I like the white pillar with the dragging hand prints on it and how that implies you are not the only person who has been out here climbing. Good subtle lore there.
The hand prints are there as a hint from the developer showing that you can climb it as a shortcut. If you use both hands at once and gently pull yourself up you can climb up the pillars.
1st part: Mark starting off bad and then crushing it until the end 2nd part: Mark losing grip, getting bored, almost crying, asking why is he doing it and losing almost all self concience 3rd part: Mark starting off bad and then crushing it until the end
@@Kurai_KagexI was honestly agreeing with them that matpat would love to play this and have a joke about the lore…I forgot that FAST he’s no longer doing the videos for game theory
@@Kurai_Kagex oh yeah I’m all for him spending more time with his family and being happier, I just hope he stays on gtlive, I go to sleep to those videos most of the time 😂
Honestly, the level design of that bathhouse is subtly clever. By the time you get there, you've gotten so used to having to go around things that you forget you can just go straight up. So when you see the broken pillars spaced out, you just assume you have to jump between them. By the time you figure out you can just go over them, you've already practiced the jump enough to make it through the rest of that segment. And even if you figure it out right away, those pillars are still there for you to safely practice.
The rockwall is clever too. It gives you a safe environment to learn that the green grips are fake, in case the green rocks at the start didn't tell you that.
I love that he used this thumbnail for the episode where he skyrockets in progress because that mouth full of glue is what immediately followed after the phrase "How 'bout a lil' somethin' for daddy?" and that just perfectly sums up this episode, this is a lil' somethin' for daddy
I love scrolling down in the comments and seeing a timestamp with a quote, and that same timestamp plays at the exact time that I’m reading the timestamp
You know what? It's feels so amazing to watch mark killing it this episode instead of being send back to the beginning in a fit of despair like normal. I can't imagine the elation he must feel
It is super nice, also nice for this game to have these sort of checkpoints. Reminds me of 3D game of bit trip runner where you get checkpoints after like half. Cos honestly i dont vibe with difficulty of "you always go back tobeginning" after a while its just tedious
read this comment before i watched the video and i thought it was sarcasm so i was stressed the entire time waiting for him to get entirely reset lol. he did so good though!
I think my favorite moments in these videos are when Mark expects to fall a great deal, so he starts instinctively screaming and then plops into a safe pool of water right below him. Like you can hear the despair in his scream, and then he's just like, "Oh, hey-- would you look at that."
It’s nice to see Mark getting challenged by a rage game rather than brutally beaten with a pool stick by it while it claims it’s a philosophical metaphor. I think it definitely helps that this game has MUCH more forgiving controls compared to getting over it’s slippery and almost sentient sledge hammer mechanics.
"Much more forgiving controls." You mean much _better_ controls. What makes Getting Over It a rage game is that its controls are designed specifically to be bad, or perhaps they're just intentionally not refined. There are people who have mastered them by adapting to the crap-factor. This game appears to actually have legitimate polish and quality controls. There's hardly a moment where Mark falls that it isn't obvious he made a mistake.
@@Selrisitai Which, funnily enough, could have made whatever self-aggrandizing, philosophical metaphors the author could've made actually means something.
@@ravenblackwing7888 don’t get me wrong, the actual philosophy behind it is good (an incredibly hard climb being just like life and the various hurdles we go through that either bring us higher or plunge us back to the bottom), but it when the controls don’t always work with you and sometimes get a mind of their own, it can make what he’s trying to express fall flat.
@@Selrisitai I think that’s more in line with what I meant, yeah. Granted, there are some thing in ADGAC that can be legit bullshit, but it also at the very least feels like your fault if you make a mistake. Getting Over It’s controls were just ass at times. Whether intentionally designed like that or not, it felt like there was just way too many moments where the control just got a mind of its own and decided to screw you over.
At 11:24, Mark does a trick that the WORLD RECORD SPEEDRUN does. This means that Mark is officially the greatest A Difficult Game About Climbing player in the world and no this is not up for debate.
There's a really long tie just beyond that I swear is designed for you to fail the jump to instill exactly this emotion. Using the dress skip from now on though, speedo grab is risky.
24:08 Lixian, sometimes your editing is particularly good in making us feel the same focus, frustration, and hope all at once that Mark is feeling when he's so close. Props!
Whenever Lixian zooms in on Mark's face as he says something like "this is easy" I assume it's because he's just about to make a mistake and my anxiety fucking spikes.
@@masterm8664it’s pretty easy to get to those if you go to the very bottom of the dress you can just swing and grab it, no need to make a jump for it, it’s a very safe obstacle.
That was such a POG moment, when mark finds himself dangling from a dress, and isn't sure if he can do it, just happens to fling himself into the pool close by, WOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!
Mark experimenting and manipulating the beam with an oscillating motion, allowing him an advantage to reach the anchor was impressive. Watching him play this game has me a bit weary after his play through of Getting Over It. It hurt to see how that game negatively impacted him. With this game, you can see Mark's growth with how he allows the punishment of falling affect his mood and game play. This has been such a treat. He should feel very proud of himself!!
the only physics object in foddy was the bucket, but the game was generally much shorter, and i imagine if bennett wanted to make it longer he would've explored more physics objects.
Wow, Mark was able to avoid any real disaster this episode. The closest thing to one was nearly falling over the edge of the pool he started the episode in
I mean, launching himself from the dress to the pool was a pretty big "Near-Disaster" moment. That was pure luck when it looked like he could just swing and grab the underwear instead of jumping for it.
@@dexeronstarsurge what mark accidentally did was a tech used by speedrunners! Which was ALSO discovered by accident. (and yes you can grab the underwear normally)
Well this brings a whole new meaning to "Live and Learn," hanging on to the edge tomorrow. Quite literally, this game is more deserving of that Crush 40 track just by a technical standpoint.
In his defense (or… not maybe?) this game looks like it actually controls well, it’s just a genuinely hard game. Getting Over It just… by design fights against you. I’m just waiting for the big fall to happen to watch him go through all five stages of grief.
@@spoopythedoopy8411 us old viewers prefer not to relive those memories of pain and agony those consecutive episodes went after he quitted and came back... and quitted... and came back with a stray jacket lol
Yup he was supposed to grab onto the red underwear and could've just reached them without letting go but he ended doing a speedrunning strat lol @@pearl2210
I feel like we're underplaying the convenience and leniency of the pools of water. It's kind enough to give you a checkpoint every now and then in order to make falls less punishing, whereas a game like Getting Over It would find sick, twisted pleasure in watching the player fall all the way to the bottom because they didn't perform a frame-perfect jump, this game at least has the decency of maintaining some of your progress for most falls. There are less sheer drops and multiple opportunities to save yourself from having to redo more than feels necessary. This is what a rage game SHOULD be. A game that's difficult, but only based on your own skill.
I just hit 2K subs Markiplier thank you for inspiring me to start uploading even if it’s different content than yours, you still have inspired me a lot ❤🎉 😂😂😂😂
I would love for a climbing game to end with the character getting to the top and just sneezing. They cover their mouth with their hands and do the classic cartoon gag of falling while reaching for air to an instant drop back to the beginning of the game. The screen just says "Congrats" in 1990's wordart. The end
Probably because this game is significantly better in every regard. Physics are "easier" to understand, there's better safety nets and it's just visually more appealing. Plus the lack of mocking voice helps as well.
@@BlueStreakStudioYeah. The controls aren’t garbage. There’s no bastard talking about nonsense as you play. And it’s more forgiving with its safety nets because the hand fatigue would be awful if you had to beat it all at once.
@@anastasyacortuna8551 I was not in any way referring to getting over it with that last remark. You can beat getting over it in as many sessions as it takes. You just have to move your mouse, you can rest anywhere. But in a difficult game about climbing hand fatigue is a legitimate problem. Solved by splitting the game into seven different levels so that you can take a break after completing every section.
10:40 strongest clothes hangers ever! I hung a light cotton t-shirt one time on a plastic clothes hanger and it freaking broke...in 2 places! The Hanger, people, not the t-shirt!
23:35 grab both, grabbing the left one by it’s top, and the right one by it’s bottom… after this, shift all weight onto the left bag, prompting the right to move upwards, then, once the right goes as high as possible, swiftly climb up the right one, and onto the pillar or you could just move quickly through it

Incredibly well done, GOATED. Easily the best vid in this game's mini series so far, time to watch 4! I mean seriously? 3 checkpoints in a run? Teaching us a valuable lesson here! 👍
man, Markiplier still my favorite youtuber. he gave me such a good childhood. Fnaf was my first horror game and been a fan of fnaf since the first mark introduced me to the game. Thx mark for the happy memory's.
I know you probably will never see this but thank you so much for all of your content and sticking with all of us over the years. When all of the people in my life left me, you and your videos were still there. You were able to make me laugh and feel something when no one else could. I wish I could meet you in person and give you a hug and tell you how much you genuinely mean to me. Thank you for everything you’ve done and everything you helped me through. You’re truly amazing, Mark.
I love the transition from frustration to satisfaction in this. Markiplier went smooth. It goes to show you the difference when a game has seemingly decent control compared to a game with intentionally obtuse controls.
Mark I have a question. Out of all the people on the internet, to me, you have the best voice. I am the type of person who enjoys listening to asmr and what not, but I was thinking, just how GREAT and AMAZING it would be, if you made like an asmr video. Might be something small like reading pages from a book, or maybe just speaking about a day in your life idk. But I'm just saying, if you ever do make a video like that, I'm pretty sure I won't be the only one who agrees with me, that that will be the best thing to listen to to fall asleep. Usually i just put on old security breach videos when i go to sleep to have ur voice. But the screaming sometimes wakes me back up lol. Just think about it, that's all im sayin' ❤🎉
