photos behind. I lost all photos of me from my childhood. I wish I had them, I don’t have anything to show my kids to compare with their photos. The blessing in this is that the military reimbursed us for it all and we could buy new matching furniture and most importantly we could buy all the things we needed for the baby that I was carrying but didn’t yet know about. We also had the important items with us (except photos) and our precious cats. Everything but the photos were replaceable. I still try to keep positive about things when all looks bleak. My family, including my furbabies, are the most precious things to me.

Like all your videos. Especially your intros and outros, and that you often also tell the story about the place, or at least give some background information about the place. Also technically your videos are very good, the video cutting, sound, sometimes background music, everything is great and well done. You used an image stabilizer? Video / picture was looking good, but it was also good in your older videos. In your last video you asked, which locations we like especially. I like everything, but my favourites are old houses with a lot of stuff and objects in it, like in this video. But I also like old Restaurants or Bars like you also showed before in other videos, or also abandoned hospitals or factories are interesting. I like a lot. How it is presented is also important, but you are doing everything right and perfectly. Looking forward for more static spaces in 2024. Thank you a lot.

So for a stabiliser, I am using a camera strap around my neck as a third point of contact. It achieves a very good result at a fraction of the weight a gimbal would. I have had a small number of people that complain about the shake in the videos and this setup definitely helps. Older homes with items left behind or time capsules are probably my favourite too, so I will always have more of those. I also have a couple of restaurants that are filmed and will come out shortly too. Also thank you very much for another generous donation, I can't express how much I really do appreciate that!!

Poor house. Seems like it was well built and so nice especially before when the kitchen was on main floor. From the outside it seemed rather small but inside seemed much bigger. Seems like they could have salvaged some of that furniture but it would be extremely tough to move it up from the basement. At least fire seemed confined to small area of basement. It’s a shame “progress” has encroached upon the house. It would have been great to refurbish. Giraffe was cute and I noticed a zebra in basement. I would have loved those when I was a kid. Thanks James for sharing this interesting house. Mannequins would have been eerie to find in the dark. The stabilizer seems to work. Videography was top notch! Take care and see you next time!

Quite frightening to see the fire damage so close to where the family's bedrooms were. I'm glad everyone escaped! The new camera stabilizer is a nice addition. Damn, sad to see that nice place sitting empty, but of course the fire damage has sealed it's fate. When I saw you start to open the freezer in the basement my immediate reaction was to say "DON'T DO IT!" I figured there'd be a nasty surprise waiting for you!

James I bet you love it when we tell you to be more careful but Dude the burnt stuff released all kinds of toxic stuff in the surroundings . They are absolutely polluted . You need a breathing thingy plus the mold okay ! We like you don’t want the ick to hurt you. This place is great so much left behind and I can never understand it really. The dresser so pretty. Thank you James This place was kinda creepy too .At the time of the fire everything probably smelled so strong of smoke so the family left it maybe?

Hey James, 1) The new stabilizer works great. Is it a gimbal? 2) I am interested to know how you found out that everyone got out of the fire. Do you go to the municipality offices and research the properties that you visit? Or in this case was there online news stories about the fire? I really appreciate when you have information regarding the the homes history. It just gives the homes/buildings a more personal touch. Another great job!😀

No, just a camera strap to create an extra point of contact to the body. I needed something light that didn't take up much space. No, there was no information about the home that I could find, other than the specifics mentioned. I am not 100% sure they got out but it's a safe assumption. What an adorable house this must've been. I cant imagine what the family went through. Personally, i would never sleep in a basement much less let my children sleep down there. My fear of fires would never allow it. The fire damage doesn't look too bad, but im sure the place would need to be completely gutted before it is ever livable again, too bad since it's such a cute place. When, oh when, are you going to learn NOT to open appliances lol. Loved this explore James!

That is a very old (probably originally to the home) boiler for radiator heat. It was originally designed to burn coal but now seems to have been converted to oil (the oil burner is seen at 21:58) perhaps sometime in the 1970s-80s.

Hello from upstate ny so much stuff left behind because of fire damage and water damage hey did u notice when u went downstairs to the basement all of the furniture had a blue piece of tape on then like a of home Insurane send someone to see the damages to claim there lost but take care buddy ❤️🎄🙏🏼

It looked to me like they left everything or at least most things. Belongings that weren't burned were likely ruined by the smoke. I'm sure they had insurance but some things are irreplaceable. Thank you very much for your comments!!

Wow, this was a really interesting one. I loved that vintage, art deco-type bathroom. Did this house have only one bathroom? If so, that would really have been a challenge living downstairs with small children, and no bathroom. Thanks for taking us along!

I think I smelled the refrigerator. lol. Looks fairly sturdy. Could be fixed to look good and live in. Maybe. Hard wood floors pretty nice. Just needed some help to look good again. Split door is neat. I love radiators. Place is a mess though. Usable things unless everything smells like smoke. Mannequins are great.

Hi James! Another really nice home that I’m sure would have been even nicer at one point. Some really interesting stuff left behind. I loved those sound effect books when I was small 😂 I think I had a few Disney ones. Fire is such a sad thing to happen. A lot of the stuff still seems in good condition. It’s a shame. New stabiliser did a great job!

With fire damaged homes usually one of two things happens, it's demolished for a new home or the insurance pays for a rebuild using existing materials or renovations. Thanks very much for your comment!!

Hi, if you don't mind what kind of camera do you use? Thought it was a DJI pocket 3, but you said you're using a stabilizer (gimbal )? Love the videos 📹!

I'm using a canon camera. I was going to try a pocket 3 but DJI took forever to release it. Then I discovered I have had a lot of problems with other DJI equipment, so I'm not really a big fan of them now. As for stabilisation, no I already have a full bag so I just use a camera strap as a third point of contact to my body. Glad you are enjoying the videos and thanks very much for your comment!!

@StaticSpaces Thanks for such a extensive answer! I currently have a DJI Action 4 and so far I love it. In addition I was considering a Pocket 3 and the low light capabilities are all over the place; for vlogging I want small and light equipment. Thanks again!

Ya, I have the action 3 and am not happy with it at all. It's way over sharpened and honestly the results are disappointing at best. If you are interested, you can look up action 3 focus issues and there are many resources talking about it. Just giving you this as a warning before you invest more into the company. As far as low light is concerned, I'm not happy with that either and don't know if it would be any better with the pocket series

@StaticSpaces I just read some major issues on Facebook Osmo pocket 3 with the viewfinder. I'm going to hold off; I was considering the Sony alpha 7iv but question it's weight and size for blogging. In addition it re a lly don't want the extra bulk of a gimbal. I really 😕 now!

Yup, that's the problem with DJI. They release products with problems and their quality control is garbage. The bigger the camera the better the footage will look (in general). But just give what you already have a try and see how you like it, then you don't have to buy anything

They are people that wash, cut fur and trim nails for dogs. Kind of like a barber but they provide more services and for pets only. Thanks very much for your comment!!
