Airfix should have one rule book in English in the box,and provide a code that can be red by you phone, the code will take you to a site that you can select the rules in your desired language.

Great review. I play bolt action and was drawn into modelling again - after about 25 years - because of that, and was aware of blood red skies... I may buy this but the unnecessary other language sheets is a big disappointment...

It's odd because the standard way of doing instructions is one book in multiple languages. If you go to the trouble of doing different booklets for each language, surely it's logical to only include the booklet for the market each box is sent to, to be sold in. So English booklets in boxes for English speaking parts of the world and French booklets for French speaking parts of the world. Surely Airfix knows its export figures to various parts of the world?

It is cheaper to make only one edition with multiple rulebooks and cards that make language specific boxes to a specific market.

Bolt action is 1/56 so I buy 1/48 scale

I don't want to upset you or make you think you overspent, but a quick search online shows this box available for £20-£25... even so, you are right in saying 4 1/72 kits is quite good value for either price.

That's for the "standard " version of the game which (as I say in the video) cones with 1/200th scale minis, not 1/72nd

Dunno what logic went down behind the multilingual printed smorgasbord. Working for a publisher, to me it's a waste of money and resources.

Yeah, I think I understand where Airfix was coming at with this, but not sure it was properly thought through & actualised....

Unnecessary language rulebooks and cards? You're wrong on this. That is a great idea to play with other people that don't speak or understand English, not everybody knows English!

The point is not that, it's that physical copies of different languages in the box only contribute to weight and cost - these are easily regionalised or replaced by digital media

@@MannsModelMoments I don't think that some more manuals of not so much pages can contribute a lot to the weight of a box. And some people prefer printed rules than pdfs, especially those used to play, like cards.

@@StevanEC As I said in the video, over a quarter of the box weight is in additional printed paper - that's a lot, especially with international shipping rates and the effects of Brexit on Import/Export in the UK. Cutting a quarter of the weight from a box is a big deal (not sure why you're talking about 1kg here)
