As a puppy, Bella finds her way into the arms of Lucas, a young man who gives her a good home. When Bella becomes separated from Lucas, she soon finds herself on an epic 400-mile journey to reunite with her beloved owner. Along the way, the lost but spirited dog touches the lives of an orphaned mountain lion, a down-on-his-luck veteran and some friendly strangers who happen to cross her path.

That was because Bella as a puppy was raised by a cat so in a way I think she feels that she needed to do the same thing. And that turned out to be a good beautiful thing because hey the big cat actually saves her. And I'm not going to lie I cried because just when I think Bella is about to die from the wolves big cat comes to the rescue

She probably wouldn't have done that if she had never met a dog before. Bella's lucky. It's the oldest gag in the book, do someone a good turn and they end up paying you back. And yet it's still a good helpful moral to this day! ❤

It might be because some zoo's, use support animals for big cats as kittens because the mother either died or is unable to take care of the kitten they usually get separated when the kitten gets bigger but not always. So yeah this could be possible.🐯🐶

If the circumstances are right, it's highly possible. It reminds me of something I read. I don't remember how this went, but it was a poem. It was talking about a man in the forest who found an injured wolf and helped it heal. When it was fully healed and went on it's own, the man came back to the forest. This time there was a bear on the prowl and the animal started to attack the man. But a wolf pack came and went after the bear. The numbers scared it off. The wolf the man rescued happened to be an alpha so it returned with the pack, to help him like he helped the wolf.

They live their life the way the instinct tells them. Wolves aren't aggressive. They are protective so they protect their family just like humans do

Actually they are coywolves. A naturally occurring hybrid between eastern wolves and coyotes. Coyotes don't hunt in packs.

Man this could have such a major blockbuster if it was funded correctly. Imagine this on a major studio peoduction. Would have been a classic, would have been right up there with movies like homeward bound or lassie.

I don't think people realize how relatively low-budget this movie is, if I remember it's only got an 18 million dollar budget so it's not going to have the CGI of 150 million-dollar Blockbuster movie. All things considered I thought it was pretty good

I loved when Big Kitten came on the scene combined with fierce background music! Big Kitten is like you're not going to mess with my bestie Bella. Big Kitten gave them beat down. Cougars when full grown are terribly muscular and they share a lot of DNA with certain members of the big cat family that routinely bite through the skulls of crocodiles. The fact that Bella was in her good graces means those coyotes are incredibly lucky that big kitten didn't make a meal out of them but I'm pretty sure eventually big kitten caught up with them and finished what she started.

Even if they were hybrids, coydogs are actually a lot more aggressive that straight coyotes. Coyotes are opportunists, but they despise personal risk, and will drop a hunt, even with live prey in their teeth, if they think they're about to get walloped. They like prey that can't fight back. Coydogs, on the other paw, are dangerous because they have a coyote's natural opportunism, but a domestic dog's lack of fear of humanity. We've long since bred fear out of dogs; they can learn it, even from the ground up, but the instinct to fear humans isn't there anymore after so many millions of generations of domestication. Dogs and coydogs are also more social, and more prone to running in larger packs; coyotes tend to be solitary or live in very small family groups.

Coydogs at best, but I'm really pushing more toward they simply found some random mixed breed dogs to use for this. If anything some kind of northern breed mix or could have very well used certain smaller (or even young) dogs from the following breeds; Czech Wolfdog, Saarloos Wolfdog or Tamaskans. I personally would vouch Tamaskans myself as they tend to be much more trainable and versatile than the Czech and Saarloos combined though. That being said, some of the dogs used for 'coyotes' in the film actually had very large prick ears with low hanging, "hook tails" and their movement when they were doing the "stalk the prey" actually highly resembled a Border Collie as well, alongside fur type too for smooth coated borders or mixed of a BC. So also due to that, Border Collie mixes are also very, very likely here too. Being a canine behaviorist and working dog handler as well as moderate confirmation work, I've had to get used to identifying breeds and their structure as well as traits.

@@NotEeyore Congratulations! And my apologies if I offended; I meant wild coydogs, like you find outside of LA, not hand-raised. The coyotes out there breed with the strays all the time, and the resulting hybrids are a problem.

Having just seen this movie (and thoroughly enjoyed it), I wonder what the animals were thinking in this scene: Bella: "Oh, no, there's nowhere left to run!" Coyotes: "End of the line for you, dog." Bella: "I'm not afraid of you!" Coyotes (attack Bella, but then see Big Kitten) "Ooooooohhhhh, crud." Big Kitten: "YOU MOTHERPUPPERS GET AWAY FROM HER RIGHT NOW!!!!" (attacks coyotes and scares them away) "AND STAY GONE!!!!!!" Big Kitten (walks toward Bella): "It's okay now, Mama. I'll take care of you."

I loved this movie. Big kitten was just a curious stander by until she realized they were hurting her long time friend. I love it when her face goes from normal to I'm going kill me some K-9's. Her ears go back and she roars and brings out the claws and teeth. 😀

AMind OfMine No she wouldn’t actually. She would have more speed and strength then a wolf, even a pack. I work at the zoo and learned a lot about them.
