Oooh, a new video! It's like bumping into a friend unexpectedly. Wonderful that repairing the old windows gave you the bonus of new plants! Its early spring here in New Zealand and buying new plants is one of my favourite things to do, then getting them in the right spot between showers such a thrill. Checking them at least once a day to see how they're settling in another joy. Your furry friend is good company on your rounds. Thanks again😊.
Oh, lovely - spring is such an exciting time in the garden. I have given up trying to get Humphrey out of view from my videos. It was proving to be very difficult because he's always at my heels. 😊
Vous me faites un immense compliment. Je suis très heureux d'apprendre que vous pourriez être inspiré à travailler sur vos propres projets. Je vous souhaite tout le meilleur avec eux.
Beautiful house. I’m glad you were able to save the windows. I bet most people wouldn’t have had the skill and patience. To repair them. Your garden is glorious. I would like to hug Humphrey. He is so silent and serious looking.
Thank you! Each window takes about two weeks from start to finish, so it is a lot of work but we're very happy with how cared for they look now. Humphrey loves cuddles, he would be happy if I sat on the couch all day and cuddled. He barks at our neighbour's cowbell and the pigeons sitting on the roof otherwise, he's happy pottering along with me.
Claire, Thank you for your wonderfully instructive & inspirational house-restoration videos, demonstrating what we can do by educating & applying ourselves -- starting with your example. Humphrey is a star: Priceless is his portrait, taken from behind, of his watching a glorious peacock peering thru the window at this sweet pup
I appreciate your thoughtful comment as I've been so surprised by thinking back to times when we quickly called expensive tradespeople out to carry out work I can now do myself. I think Humphrey was mesmerised and tortured in equal measure by the peacock. He's part cocker spaniel, so he has a natural instinct to prey and I think he would have loved for the glass barrier not to be there.
Your vlog is the most relaxing and peaceful videos I've ever followed. I love everything about them. Your gift of gardening, cooking and restoration is remarkable. I wish you were my neighbor!! 😁😁🌸🌼🥀🌺💮🌻
You create the most beautiful and calming videos! I do not enjoy gardening but like to see other's gardens. Humphrey looked so cute with his toy. Restoring the windows is certainly worth all the effort and you have done an amazing job. Have a great weekend. Sophie.
Thank you so much, Sophie! We're so pleased with how the window restoration is going. I'm not too sure how I'm going to tackle the higher ones though as I hate heights. 😨 That's a problem for next year now though...
I can understand being nervous about grinding out that rotten wood 😬. You’ve done a great restoration job. I love all the pink flowers - very pretty. 🌸
Wonderful work as always, I thoroughly enjoy your videos, seeing the progress. But Hey, I totally loved watching sweet Humphrey carrying his stuffed bunny.. So cute it made me laugh. Thanks
I'm glad you enjoy seeing how things are moving along and I am always happy to hear love and appreciation for Humphrey - I know my DIY could never compete with his fluffy cuteness. 😊
Always such a happy moment when I see a new video from you popping up in my feed. It is like watching a new episode of your favourite television series. 😊 Every time you amaze me with your skills and inspire me to try some renovations myself. Thanks for that. I might begin with some really easy peasy diy`s though. 😂 Have a great weekend. Greetings from Normandy, France
Saying my video is like your favourite television series is a huge compliment - thank you! It's also great to hear that you're going to give things a try yourself. I always think that nobody will care more about the standard of work done on our house than me, so if I can, I'm the best person for the job...if that makes sense. 🙃
Wow 😊 well done on the marvelous job restoring the windows , they look fantastic 👍 & the garden is also looking so beautiful. Humphrey is such a sweetheart 🤗 . Those muffins look packed full of goodness 😋 , maybe you can share your recipe please 😁🙏✌️
Thank you! The muffins are delicious. I have a few food intolerances, so I have to change things but this is a link to an original recipe. www.taste.com.au/recipes/lumberjack-cake/1f0a60ea-3c22-4f3b-9bbf-ea5deacda779
I have renovated old windows, they are extremely time consuming but very rewarding👏👏 It takes weeks, by the time you have removed, stripped, sanded, repaired, re-sashed, painted and reinstalled! I am really interested in the filler you used, is it an epoxy resin? It worked really well to fill the space. Love your garden, you have inspired me and I am off to the plant nursery today 🌺🌻🌷 Humphrey is just adorable, such a lovely companion.
One can never visit a garden centre too frequently. 😉 The windows take such a long time. It would be easier with more stable weather, but this hasn't happened this year. Here is a link to the product I use on the windows. I don't think it's classed as an epoxy resin. www.repair-care.co.uk/product/dry-flex-16-3/
Thank you! I don't know what has happened this year...summer didn't end up arriving so I know exactly what you mean about 'if the weather would allow!'
What is the green goopy stuff you used on the window? I'm not familiar with that product, but it looks like it has a bit longer working tine than wood Bondo does. Great work on the repair! Looks solid and lasting.
It's a Repair Care product called Dry Flex 16. It's quite expensive but is an excellent product and doesn't crack over time or temperature ranges. Here is a link to the product. www.repair-care.co.uk/product/dry-flex-16-3/
Thank you! My background is in education, but I have a trade qualification in soft furnishing, which I've only used for our renovation projects. Everything else, I have picked up along the way and over time.
I know this is kinda of a dumb question but is it spring or fall time where you live? I love your videos. You are talented in that you can repair your windows. I couldn’t do that. Your gardens are beautiful. I knew some of the plants your were planting. I love working in my flower gardens too. I’m surrounded by mountains. I live in a rural area of North Carolina. Fall is a beautiful time here. 😊
Oh, I have ALWAYS wanted to visit North Carolina...hopefully one day! Your question isn't dumb at all - even my plants are confused this year. We are at the beginning of autumn but we've had a weird 'non' summer this year so most of my summer flowers are just starting to bloom. It's so disappointing because we'll get a frost soon and it'll all be over before it's started.
Is there any chance of getting the recipe for the muffins? Our allotment field will be having Apple Day at the beginning or October and they would be perfect.😊
Hi, I have food intolerances, so have to swap ingredients but here is a link for a recipe with regular ingredients. It is such a delicious cake - everyone's favourite here. www.taste.com.au/recipes/lumberjack-cake/1f0a60ea-3c22-4f3b-9bbf-ea5deacda779
